general problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

The contact was informed that the camshaft position correlator and crankshaft and intake were not aligned and needed to be realigned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 965,162.

When I walk up to my car all I smell is gas and my gas tank doesn’t last as long as it should the first half of my tank is gone within 2-4 hours the second half last a couple days . I just had a child and I wanna make sure I can get these things fixed . I just purchased this car like 3 months ago from a dealership . . He’s been giving me the run around so I’m trying to see what I can do.

The dealer also informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the repair as the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering) had already been completed in 2014. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist as recalls are repaired one time free of charge and additional related failures would be repaired at her expense. A case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

At 97000 miles, following all service and oil changes, engine blew out. It sheared off head bolts, broke the timing chain, large amounts of metal both before and after the oil filter. Chevy has been getting away with these type of engine problems for years and I believe should be held accountable in their quality control department. Esc warning light, service esc, esc off, service traction, traction off lights are continuously coming on when driving, front end shudders/shakes when this happens and I lose speed.

(esc) traction control system needs repairs comes on causing the car to reduce engine power immediately. No matter how fast you are driving. I was lucky was going around a curve on a hwy and hit a small bumb in in road when it happened to me. Took to dealership for them to fix they comb through the car they said after resetting esc they could not repeat esc code again, but told me if it keeps happening just bring back. Luckily they didn't charge me this visit but was second time to take to them. First time they said it was some other sensors and changed them which didn't fix problem. They said I had rodent damage but not enough to cut into the wires to cause the problem. They seemed clueless as to why it does this. I read other people's forms on there chevy cars and it's not just my mailbu. I was told pretty much don't trust for a two trip I had planned. They taped up some of my wires and hoped it won't happen again, but I believe this will be the start to a larger problem.

Ignition switch (related to the key) fails intermittently causing vehicle to either not start or quit running while driving.

I bought a new starter, relay switch, ignition, switch, and paid for multiple diagnostic tests. Every mechanic sends me to the dealer ship and says they can't find the problem but believe it's the ecm. I'm taking it to the dealer today and praying this doesn't cost me another car!.

Fuel tank leaking seen several chevys where recalled but my VIN number is not including unable to drive care as dangerous fuel leak.

Car states engine power reduce on my car, will be driving and the codes will come on, speed reduced, traction turned off, acceleration is slow. No warning this is going to happen, can happen while driving high speeds or regulars speeds. Has happened or city streets and highway. If you fix one thing code some back saying it's another thing. Don't feel safe in driving the car, never know when this mode will come on.

Engine broke down 2 weeks later they said we will give you warranty and when I refill gas the fuel sensor doesn't reach full tank and steering lost its grip the same week of purchase.

Engine intermittently reduces power, engine lamp come on or blinks, runs rough. This reduce power causes the vehicle to shake and accelerator does not work properly and occurs when moving in normal driving conditions and then it all stops. Mechanics cannot recreate it. It is safety issue and can cause an accident.

When I drive the car it drives fine. In the morning when I try to leave at 7 or 8 it refuses to turn on until it is warm I guess. There's definitely an electrical issue I've only had the cat for 2 months and when it does start it says power steering and service esc. Sometimes I can't even drive over 20. My 08 Malibu ltz is having trouble shifting gears. I have to let off accelerator for it to shift gears.

I drove to the store pulled in the parking space and turned off the car. I immediately noticed something was wrong with the shifter. When I went to try to take the key out it wouldn't come out. The shifter would no longer lock into park and will come out of gear with out having my foo on the brake. Key is still stuck. It was scary because I have 3 small children. Two months later I was on my was to work when I noticed the car was having trouble shifting it seemed like. It feels like the car doesn't want to go. After doing research they say there is three recalls something with the shifter the oxygen sensor and Cadillac converter. My dealer wont fix and I owe 13000 car is to dangerous to drive my family what do I do?.

I was traveling on route 15 from va to MD. I stopped for gas, got back on the highway going around 45 and the timing chain broke which destroyed the motor. The mechanic who replaced the motor said this was a common problem with this particular motor and gm was aware of it, but have not issued a recall. The mechanic said the oil needed to be changed regularly or the engine was more prone to this problem. I did change the oil regularly and have records to prove it.

The engine vibrated an unusual amount, much more than normal. The next day we took the vehicle to the dealer for recall no. 13036, the htsa campaign id no. For this recall is 14v252. The dealer only replaced what was outlined in the recall, which was clip, retainer, strap, retainer. However, this had no effect on the problem. They would not further diagnose or fix the problem.

I have looked on line and no one seems to have a resolve for the issue. This should definitely be a defect and something that is recalled immediately as it is very dangerous.

The a/c unit is blowing hot air . . Door locks will not unlock.

Steering shakes violently,while driving or stopped,to the point of losing control. Condition is intermitent. Vehicle has been checked by dealer and diagnosed as needing a steering control module. So far Chevrolet has not offered a fix ,except to replace it at a cost of 743 . 00$ with the same part that is defective?engine light came on at 70000 miles and dealer replaced cat conv at no charge . The third issue is door locks stopped working at 74000 miles,and will only open manually. The steering is a very dangerous condition and I fear will cause a accident.

I have had nothing but trouble with this car. I should have kept exact records, but I haven't. The first issue was the factory battery in 2008. It exploded in the car within 5 months, they stated that this was not covered under warranty. I have replaced 3 batteries in this car. I have had 4 sets of tires. I have had to change the front headlights 2 times. I had the entire computer system go down 2 years ago and had to replace. When I reached out to the place I purchased the car, they wanted to charge me outrageous amounts of money. So, all of my work has been done at another auto mechanic. Of course, because of that they are not willing to do anything because the work was never done with them. I believe there is something wrong with the electrical system, along with the suspension, and god only knows what else. I am currently getting ready to replace the headlights again, along with I am needing new tires on the front end after only 4 months. I have had this car for 6 years.
