The vehicle was towed to his home. The manufacturer was notified, but was unable to assist. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000. Tl-the contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact received recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system); which an appointment has been made. The contact stated that the key will would independently come out of the ignition while the car is geared in drive. The contact also stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the air bag warning light intermittently flashed, as a result the engine seized. The vehicle was steered to an independent mechanic where the fuel pump was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 226,000. Mc.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

Air compresser and wire harness had to be replaced fan did not work on setting 1 and 2 needed to be replaced again the first time was in 2000. Airconditioning problem caused the fuses that control gas tank, temp gage and lights on dash board to go out all fusses replaced.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2002

The contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. The dealer stated that the steering: rack and pinion was leaking and the contact paid $195, plus $470 for labor. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 03v527000 (steering:rack and pinion). The contact called gm in April of 2002 and was informed that he would be reimbursed. When he informed gm that he took the vehicle to a private shop, gm changed their mind and never provided reimbursement. The current mileage was 74,000 and failure mileage was 42,114. Updated 04/16/08 the dealer repaired the cam position sensor as well. Updated 04/16/08.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/04/1997

After filling gas tank engine died 7-8 times.
