general problems of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu - part 1

Is been a few times when I'm in a light and when I'm about to take off the car like holds up and it doesn't wants to move forward unless I hit the gas harder or just park it and shut it off and is been smoking trough the a. C. In less then 6 months I had to repair sertain stuff 3 times. First I took it to replace the fan assembly hybrid battery and a new hybrid battery the oil filter and the oil gasket cause it was leaking oil and update the software. I took it out in 3 weeks it was back in the shop cause I had to replace the timing chains and high pressure fuel pump and preform a system scan wich found that there is a mechanical issue with the engine and also the high fuel pressure was making slot of noise. And put a new high pressure fuel pump a high pressure fuel pipe. I spencer a few dollars on that. I took it out it was ok till it started growing smoke trough the a. C again it keeped holding back on me in the lights and it shuted off on me twice in were I had to hit parking and shut off and back on so it can work. And finally woke I'm driving on south 95 in 60mph the car started smoking trough the a. C then it made this loud noise in the motor so when I pulled over on the highway I see that all my motor oil had spilled in the floor and the motor started to smoke like crazy and the car indicated me to shut off motor. I had to tow my car home and park it to get it fix again. But is crazy cause in less then 6 months all this happened and is still parked to b fixed.

Car will stall out and won't go at time without pumping the gas. We have replaced vacuum pump and both O2 sensors. Power steering locks up when hitting a small bump, won't start unless I moved the drivers seat up and back, if I use the blinkers my radio goes off if I use my high beams the radio freezes. It will do weeks with no issues then one day it will start acting up and does it for days or weeks. Chevy says there is no recap for that model but I've read multiple complaints about the same things so why is it not being addressed by gm.

Car stalls when stopping at stop signs. . When turning lose power lights, radio, and steering. Has happened 4 times this year. .

After about a month with my car my bluetooth system went out and would not let me connect, then after switching to the actually usb port to play music and talk it still will not connect.

My chevy Malibu stalled out on 3 occasions now. This occurs after being at a stop and applying pressure on the gas to place the car back in motion. I was nearly struck by an oncoming vehicle on 2 occasions when the car stalled out. Would have had ample time at a green light had the vehicle not stalled. Power steering is lost when this occurs. I have to power off and repower the vehicle to get started again, resulting in smoke coming out from under the hood and a smell of burnt rubber.

Loss of power a lot. Auto stop feature makes a strong fuel smell. Burning and smoke coming from front right side under hood. Bought this car a month ago.

Drove to appointment with no issues or indications of anything wrong. Finished appointment and started vehicle, the check stabilitrak warning came on. Pulled into lane & vehicle immediately reduced power, unable to accelerate rapidly and almost causing an accident. Warning light for engine overspeed came on. Engaged cruise control, would not disengage when braking, or by steering wheel control without several attempts. Was able to slowly increase speed to 50 mph, made it home via hilly secondary roads (max 50 mph) and stopped vehicle (brake; still in drive), engine tried to go to the engine rest mode prior to shifting to park. Shifted to park, engine tried to re-start and wouldn't automatically disengage attempting to turn over. Shut off the engine and pulled key. Would not re-start, but would crank. When letting go of key in the steering wheel column, the engine would still try to turn over on its own with a loud high pitched whine. Had to quickly remove key entirely. I have video clips together of this incident, available by email. Had new battery delivered overnight, did not fix issue. Had vehicle towed to garage and will cost $12,100 to fix by replacing long block. Please help - this is incredibly distressing.

Vehicle occasionally loses power when in traffic or reduced speed, stabilitrak malfunctions consistently, initiating "limp mode", power steering went out this morning as my speed reduced.

I woke up and went to the store and when I came out to start the car it didn't start. The lights and radio came on and everything work except windows will not go up or down. The message center then showed message "service power steering" car wont start now and battery and everything else is good and new.

Having problems with the eassist system. The auto stop function cause the car to stall and stop and shake sometimes while driving and stop at the light or stop sign I have to drive in manuel mode to drive the car. If the car not in part of it's neutral the car has rolled backwards off the parking pad. That happened just one time to me. After reading about other people reporting this, I keep the safety break on. Also I read about the recall on the e assist . I'm currently having the same issues but my VIN number is not included. I got the car used and only had it for a little over a year.

Service stabititi track came on last night along with traction control and arb I have owned my car less then 1 year and put 10000 miles on it.

When you are driving the electrical system cuts off, making it hard to steer and affecting other electrical controls such touch screen, lights, and control panel. The system usually shuts off for a brief moment when utilizing power locks, turn signals, and power windows. Recently, the engine won't start but after waiting for a few moments, it starts up again. This has been going on for the past 8 months.

My gauge cluster started malfunctioning 2 weeks ago while sitting in car on parked position. Kicks on for about 30 minutes then will go black doesn't matter if I'm driving. My gm mechanic ordered the part but still has not arrived, there are other complaints for the same issue and this problem has not been corrected it seems up to this year. How am I supposed to fix my chevy if I cannot get the part. This is unacceptable.

Driving on the highway and battery charging system and stability track error msg showed up. Car completely shut off and had to be towed.

My 2013 chevy Malibu lt1 eco is a hybrid. One day driving to work my power steering started going out. As I kept driving, because I was close to work, my car would gradually start dying. Suddenly while driving my car died on me and my power steering was completely gone. I had to struggle just to get off to the side of the road. I almost got hit trying to pull over. Seeing how its a newer vehicle and well maintained I don't see how this isn't a mechanical problem with a faulty part. Calling around to the chevy dealership mechanic shops they are saying its the alternator generator that comes with hybrid vehicles. After looking online I've seen a lot of people are having this same issue with faulty parts and even some were recalled, I don't see why chevy is not recalling this vehicle to get this problem fixed. It's just putting drivers at risk. I drive on a highway that has heavy traffic from logging trucks. If my power steering would have went out while a logging truck was coming towards me, I could have been killed along with my passenger.

When operating my vehicle when I'm at a stop sign or a red light or stuck in traffic the car completely dies therefore I have to put it in neutral or park to restart the car which is dangerous while I have children with me at the time or even by myself while in heavy traffic.

This happened two days in a row I was driving me so me turning a corner and my car just stopped steer wheel locked up could move the car or nothing near had an accident I'm a petrified because I don't know when this god happens again I vaule my life this recall seriously needs to be looked into I worked hard many long days to save to get this car just for it to turn out bad I seriously need help with this life threatening issue.

The electrical system will randomly shuts down. Usually starts with the entertainment console, and progresses to the power steering, and eventually a full power shut down. Stationary or while driving, doesn't matter, complete shut down. Vehicle does restart as if nothing happened. Dealership and gm no help. This problem has been ongoing since 2018 with multiple dealership services, and 2 seperate complaints to gm. 2 near miss collisions due to power steering loss.

The charging system went completely dead while driving. I had no power steering everything went black no speed, no lights, I couldn't even turn on my hazards while I was sitting in the middle lane of the interstate hoping I wouldn't get killed because of this. Why is there no warning to let you know your battery and charging system is dead. Why is this not a recall from chevy? please advise.

A few times that I have been driving my car, I have experienced issues with the car turning off and losing power steering and control while in motion. The whole car turn off and wheel locks up, preventing me from being able to control the car. Countless searching through forums led me to find many people who have experienced the same issue. And from the forums, many claim the reason for these problems happening is faulty battery cables that gm that doesn't want to admit. Sometimes it happens when I turn on my blinker others its random but the car stalls and the radio turns off along with the power steering.

Takata recall the lights on my dash kept going in and out while I was driving and while stationary. While my car was off, with no key in the ignition, the gauges would make clicking sounds and bounce up and down about an 8th of an inch. The lights on the dash would stay off for days at a time, making it impossible for me to see how fast I was going or how much gas was in the car. Sometimes the lights would click on for about 30 seconds and then the speedometer would be stuck at the last speed I was going at, for days, without showing anything on the digital speedometer. When I took it to get looked at, no codes were found. My car kept dying while I was driving, went and had my battery and alternator tested and they were 100% fine. Car dash lights started flashing on and off while I was going around a curve. Check engine, oil, wiper fluid, gas light, everything flashed on and off, then my steering locked up, causing me to go off of the road and hit a tree. My car was totaled.

While driving on the highway my car will just shut down completely then turn back on. Sometime the radio will go out with power steering, etc. It just shuts down for no reason. We've replacement the battery cable several months ago as we had the exact same problem and it worked for about 6 months. If I use my turn signal sometimes it will shut down and turn back on. Did it about 20 times today on the way to work. With my two small children in the car with me. I am usually driving around 65 to 75 mph when this happens.

Door locks engaging and disengaging randomly while driving, headlights turning off and on randomly while driving, car starting while parked in garage (no remote start). Dealership replaced bcm, could not guarantee this fixed the problem. Indicated they had never seen the issue before. Within 2 weeks, all issues repeated themselves. Returned to dealership. The dealership kept the car for 2 weeks and then called me and left a message to pick it up as they could not find the issue. When I called back, the dealership said "it was a good thing you haven't picked up the vehicle yet, it started on its own 3 times this morning". If I had picked this vehicle up, the issue would have happened again while I was at home. Case has been filed with Chevrolet customer car, and sufs (gm global safety). No action has been taken. No engineers have been sent down to look at the car from gm headquarters. After the car started on its own at the dealership, they changed out the ignition switch, but again, cannot guarantee the issues won't reoccur. Car was returned to the dealership for a third time on may 2nd after the headlights turned on and off 3 times on the way to work on may 1st. After having the vehicle until may 10th, I was informed that the dealership could not find an issue, and I should pick the car up as they could not diagnose the problem if they do not see it. The response from gm has been a joke. The car is not safe to drive. I cannot drive it at night, and cannot part it in my garage, as it could start and cause my entire family to die from carbon monoxide poisoning, or could overheat from running in park while we are sleeping and start a fire. I cannot in good conscience sell the car either. So, I am stuck with an unsafe vehicle that general motors will not take responsibility for. My concern is that there may be other vehicles on the road with the same issue.

The car will stall while pulling into traffic or at a red light or stop sign. After mmseveral stops it drains the battery completely. No problems when driving long distances on the interstate. Very dangerous. L.

While driving my 2013 chevy Malibu on the highway & turnpike, I was driving approx 60-70 miles and hour and then out of nowhere the vehicle decreased speed down to 30 mph and also had me cause an accident with the drivers behind me. The check engine light then came on and a message "engine power has been reduced". I was able to pull the car over; however, this is a danger and should be resolved as still this continues to occur since I have contacted general motors and advised of the safety issue. Still have not seen a recall on this issue yet which I was shocked. I asked the gentleman if there have been other complaints and he stated yes. So I am very shocked that this issue has not been resolved. My vehicle now is out of warranty and still mechanics do not know what is wrong and can not fix this issue. I do not feel that I have to pay for parts that this vehicle does not while they try to pinpoint the problem. Literally the mechanic at day Chevrolet during the diagnostic just said to lets start somewhere and see if that resolves the issue. I don't believe I should have to pay for parts that may or may not resolve the issue. Since then I now have more lights popping up regarding traction stability, parking break (which was replaced and did not fix the issue) track control, etc have come up and seems to have disabled my anti-lock brakes. Could someone pleas contact me if there is a solution for this if someone is aware of what part or parts will fix this defect.

Multiple times while since I've had it it has reduced engine power ( stabiltrak) on me while driving. Just recently check engine light came on with codes reading for camshaft actuators failing and pcm failing. The car chugs will driving and has even died while operating.

When driving my cars electric system will shut down. Radio goes off then lights on the dash go crazy and steering wheel jerks real hard and loss of steering for a few seconds then it all comes back on.

While driving the vehicle the car powers down. The radio turns off, lights on dash goes out and power steering locks up. If driven over a speed bump or pothole all electrical componets power down. I was driving and put my signal on, the vehicle shutdown and steering wheel locked until it rebooted itsself. There is no difference on street, highway nor speed. When it looses power there is no way to alert the nearby drivers with hazard lights as everything has been shut off. On going matter, has been to dealer multiple times and different locations.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they would call the contact back, but they had not. The failure mileage was approximately 118,899.

I was driving on the highway going 70mph and the car lost power and the service stabili track and reduce power messages came on and slowed down to 30mph. Thank god I got to pull over safely. My son and I had to be towed home.

The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle suddenly stopped moving and was unable to change gears to move off the roadway. The failure occurred without warning. An independent mechanic was able to go to the location and serviced the vehicle by replacing the alternator assembly; however, the failures continued. The contact stated that the stability control warning indicator flashed, various other warning indicators and gauges flickered, and the steering wheel became inoperable. Once the warning indicators had gone off, the contact was able to maneuver the steering wheel in either direction; however, the failure was getting progressively worse. The contact also stated that the key was unable to be removed from the ignition. The dealer (vaden of beaufort, 103 robert smalls pkwy, beaufort, SC 29906, (843) 525-4100) was contacted to schedule an diagnostic appointment. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Takata recall I have my car for less than 6 month dashboard is dead it jumps on and off from time to time , services lights are coming on , my steerling wheel is pulling to the right I can't let it go with it pulling and almost causing a wreck on the road.

While driving on the highway and city streets my car electrical system cut completely off while engine is still running. It jerks the car to left or right and then cuts back mlm on. Can't steer until the power comes back on if I'm driving or parked. This has happened on several occasions. Check engine lights comes on then message of engine power reduced. Have been in service several times about check engine light coming on and still cant fix the problem. This is dangerous and afraid I will get in an accident soon. Something has to be done about this.
