1 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2018

My car shuts off while I'm driving it, when I try to turn it on it won't turn on. I could smell gas but it won't turn on. It's a hazard when I'm on the highway and it just cut off on me and I'm stuck in the middle lane with incoming traffic. I took it to a mechanic and could not find any issues with any other parts of the vehicle my fuel pump is in great condition my tune ups are up to date I don't know if it is the anti-theft affiliated with my key ignition please advise.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2015

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled and the anti theft device light illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and the fuel regulator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was not available.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

Bought vehicle on sept 3 2014 within a couple weeks while driving car literally just shuts off. Steering locks up, electrical shuts down. Let car sit for a few minutes and will restart. First attempt to fix was new fuel pump. Ran great for 2 weeks then suddenly started again. There is no consistency to the problem-- full tank, empty tank, different speeds, rain, dry. Side roads, main roads. The problem is not predictable. Second solution new ignition module. Great for 3 weeks. Died in the middle of driving 40mph at night. When it dies very hard to get safely off road. Could not get teh car started for more than 40 min. Went fine for a few days then happened 4 times in one trip less than 20 miles. First couple times started with in a few minutes, next had to sit for 15+ minutes huge safety issue to have car literally shut down in the middle of driving. Possibility to get struck by another vehicle. This is a known issue and yet can find no one who has satisfactorily fixed it.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2013

We replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter after the car continued to cut off while driving. Another issue was sometimes while driving the car would automatically speed up which made braking hard and rough. I was recently told by the mechanic to replace my ignition switch which is supposed to fix the car turning off while driving.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2013

I was traveling to brighton, CO from ft. Morgan, CO to seller my 2000 chevy Malibu. Our intended purpose was to take the funds from the sell and pick up 1996 chevy s10. Prior to this trip my car had difficulties starting but never failed to start after several attempts. The car engine stalled coming off of the off ramp at around 30 mph. When the car stalled I had to manually steer the vehicle to get it to the shoulder of the road (I just had carpool tunnel surgery and it was painful to do so). After about 2 minutes I attempted to restart the car and it restarted after about the forth attempt at turning the key on waiting 30 seconds for the fuel pump and then turning the key over the rest of the way. After about 2 city blocks the car stalled again going around 20 mph. This time it took much longer before the car would start again. About 25 minutes, we let the engine cool and again it took several attempts to turn the motor over but it final did start. It traveled about a mile and stalled again going about 5 mph. This time we let the car sit for an hour and re attempted to start it. It went another mile and stalled again. We contacted a mechanic who suggested it may be the fuel regulator or the fuel pump. We have replaced the regulator and that did not work we have tested the fuel pump and it is working fine. I have read several documents involving this issue and I am still no closer to figuring out what the problem is. I only know I am not the only one having this issue. This car also has a faulty check engine light and does not appear to be over heating when it stalls. The theft light comes on intermittently but I have check the VIN on my car with chevy and there is no recall for my car. Why is this happening at 115k. This could be very dangerous and I have half a mind to call a news station. I'm sure chevy would love the new advertising. Please fix.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2009

My car has expereinced trouble starting due to this ignition swirch, recall. I have been stranded multiple times. I have been to service stations and the mechanincs could not figure out what was going on, causing me to put out money for a new starter, a new electrical system, new fuel pump etc. The problems that I have faced were due to the ignition switch not being in the "run" position. How can I ever be compensated for all of the repairs that were not really needed on my car due to some major corporation being greedy and keeping it's customers in the dark about the reality of the situation. Gm has been putting me in danger for years now, and I have to continue to wait for the parts to be made to correct their error. I have been stranded on the road and in undesired places, this is unforgivable!.
