1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2020

Low beam passenger side headlight works intermittently while driving. It turns out that it was due to the electrical wiring harness burning out. This is not an easy fix for this model, to gain access to the headlight assembly the entire front bumper needs to be removed. I was ticketed and had to pay the fine since I was not able to get a shop to take off the bumper within the 24 hour grace period allotted by the local police department.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

2008 chevy Malibu passenger side headlight repeatedly has burnt out socket, melting inside. Wiring harness and bulb have been changed out three times and issue reoccurs within days. Bulb has not been touched. Wiring seems in tact. No one seems to be able to resolve this issue, even though this seems to be an extremely common issue on forums. We'd like to be able to use this vehicle and safely. Thank you.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2016

Headlamp wiring assembly required replacing after pig tail melted creating a potential fire hazard. This occurred twice 12/17/2015 and 12/20/2017. Melting occurred each time. This is a fire waiting to happen. Invoices for each event are attached.

4 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2013

I am having similar issues as others with wiring/electrical. Lastest incident involved loss of ac/defrost/level controls. Prior to this loss, there was a very strong burning smell coming thru the vents when the control level was set to 1-4. There were no visible sparks or fire; however, the wiring under the glove department was extremely hot. Although there wasnt a fatality or visible fire other risks were involved. My family was in the car (adults & children) & we were 500 miles from home (returning from vacation). Being on the road, narrowed options on identifying the root cause. The air remained off & windows were down for the remainder commute in 90 degree rainy weather. There are other issues of concern. The engine light is now on??? the same issue occurred in Nov 2012 with the heater. At this time, when the wires were examined it "magically" started working. In January 2012, the door chime became very faint, the seatbelt chimes when in use, & the front door speakers do not work. In 2009, the door locks began to malfunction. Sometimes they will lock sometimes they will not. I find it very disturbing that a recall has not been issued; it is very clear there is a safety hazard. I hope you take this issue seriously!.

5 Wiring problem

2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes in regards to unsatisfactory customer service at dealership for unnecessary repair work and seeks reimbursement. Instead of fixing the wiring harness as described in the safety recall notice the dealership replaced the brake sensor and charged him $245. 03. The consumer stated while driving, he discovered the cruise control had not been fixed. , even though the technician noted everything was operable. The consumer returned to the dealer, where they kept the car for a day and a half and replaced the bcm and dtc. Updated 09/10/lj.
