I was driving on the highway and my car steering wheel became really tight and caused my car to drift in the right lane. The steering wheel locked up and became really stiff to turn. It has a faint burnt smell . I can not risk the chance of the car catching on fire with me and /or the kids in the car. I had to move into the shoulder on the highway I was about side swipe the car that was in the right lane beside me. I had minor children in the car when it first happned. I did look up recalls and talked to several gm customer service and was informed the car did have a recall but it has expired since then . If I would have known about the recall I would have never brought this used car. When I brought the car from the auction they informed it was no electric probelms with the car but it is. Also killed me and my kids the way the wheel just locked and didnt move. A customer service rep said she would give me a $100 coupon off services . But I honestly I do not have the extra money to take the car to a delaership and get fixed . I know that will cost me almost $1000. There were no warning lights signal anythignto indicate it has an electric power steering problem. Can you as a company find it in the value and core components of the company moral values and help assist with this expired recall on the power steering.
First 14v224.
Power steering warning light comes on same as recalls that were issued for 2008 Malibu models and car often shakes noise ticking under hood rpms go above normal at higher speeds.
My sway bar broke and caused me to spin out of control.
While driving on the highway using the cruise control, the cruise control suddenly went off and the check engine light came on. I took it to the mechanic and he said the transmission cylinder was off, I bought the car used and researched recalls on this car through the safecar. Com website and saw a transmission related recall (recall number 14152). I called the associated gm recall center told them my issue and gave them the recall number. The representative pulled up the recall description for recall number 14152 and the consequences listed in the gm directory were not the same language as the consequences on safecar. Gov. She couldn't explain why the description was not the same in the gm directory as the government safecar website and I found that disturbing. So that is my first complaint--the gm system and national website are not in accordance. Secondly, my cruise control stopped working suddenly and the transmission cylinder in my car is off, under my VIN the car had the transmission recall fixed in 2015 by the previous owner. 3 years later and there is another problem with the transmission. I would like to submit that if this is a problem for multiple people a transmission recall be done on the "fix" and that cost of fixups be restituted by gm. Have other "fixed" Malibu recalls been an issue? thank you.
The vehicle was in motion, city street, turning. The steering wheel wpuld turn the opposite way that I had to turn. The steering wheel would also lock in the opposite direction which almost caused me to crash into the wall. When I pulled off to the side tge steering wheel would shake and turn by itself. I just discovered that there is 9 recall notices from 06/27/2014 to 02/23/2015. The dealership has not owned up to these recalls. Due to multiple of these recalls my two children (ages 2 and 1), my husband, and my life (pregnant) could have been lost due to an almost vehicle collision due to these recalls. 06/27/2014 recall for train:automatic transmission. 06/27/2014 recall for power train:automatic transmission:lever and linkage:floor shift. 08/18/2014 recall for service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake light. 08/18/2014 recall electrical system:wiring. 08/18/2014 recall exterior lighting:brake lights. 08/18/2014 recall vehicle speed control:cruise control. 08/18/2014 recall electronic stability control. 09/08/2014 recal for steering. 02/23/2015 recal for steering:electric power assist system.
A notification sound came on upon starting the car and the steering wheel became extremely hard to turn after that. It was assessed to be the torque sensor that caused the problem. The vehicle is hard to turn if it's going slow and can be shut off and turned on again to help but it eventually turns back on at any speed after.
I intermittently lose power steering, now it is happening every time I drive the vehicle and it is not safe. The wheel begins to take over for its self, so to speak. The wheel will shake some times aggressively enough to be pulling me whichever way it pleases. It even does this at an idle, the VIN is pulling up no recall but the articles on this subject say it is included in the expansion of the recall. I just bought the vehicle sept 24, 2016.
The passlock system in the car enables whenever it wants to leaving you stranded. The whole car shuts down all methods of disarming the system fail. You have to wait x amount of time for the passlock system to disable on it's own. It could take an hour to 48 hours! huge inconvenience!.
While driving 50 mph in the passing lane my 2007 Malibu shut itself off. There was substantial traffic and I had to coast across the lanes to the side of the road with my 7 year old daughter in the car. I called 1-800-chevusa and was told that since my manufacturer warranty is up there isn't anything that could be done. After speaking to a supervisor my car was towed to the local chevy dealership where it is still sitting now. My husband also spoke to someone at chevy who told him that since the warranty is up and there is no recalls we were basically out of luck. My husband nicely explained to them that there were no recalls at first on the cobalt's either but unfortunately it took someone being killed for them to take the issue seriously. They state that they will send paperwork to have my car looked at by the chevy dealer but we are still waiting. We could have been killed from this and I hope that this issue gets resolved and if it is a recall issue they do it fast before it happens to someone else.
Vehicle doesn't stay in park.
After shifting the car into park on a small hill, the car began rolling backwards. I applied the brakes and verified the shifter and the the dash display said the car was in park. When I released the brakes the car again began moving backwards as if in reverse, despite the indicators showing the car in park. After several attempts I managed to shift the car into drive and repark the car, which then went into the correct gear.
I have an 2007 Malibu LS v6, one night I placed my car in park, turned the engine off, removed my key and seatbelt like I normally do and the car continued to roll forward. I attempted to press the brakes which did not respond and the car rolled off of a small cliff. I along with a passenger were in the vehicle at the time and since we were in the process of exiting we were thrown forward when the front of the vehicle hit the ground. I played that day back so many times and could not understand why the car did that. It was a very scary event and I don't attempt to park on inclines anymore. Since this event, I have received two recalls from the company with no date in correcting the issue. I am afraid I will attempt to stop and the brakes will fail again. Thank goodness this first time did not result in a physical injury, just a traumatizing event.
With all the complaints on power steering problems on the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, that are the same as other year Malibus, are you waiting for an accident before recalling this vehicle?.
Service passenger airbag warning light comes on intermittently. Sometimes when the passenger seat is occupied, the light will go off, but not always. Lack of trust in dealers investigating and making the repairs is an issue. I'm told (by a local Chevrolet dealer service manager) that it will cost $80 just to check via computer what the cause may be. Repairs such as re-coupling a loose sensor connection beneath the passenger seat is relatively inexpensive ($40) but replacement of sensors repairs could run upwards from $700.
Last week my car started creeping when I hit the gas. My car sounds like a boat. The car sounds like its not getting gas or choking. When it starts picking up speed it sounds like its dropping into the gears. I took it to the shop and they are telling me that there is a problem with the catalytic converter and it needs to be replaced. That has been replaced now they are telling me there is a problem with the timing chain and water pump. Now, I noticed that these are all things that are covered under chevy warranty but the issues shows up after the warranty has ended. Chevy needs to extend the warranty on these parts because its a common issue.
When I attempted to put my car in park the car kept moving. I had to drive to a safe flat area to stop it and turn off the car. The gear shift cable was ripped in half. I see this has been recalled on other years but not for 2007. I am also having problems with the power steering and the brake lights are malfunctioning. I entered my VIN on the gm site, but my car is not involved in any of the recalls. How is that possible when it is having the same identical issues as the recalled Malibus of other years?.
Clunk, knock or rattle noise from front of vehicle while driving or turning over bumps at low speeds. Repair never offered at warranty ran out. The problem still exist and I have been assured by dealer gm this is safe. Do you have any additional info, as to why 2007 were excluded from recall?.
