Electronic stability control esc light comes on and says service then esc off. This is a safety issue with these cars. Seat belts fail. Safety issue. And our will not start because the anti theft system is activated for no reason. All of these are consistent with several other complaints. Gm should be ashamed for selling vehicles that fail. Approximately 78,000 miles. Hopefully they will step up and correct these problems!!.
I have service esc light (electronic stability control) and power steering lights that just recently came on in my 2010 chevy Malibu. I have called gm and they refuse to fix the issue because it supposedly isn't under my VIN number 1g1zc5eb8a4113770, even though my car is experiencing the same issue as listed in the recalls. I have visited numerous sites from people who have 2010 Malibu's and have had the same issue with them refusing to fix the issue because it again supposedly wasn't listed under their VIN. I will be getting a lawyer and if my car causes me to get into an accident I have given all information to go forward with a lawsuit. This is absolutely unacceptable and I will never buy another car from gm!!!!!!!! now I have to pay out of pocket and I have no idea what it will cost me!!!! I don't know why I am even bothering to write this complaint because nothing will be done!!!.

On March 1, 2017 at 28981 miles, the airbag light came on, (not the first time). The next day, the stability control and the abs lights both also came on. In both occasions the car was moving at about 40 mph on a city street. I took it to the dealer, they charged me $153 to get a diagnosis. They wanted another $850 to have it fixed. I took it to another shop that did it for $190. These were 2 separate problems, one was the airbag light (a connection under the front passenger seat), and the other was a sensor in the left front wheel (the stability/abs light).
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the service esc warning indicator illuminated intermittently. In addition, the brake light illuminated without the pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the brake light stopped functioning after the pedal was depressed. In addition, the traction and cruise control failed. The failure occurred approximately six times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal position sensor needed to be replaced and the brake switch needed to be calibrated. The switch was calibrated; however, the failure recurred. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number" 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
It first started when my stability light would come on and my car acted like it was going to die when I was in a stopping position. This happened about 3 times. Then I was at a stop light and my stability light came on and my car just died. I took my vehicle in to the dealership and they replaced my computer system. On my receipt they indicated due to short in the ecm. Replaced and reprogrammed the ecm. Since then there has been one time when my car acted like it was going to die. I turned off the heater and radio thinking something else was causing this to happen and my car did not die.

In addition, the brake lights illuminated independently when the brake pedal was not depressed. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed but the cause of the failure was not found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA campaign number; 14v252000(electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). I have had the recall notice (report receipt date: may 14, 2014 NHTSA campaign number: 14v252000 component(s): electrical system , electronic stability control , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic , vehicle speed control ) previously taken care of by oakley Chevrolet Buick repair shop about a year ago. The problem has returned , the brake lights do not operate properly (they are on when the brake is not applied & when you apply the brake they go off). I returned the car to the shop and they stated that they could not duplicate that problem, but that it may be the brake apply sensor. They had my car all day, and could not tell me what the problem is. . . . . I picked up my car and now I am trying through gm to get the matter addressed. I have been informed to get a second opinion. Which I will do and I will be in touch. In addition to that issue, now the drivers seat belt chimes that the belt is not in use when it is and the car is driving. Another safety issue.

Dealership states that all they have to fix according to recall 13036 is the body control module. The traction control and electronic stability control, illumination light flashing off and on saying service soon, although mentioned in recall letter, is not included and we must pay over $350 to repair to problem.
I received a recall notice 1 week prior to this incident. Recall #13036. I was almost rear ended when my brake lights failed. I was on my way home from work and watched my stability control and traction warning lights come on. I contacted gm and was told that no replacement parts are available. Gm also stated that they are not responsible for towing or a rental even though it is a defect in the design and/or manufacture of the body control module. I have been without a car for 4 days at this point and gm stated that no replacement parts are yet available. My car is a shiny peice of junk that I can pay for yet cannot drive because of the defect. I am a veteran and I am absolutely disgusted. All of the above problems are directly related to the defective part.
The traction control & service electronic stability control (esc) lights were coming on. Also, the steering column angle sensor was found to be corroded, which may have caused the lights to stay on.
