general problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

My vehicle is experiencing a sudden loss of power steering assist.

On 5/23/2022, we were involved in a crash where a loaded asphalt dump truck pulled out in front of us on major highway. Vehicle was totaled from front end impact. Air bags did not deploy!!.

Air bag sensor is reading airbag as a foreign object and not apart of the vehicle. Airbag has never been deployed, nor has it ever been changed. This should not be happening.

While driving down the road at about 20mph on city streets my power steering went out while I was turning left into a business and I was unable to turn the steering wheel. I had to turn the car off, then back on, and it would drive for a short while before power steering would shut off again, usually while making a left or right turn. The steering wheel also turns on its own while sitting still. I am unable to drive the car. Also, the steering wheel is making a grinding, popping noise and flashing "check airbag" messages when the car is turned on. I have researched this problem and found the power steering issue to be a broad gm vehicle problem. Chevy Malibus from 2004 to 2010 I believe were all covered for a recall. My VIN however is not on this list and I am suffering the same problems as all of these other chevy Malibu owners. My vehicle has 128,xxx miles.

Airbag off light stays on.

Driving downtown des moines my message center started dinging, the message output was: "power steering" the steering wheel began moving on its own back & forth, jerking and grinding. At one point jerked out of my hand. It became almost impossible to continue. I pulled into a convience store, bought power steering fluid and started the vehicle. The steering seemed normal. The car was not low on fluids, I didn't travel far before it happened again. By the time I made it home my ribs were hurting from trying to manauver the car home. This malfunction is the eps system and recalls of the 2008 began in 2014. My VIN# wasn't included on the list. However, my car has the same problem. At one point my steering wheel jerked so hard it yanked steering wheel away from my grip and I came close to hitting another vehicle. Prior to the above occasion, I would be stopped at a signal light and the steering wheel grinded jerked back and fourth and unfettered.

Cars purchased on October 31st 2018 the car can I pass inspection with no one to dmv they gave us a call back saying the car was totaled in the salvage car declared in 2016 the car should not have been sold for $2,700 when contacted dealer he refused to give us our money and he said only I can get another car if I pay your car notes at this time would just like for my money to be refunded the vehicle cannot pass inspection and is unsafe to be driven on the street I would like my money back he's putting my life in danger.

Front end was wreck, daughter lip busted , no airbag explode.

Takata recall, the vehicle constantly displays service air bag system and will not activate. Doesnt matter if in motion or not the warning goes on and off at random.

Went I bought the car had been give problem now the car smell like is leaking gas and the airbag system turn on my front wheel crack went I turn right or left I took to the dearlship they said they fix the problem but still does same thing they don't help anything make me waste my time my car I peace shit I wanted my all my money back.

My son was driving home from college and his driver and passenger curtain airbags and driver seat airbags deployed for no reason. He did not hit anything and nothing hit him. He sustained mild injuries due to this malfunction of the airbags. He will be going to the doctors due to residue in the eye, a burning feeling on side of face, and neck hurting.

Messages: 1. Svs air bag, also when passenger in car, air bag is off. 2. Svs tire monitor, also thinks I have a flat when all 4 tires are filled.

My "service air bag" sign lights up on my dashboard at random. I had it looked at by a local Chevrolet service center last summer (2014). They came up with several scenarios that added up to more than 1,700 dollars. The problem is still not fixed. I wrote the chief executive officer of the general motors corporation to try to get any further fees associated with the air bag problem waived, because I thought 1,700 dollars was enough, and they did not agree to my request. In the meantime, I'm hoping that I don't have a seriously dangerous problem with my air bag. Thank you for your time.

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the air bags unexpectedly deployed without warning. The dealer and manufacturer denied assistance with repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 70,000.

Passenger air bag will not arm all the time with passenger in seat. Still doing the same thing to date!.

According to witness, my son was stopped at a red light on a two lane main road (on each side). His 2008 chevy Malibu was on the outer lane when all of a sudden veered to the left as if heading towards a driveway ( when he originally was going straight to pick up a CO worker). The car immediately jerked to the right, crashing into a tree, where parts of the vehicle became embedded into the tree. My son passed away instantly. The speedometer registered 66 mph at impact. His original speed was approximately 35mph especially since he was just stopped at the light. The witness was coming from the opposite side and stopped his car when he saw my son's vehicle crossing into his lane towards oncoming traffic.

My sister an I was on a flight from los angeles, CA into dallas, TX at the airport we rented a car from national car rental to go onto shreveport. La to see our sister who was in her last days with her fight with cancer. We're on I-20 north driving along then all of a sudden the car steering went out of control, speeding going very fast I could not stop, the went over into the medin of I-20 steal travel fast went all the way over to the other side south I-20 still could not stop no brake we hit a car on the other side of the I-20 that what keep us from going off I-20 completely. No air bags deploy at my sister died on the spot of the crash, I was knot out and the had to be air lifted to the hospital in dallas, TX she went to the mordge in tyler,TX I could not walk, shoulder broke, arm and legs we're in bad shape. The day I got out of the hospital the sister we're go to see die. Their never was a officer of the law to come an tell me any thing in regard to the crash, the gm Chevrolet 2008 Malibu we rented act just like the other gm vehicles in the ignition recall, the car engine, going out of control, steering I had no control , powers brakes not working I could not stop, no airbags deploy at all gm knew about the defect and my injuries and my sister death did not have to be not only that this model was not in the recall I need some answer as to way the very same thing happen to me and my in a fatal crash in this gm product a investigation need to be done and I need an wont answer to this crash, my will never be the same I need to know why please.
