My engine light was on and after I repaired that issue, was told that my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. The maintenance guy found a letter stating 2008 Chevrolet Malibu was being recalled for faulty catalytic converter. However, when I entered my VIN number on gm's recall site my 2008 Chevrolet Malibu wasn't listed. The letter is extending the warranty on the converter for 10 years or up to 120,000. I wanted to know if there is someone at gm that I can contact directly regarding this situation. Please advise best regards.
Shifting cable is shredded won't go in park, backed into my garage thought is was in park but wasn't. Can't get car in reverse now. There is 3 recall's on vehicle one which is this shift cable. Can't get answer when this fix is going to be available. Going on 6 months. Is any one there going to get this company moving or not.
I drive a Chevrolet Malibu 2008 with just a little over 56,000 miles. I was sitting at a red light and all the sudden there was a loud noise & the car vibrated a little. One of the fans completely broke apart and the pieces flew into the radiator embedding them into the radiator. So from this I had to have my car towed to a repair facility and they had to install a new radiator & fan. The service tech could no reason for this to have happened to my car.
Dash lights and parking lights just quit working. Took to mechanic and they found out the bcm needed to be replaced.
I stopped at a gas station to put gas in my car and, when I attempted to put car in park, it remained in drive and would not stop. Upon taking my car to the auto shop, at the dealer where I purchased the car, they indicated to me that the transmission shift cable was damaged and needed to be replaced. Upon further research, there was a recall for this issue by gm (recall # 14152). However, my vehicle was not specifically recalled even though I am now having the exact issue that has been listed in the recall. The auto shop is saying that I will have to pay for repairs related to this problem. I do not believe that I should have to do so.
There was no incident. I currently have 4 recalls on my car and only one part is available for the recalls. I got the first letter in June about power steering. I think the recalls are a big safety issue for me. I have a 2 yr old son and not able to get the pieces fixed. I have called gm and the dealership for over 2 months and haven't gotten any satisfaction.
When vehicle was placed in park, the auto unlock feature activated unlocking the doors, but I could not remove keys from ignition, (ignition was in off position). I attempted to restart car and key would not turn to the start position, after several attempts to start, ignition finally moved to start position. Now the auto locks are constantly trying to unlock even when locks are in unlock position. This happens with vehicle running in park and not running in park with no keys in ignition and moving down road. Warning chime constantly dinging but no message or indicator light is displayed. Removed fuse for power locks problem with locks stops (well sure it does, no power to locks) but the warning chime still is activated but no idiot light on or message displayed. Very frustrating with this junk gm product.
Power door locks will not work they make the noise and click but do not take action to lock or unlock. This is very inconvenient having kids and having to reach all throughout the car to lock or unlock doors . Please fix this issue.
Started back in June, car started not to pick up speed when gas pedal press. Today was the worst, driving on my way from school to pick up my children from daycare, my car started jumping and car monitor stated no traction, traction off, eng power reduced, I work full time and going to school and have to kids, I can not afford to be without a vehicle. I need a response ASAP, a car rental or a replacement, I make car payments every month, and my car is not reliable and I believe is because of the recall, which is your responsibility to fix. I have called gm and I was told my car was still consider safe to operate.
This has happened twice in the last 2 months. When I turn off ignition, my key will get stuck and will not come out without jerking the steering wheel around.
I drove to the store pulled in the parking space and turned off the car. I immediately noticed something was wrong with the shifter. When I went to try to take the key out it wouldn't come out. The shifter would no longer lock into park and will come out of gear with out having my foo on the brake. Key is still stuck. It was scary because I have 3 small children. Two months later I was on my was to work when I noticed the car was having trouble shifting it seemed like. It feels like the car doesn't want to go. After doing research they say there is three recalls something with the shifter the oxygen sensor and Cadillac converter. My dealer wont fix and I owe 13000 car is to dangerous to drive my family what do I do?.
My 2008 chevy Malibu 2lt is experiencing issues where it basically loses power to the engine. The code that came up is p2135 and the messages were service traction/service esc/engine power reduced. Once the engine is shut down, it won't start until the codes are cleared. My husband & I were driving at 50mph and all of a sudden the car wouldn't let us go more than 20mph and we were almost hit by cars behind us and barely had enough time to get over. I am very upset about this issue because I take very good care of my car and there was no warning sign that something was going wrong prior to all of the messages coming up (engine light etc).
I was attempted to put my 6 month old daughter in the car. I tried to unlock the doors with my keyless entry and all but the rear passenger door would unlock. Even when using the unlock button on one of the front car does would not open. I had to climb over the seat to unlock the door to get my daughter in the car. Over the course of the next year this would randomly happen to that specific door. On Thursday may 7th, 2015, this same issue happened again, but now both car locks in the rear were not opening with the remote entry or the unlock button on the front doors. This to me is a safety concern. Especially with a young child that is in the back seat. I searched the problem and there has been a lot of people complaining on online forums about this happening to their brand new cars and used cars over the years. I bought my car used so I do not know if this was an issue with it in the past.
Driver's door would not latch shut and door would freely open. After pulling the door shut multiple times it finally latched and I could drive. When trying to exit the vehicle the inside door handle would not open the door. I had to roll my power window down to open the door from the outside. After I got out the door would not latch when I tried to close it. After multiple attempts the door would still not latch shut and I had to physically hold the door shut the rest of the way home where it never would latch. Research online indicates that there are numerous reports that the door latch/lock assemblies fail which doesn't seem safe if you can't exit the car or if it were to come unlatched while driving.
Door locks stop working two years ago, noise with steering and power train. Every time I turn it makes a crazy noise.
While traveling down the highway with my car on cruise control going about 70mph, a car cut me off and I had to slam on my breaks to avoid a crash. In the process of breaking, my knee hit a long key on my keychain and caused the key in the ignition to turn to the off position. I immediately lost all power including the ability to easily steer. Luckily I was able to put on my hazards and get to the side of the rode. I then put the car in park and it was able to restart.
My vehicle looses power and ability to accelerate suddenly while on the highway traveling around 65 mph. This causes a very dangerous situation for me each time it occurs because I am driving at a high speed and most of the time on a busy highway. I have to turn my hazards on and do my best to get off the road all while the vehicle continues to slow itself down and loose all power. I've come so very close to being hit or causing an accident. It is very frightening. "engine power reduced" is the message that appears. The check engine light came on and I took it in a few days later to a mechanic who read the codes. There were several that came up. I explained everything that happened with the car and after looking over everything decided I needed a new cam shaft sensor. Car drove well for about a week and then the problem came back. I have taken it back in to the mechanic and they're unsure of what the problem could be now. They have told me unless I can get the vehicle to them right when the problem is happening they're unsure what could actually be the source. How am I supposed to drive to a mechanic or a dealer at a coasting speed of 10 mph without stopping before I get there? I have read several chevy forum threads and found that this is a very common problem amongst Malibus and impalas. Many people have spent hundreds of dollars making repairs that mechanics and dealerships say will correct the issue yet have stated the issue still occurs in their vehicles. I refuse to throw money into repairs if there isn't a known source as I have already made one repair that dis not fix my vehicles problem! with the number of chevy vehicles experiencing the same promblems, why isn't this a recall???.
The automatic door locks on the passenger side of my car stopped working (but occasionally start working off and on). I didn't realize this until a few days later. I feel like this is a huge safety issue knowing that at any moment a stranger could walk up to my car, at any stoplight or stop sign and be able to freely open my doors and enter my car with ease. The door locks will randomly work here and there without my knowing and this is not ok! this defect raises the probability of someone being able to get into my car freely without me ever knowing, or be able to get into my car while I'm sitting at a stoplight. I am very concerned for my safety in this matter and wish to have gm fix the issue considering the many online forums with thousands of people having the same issue on these cars at about 80000 miles.
I was driving down interstate 85 and applied the brakes because the traffic had slowed and the ignition shut off causing the power steering to go out and the brakes stopped functioning. This has happens almost every single time you apply the brakes and it has been an ongoing issues since December of 2013. After almost being in 3 accidents I stopped driving the car for fear of my family's safety. This car should be a part of the gm ignition and power steering recalls but everytime I call gm/Chevrolet I am given conflicting information. In one call my car is a part of the recall and the next call it is not. Gm is not being fair or honest in their assessment of which vehicles need to be recalled. The car will not pass inspection because of these issues. I tried driving the car with the single key as I had heard on the news and for the 1 mile that I drove the car in that instance I had no problems but I was afraid to chance it any further. The ignition switch recall needs to be expanded to include more vehicles.
My vehicle started making a loud popping noise in the front when making a turn. The loud popping noise has now been happening just driving down the road and even worse at lower speeds of 20-35 mph. Along with a squeaky bouncing noise that is constant. I took it to my local dealership and I was told it had something to do with the steering column loosing it's lubrication and nothing can be done put replace the whole thing. The problem is so annoying and I feel like everyone can hear it. I am about to just trade it in on a Honda or Toyota even though I have only ever owned a Chevrolet.
Rec'd two safety recall notices for this vehicle. 2 months apart. Local dealer does not have parts, we will be notified when available are we going to have an accident before parts are available?.
Sun roof on passenger door leaking water after it rain. I was told that right side drain was stopped up. On April 12 the sun roof was leaking again. I think it is a defect and need a recall. I have had cars with sun roof before and never had a problem. It is my understanding that I am not the only one with a Malibu having this issue. The service manager at the car dealership told me he has a Malibu and is also having this problem. Of course it is not costing him $100 every six months because he knows how to fix it. If this is happening every 6 months, there is something wrong with the product. I spoke with gm customer service but I didn't get any help. I was told because they have not been ordered to recall there was nothing they could do.
My chevy 2008 Malibu, the power locks stopped working on 3 out of 4 doors.
There are five recalls on my vehicle and was told that I would be notified when parts came in. At this point there were only 2 recalls and now there are 5. I have yet to receive any recall letters on my vehicle. In the case that no one knows what the recalls are here they are: NHTSA campaign number: 14e044000, 14v252000, 14v22400, 14v153000, 12v460000, 14v153, 12v460. These are the numbers that I have found on recall websites. I found out about the recalls from the news. I have never received any letters in regard to these recalls. When will something be done? I am scared to drive my car and I need my car. Please respond to me in a timely matter this is the 9th time I have tried to get information on when my car will be fixed.
Wire burn in car and it is smells like smoke and my car had a leaky roof and gm refuse to exchange it and it also goes it jerks into gear. And last week when I tried to miss a tire in road I almost got killed car almost turned over.
The car had an issue with the syatem setting a code to check transaction and esc and the brake lights would stick on. This happened about once every 2 or 3 months. Now that the gm recall has been done it is setting these same codes 2 or 3 times a day. But instead of my brake lights being on, the brake lights don't work, my cruise control doesn't work, my tail lights don't work the car still says service transaction and esc daily. This recall has made my problem much worse. It is dangerous to drive as I never know if my tail lights and brake lights are working or if my antilocks or stabilization systems work. Gm needs to find a different solution to this problem.
The door lock actuator failed on all doors. This is a common problem and should be a recall with gm. Check the forums to see the number of people with the same problem. The doors will not unlock/lock from key fob or from driver's door panel.
