general problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu - part 2

I was driving on the highway, going 60mph. The car suddenly slowed down to about 5mph and started violently shaking, and I had to quickly pull to the shoulder lane, "reduced engine speed" appeared on the dashboard, along with "esc traction control". Restarted my car and the light went off. About 15 mins later, it did the same thing. This is extremely dangerous for myself and other people around me.

One of my new tires continually deflate. After taking to tire CO. 6of8wks to get air, I was told I have a cracked wheel and will pay $500 for a used wheel or up to $1000 for authorized dealer to replace it. I pay $50 extra f/platinum warranty and had to pay for airbag svc'ing to get inspection--and $100 deductible from warranty company. In 2yrs, I've paid $1200 f/warranty plus $150 deductible@authorized service ctr-pinkerton chev in lynchburg, va-and it took 3 weeks that I had to bum a ride to work or pay a cab. Now, I'm riding on a "donut" and my gas mileage is <8mpg. . . . . . . . W/a $389 car note and $200 car insurance note.

After coming to a complete stop and then the attempting to accelerate, the vehicle started to jerk. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who replaced the accelerator pedal twice however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the certified mechanic, and it was determined that water was leaking into the wiring harness and the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 265,000.

Vehicle was moving at about 35 mph when the drivers information center indicated a electronic stability service, traction control service and esc off messages. This happened multiple times over a two day period. Car was taken to dealer for diagnostics and they said that the computer had stored a p0300 code which is engine misfire. The engine runs fine however there is a slight vibration at idle while in park or neutral. Gm also sent out a letter to me stating that there was a problem with the throttle posistion sensor that may cause this to happen. The dealer did not attempt to diagnos the problem with the sensor and stated that the engine had a bad #2 cyclinder with compression at 100lbs. The p0300 code can be caused by the various electronic messages that have appeared and the engine is not the problem. They wanted to tear it down at a cost of $2300 to fix a problem that does not exist. This car only has 39000 miles on it. There are numerous reports of this same isssue with NHTSA and gm has not dealt with the problem. Another issue relating to this is the fact that the engine reduced power message comes on in some vehilcle and the car slows down and is very dangerous to drive on the higways. So far my car has not done that. I believe there should be some pressure exerted on gm to correct these multiple problems with their vehicle since the government bailed them out along with our taxpayer funds.

I had to have over $2500 worth of work done to my car, which had something to do with some torque sensor and other parts - I see that there was a recall on other chevy Malibu's in previous model years. I am wondering how long this recall will take, my year is 2010 and not currently on the recall list. Prior to that, I had just paid $2000 for other work needed on this vehicle that was out of warranty. I've had so many issues w/this car. I have receipts but they are currently in storage - I am unable to upload them right now.

Whenever I press the gass and I let it go the car keeps going and when I try to stop the car takes longer to stop because the engine try to keep going so I have to press the break harder and when finally stops after like 5 minutes the car goes normal.

Taken to independent auto repair shop, throttle body replaced. Codes found at garage po300, p2135. Began 2/12/16 and randomly happened through 3/9/16.

In addition, the "service esc, engine power reduced and traction control" was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on multiple occasions where it was diagnosed that the throttle body, the throttle body sensor, spark plugs, torque sensor, and the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The dealer also stated that a carbon cleaning needed to be performed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

In addition, the contact stated that service esc was displayed across the message board as the engine lost power. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that a sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 83,535. Oo.

I received a safety recall notice via mail from gm due to a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety. The notice clearly stated why the (Chevrolet Malibu 2010) was being recalled. The reasons for the recall indeed persisted in the vehicle that I was currently operating so I had it serviced as stated in the notice to do. Messages such (engine power reduced, service esc, service traction control, as well as service airbag) appeared. After a couple of days of having the vehicle serviced, the same problems that existed before resumed. What now!?.

Driving the vehicle at 70 mph on the highway when I received the following messages in the dic: "service esc" "service traction control" and "eng reduced pwr. " vehicle would not accelerate past 60 mph, and that was with pedal all the way to the floor. When I had to stop, the engine shook. Luckily, I was able to drive the vehicle home - although, at one point, I was driving 20 mph on the highway acceleration lane because the car could not accelerate at all. The messages cleared when I shut the engine off and turned it back on; however, the engine light remained on. Dealer found dtc of "p2135" and replaced the throttle body. They said it was not covered under the emissions/engine/powertrain warranty and charged $500 for the repair.

Vehicle was parked and caught on fire when it was not running. The vehicle was in use earlier in the day. The fire started under the hood and burned the entire front of the car and caused some interior damage as well.

I was driving back to work on my lunch break and three alerts came across the screen. 1)service esc 2) engine power reduced 3) service traction my vehicle would barely gain speed. When I was forced to stop at a red light, and the light finally turned green I was nearly rear ended as the car behind me was accelerating, and my car would barely creep forward. I was able to make it to my work parking lot as my vehicle almost did not get up to speed. Our vehicle is going to a Chevrolet dealership tomorrow to determine what is causing this.

I was driving my car down a city street and the service esc light came on and the reduced engine power light came on. The car's rpm's were surging back and forth. I did manage to get the car to my mechanic and get the throttle actuator cleaned off as he said it was dirty. Now the service esc light intermittently is going off again and its been about two weeks. I don't want the reduced power to happen while I am on the highway.

The vehicle is a 2010 chevy Malibu with less then 61,000 miles on it. I purchased the vehicle last year and the transmission has went out on it 3 times within a month. All three times I have taken it to an certified Chevrolet dealership. After the second time they fixed my transmission the steering shaft was loose and I could have been killed or killed someone. After about 4 days after repairs the transmission will go out again. The car is not even 5 years old with 61,000 miles on it. This is truly disappointing, and it has cost me money and time.

Takata recall-my air bag light has been on since shortly after I purchased the vehicle in Aug. 2011. I am terrified if I am in an accident they won't deploy and myself or a passenger may be seriously injured. My son and I were coming back home from denver and my car started acting strange like it was going to die and it sure did while we were almost out of eisenhower tunnel on the west end, we were almost rear ended by an 18 wheeler! thank god he made it around us safely and no accident occurred. I am sure I reported this already shortly after it happened and never received a response in any shape or form. I was able to get the car started after about ten minutes and drove home without any further problems, was shaking like a leaf all the way. . . . My son too. I have also had problems with the car shimmering when I apply the brake at 55-60 mph and it isn't just a little its sever and doesn't stop until I get back under that speed, I am afraid of loosing control. I do want to say I am very disappointed in the car, I bought it because I believed it would be a great vehicle to own and I was proud to drive it. . . . The Chevrolet emblem meant something to me. I doubt I would ever buy another one, I would be afraid to! it is so sad that the quality of products and the pride in the manufacturing of them has taken a back seat to profit. . . . . The recalls in this country are ridiculous! can't recall specifc date as to tunnel incident, its been a few years back, the other two problems have been happening since I purchased the vehicle in 2011.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the ecs warning light illuminated as the vehicle independently decelerated to 20 mph. The vehicle also failed to respond to the contact's attempts to accelerate. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they had received additional complaints for the failure, but not enough to issue a recall. The manufacturer offered no additional assistance. The failure and current mileage was 104,000. Kmj.

The rack and pinion on drivers side end rattles at slow speed. I have tried 3 different brand front brakes and all have squeaked,the transmission cooler line started leaking. The car has 69,000 on it as of now 1/26/2013. Dealer want fix any of the problem under the drive train warranty. Also has cold start engine knock.

There was an intermittent which caused the esc and traction control lights to flash, the alarm to sound and the words that they were off plus the words traction control and esc service to come up. At the time the cruise control disengaged. This occurred several times. I brought the vehicle to the dealer on sept 16th and was told that I shouldn't be concerned about this intermittent. But it occurred again and then on 10/2/13 the warnings stayed n permanently for three days frightening my wife. I brought the vehicle in for service today and they said they fixed the problem using some dielectric grease.

Trans appears to be slipping . . . When accelerating car does not move . . Car bucks when gears shift.
