One problem related to car accelerates on its own has been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Malibu. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1999 Chevrolet Malibu suddenly accelerated while the brakes were depressed. While in park, the rpms advanced to 2600. When placed into drive the vehicle would gain speed to 45-50 mph on flat ground with foot off of brake and accelerator. There were incidents of running through a red light with difficulty slowing down and suddenly accelerating almost hitting a bicyclist. The original iac valve (intake air temperature) with a new original gm iac valve. The last incident occurred after the iac repair.
