2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2017

My check gas cap keeps coming on n my car is leaking gas from the fuel pressure line n upon doing some research I have found that several people have the same issue so I checked for a recall on the car which it seems to me it should have one but does'nt it's clearly a factor defect if alot of people are experiencing the same issue it leaks when the key is on I won't drive it for two reasons one who can afford to have their gas leaking and two I'm affraid it could blow-up while driving it. I just bought the car a month ago so really don't know when the issue actually began.

3 Other Fuel System problem

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/17/2016

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2016

My car was recalled for a transmission shift cable problem. I took it to the dealer in February of 2015 and the dealer replaced it per the recall. On marc 27th 2016 the shift cable came off of the transmission shift lever and I could not shift out of drive. I turned the motor off and now the car started rolling backwards due to the incline I had stopped on. Since the car was in drive I was unable to start the car. The brakes were ineffective because the motor was not running. This actually happened in my garage so I had my wife put a scrap of wood behind the tire so it would not roll out into the street. I contacted the dealer that did the recall work and was told that the recall service was only waranteed for 1 year. I am having difficulty understanding that the original recalled part lasted for 11 years and the replacement part only lasted for 13 months. Since this was a recalled item why isn't it repaired by the dealer under the original recall bulletin? once a recall always a recall!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

6 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2015

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving at 20 mph, the power steering became difficult to maneuver and the power steering warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the high pressure fuel line fractured and leaked fuel into the muffler. The failure recurred once. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 159,672.

7 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2014

Have been experiencing strong odors of gasoline over the past several weeks. Gas mileage has been impacted. Have called dealer several times - no return phone call. Assume when they do call me back, I am in for a $1,000 repair bill based on previous submissions. I would guess this should be another recall item based on the number of complaints I have read.

8 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2014

This has happened on many times since I bought the car in 2006, I would drive to a location shut the car off come back out (dose not matter how long of a time I would be where im at) try to start the car, it starts and then dies, this sometimes happens more the once in a row, by the second and third try it would start and be fine after that. The last time it did it at an intersection, the car shut off while idling, it took a few seconds to start it back up. During this time I almost got hit twice by different car. I have had the eletrical system checked and everything is where it needs to be. I saw a recal for Malibu's about there fuel systems. Im wondering if the maxx type is part of that problem as well.

9 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

My battery light came on this morning and I came home from lunch tried making a left turn onto a street and my steering wheel locked on me. I couldn't turn my car, now my car won't even start. I barely made it home, thank god because I almost crashed into my neighbors house from my steering wheel locking.

10 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2013

Car cranks but will not start.

11 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2013

The passlock system and fuel rail combined created a injury to pedestrians that is unbelievable the car took off after left turn into a parking lot.

12 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2013

I was smelling gas in my car. It was leaking gas from under the car heavily. The smell of gas was in my clothes and came thru the house of my garage.

13 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong gasoline fuel odor. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the fuel neck only had one hose. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 59,198 and the current mileage was 69,000.

14 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The dealer stated that the fuel relay switch overheated and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also indicated that the brake lights failed and were replaced multiple times. In addition, the headlights would not illuminate bright enough to see in front of the vehicle while driving at night. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the headlight assembly needed to be replaced. While activating the cruise control at any speed, the vehicle would suddenly accelerate on its own. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was 80,000.

15 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2005

Poor gas mileage, gas cap is rattling loose due to ratchet piece coming apart, ratchet piece replaced and one week later same problem.

16 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2004

A few days after purchasing the car new, the "check gas cap" warning started displaying. The dealer diagnosed the problem as a cracked carbon canister, and after a few weeks, the part came in and the dealer installed it, fixing the problem. At the same time, there was a moaning noise coming from the drivetrain under acceleration. The dealer found a service advisory about a defective chain sprocket in the transmission, ordered the parts, and when they came in, took the transmission apart and installed the new parts. This apparently solved the noise problem. The next time the car was driven after taking it home, the transmission quit working. The engine sped up, but the transmission did not pull. I am waiting for the dealership to open to report this latest problem. There were also minor problems with cruise control disengagement and transmission shifting which the dealer could not duplicate. This has all occurred in the first two months of ownership.
