Upon exiting the expressway and coming to a complete stop the vehicle loses all power. I then must put the vehicle in park to restart it, I also have to push on the accelerator to give the vehicle gas as it will not start without performing this step. This issue has happened approximately 20 times. I have had my mechanic inspect my vehicle and he is unable to find any issues as when this happens no codes appear on a reader and no warnings are displayed on the dash.
When driving, the car will suddenly stop and lose power. It will restart again but will not have power steering. This happens on city streets, because of the problem we have kept it off highways. Unknown the cause, there was a recall about this happening but per the VIN it was completed. We have owned the car 7 months.
Engine power reduced continues to show up after several fixes including an engine replacement many times I will be driving and the vehicle will turn off or slow down to dangerously slow speeds as low as 10 miles and hour. This is a constant issue and other Malibu drivers are experiencing.
Car completely loses engine power and electrical power while driving ! this has happened many times in last 6 months. Dealer found nothing wrong, no codes or evidence of any problems. This seems to be systemic problem with Malibu and other similar vehicles in gm family according to several online websites. This is very dangerous and will kill people !!!.
Service stabilitrak and engine power reduced display at high speeds causing car to drastically decrease speed. Cannot be fixed. Have tried to repair for years.
While driving the whole car turned off. Steering wheel locked up, engine cut off, and light went out. This has been happening for a couple of months now. While I'm driving the car will shut off. It has done this while I have been on the highway and also in the city. This is very dangerous. Can not figure out the issue.
While driving the car will shut down unexpectedly, causing a panic situation!.
My car continues to lose power and with it comes so many electrical issues. Brake assist wont disengage, no power beyond engine idling, and the service battery charging system continues to pop up even though it and the battery in the trunk were replaced by the dealer. I've had this car for a month and it's given me nothing but problems.
Drove to appointment with no issues or indications of anything wrong. Finished appointment and started vehicle, the check stabilitrak warning came on. Pulled into lane & vehicle immediately reduced power, unable to accelerate rapidly and almost causing an accident. Warning light for engine overspeed came on. Engaged cruise control, would not disengage when braking, or by steering wheel control without several attempts. Was able to slowly increase speed to 50 mph, made it home via hilly secondary roads (max 50 mph) and stopped vehicle (brake; still in drive), engine tried to go to the engine rest mode prior to shifting to park. Shifted to park, engine tried to re-start and wouldn't automatically disengage attempting to turn over. Shut off the engine and pulled key. Would not re-start, but would crank. When letting go of key in the steering wheel column, the engine would still try to turn over on its own with a loud high pitched whine. Had to quickly remove key entirely. I have video clips together of this incident, available by email. Had new battery delivered overnight, did not fix issue. Had vehicle towed to garage and will cost $12,100 to fix by replacing long block. Please help - this is incredibly distressing.
My daughters Malibu literally ignited and caught fire while she was in it over the weekend. She was parked in a parking lot, noticed a funny smell, turned the ignition off and smoke was billowing out of the engine. She got out of the vehicle and realized the engine was on fire. It went from a small fire to everything but the trunk engulfed in less than 3 minutes. These things don't just happen randomly. I feel there was a mechanical issue or something not built correctly.
While in the middle of traffic at a stop light the car shut completely off where my steering went out, the key was locked in the ignition and I had to get someone to help push the car into a parking lot for safety. The car has been jerking, will not pick up speed and if sitting at a stoplight too long, the car will shut off. When I put the car in reverse, the car either jerks or shuts off bu then starts back up.
Car cuts off and stalls and lights flickering.
At 85000 miles my timing chain just went bad. . But it also known that this happens with this car. . . Why is this not corrected by company. . . That's 2000 dollars that ppl don't have. . . . And there's nothing you can do to prevent it. . . . . Don't have papers too prove it but. . .
My whole dash board went out why I was driving could not see my speed or how much gas I have nothing was coming up.
I see gm has recalled the engines on the chevy Malibu 2. 0 I have 104xxx miles and and the engine has been sluggish sense last oil change now there was metal shavings on injectors and I feel they have recalled others why not mine too? I had the cruise set at 72 going down the freeway and it just died.
Mientras el vehiculo esta en movimiento el motor se apaga. Esto comenzo a ocurrir hace un mes . . Es una situacion muy peligrosa.
Loss of power of car it kill my factory battery had buy a new one and power steering is not working.
The air bag light and the engine light came on right after I left the dealership. At that moment I really didn't know a lot about cars and the sales person told me they fixed my issue and that I should be fine with the vehicle. I can get my engine light taken care of since it was my fault, but I see so many recalls out on the same type of vehicle for the airbag and there is none for mine. I really need assistance with the airbag and I believe it is a recall.
Driving on the highway and battery charging system and stability track error msg showed up. Car completely shut off and had to be towed.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle's battery in the engine compartment drains all of the power and shuts off the engine. This causes the power steering and power brakes to shut off. The contact had to put two feet on the brake pedal and manage the steering wheel without power steering to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was had not been taken to a dealer , independent mechanic or manufacturer contacted yet. The failure mileage was 84,000. Tf.
The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu turns off or completely DE-energizes during operation. On three occasions over the last 2 weeks, the vehicle has turned off or completely DE-energized while traveling speeds of between 10 and 35 mph. On one occasion, the vehicle turned off or completely DE-energized while in stop and go traffic. On two separate occasions, the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu has turned off or completely DE-energized in the middle of a turn. This occurred once in the face of oncoming traffic during a left turn at an intersection and once during a right turn.
Using turn signal or power windows the vehicle dies and quickly restarts. All power is lost momentarily. Happens when battery voltage is below 13. 5 volts. Loss of power steering almost caused an accident twice. It was not wet out or raining, had been dry for several days so weather does not seem to be triggering the issue. Service stabil trak warning also flashed in and cleared upon power disruption.
Was driving along about 35 mph when car suddenly shuts off and power steering is gone causing me to almost go off the road. Very dangerous please make the recall public.

The a/c blows out hot air. Since I've been consistently blowing it or trying to because it is summer, my car starting jerking. It might work every now and again. Sometimes, once I'm slowing down and the air is supposedly blowing, my car cuts off on me while I'm in drive. This has happened while parking the car as well as coming to a stop at a red light or stop sign. I needed to defrost my windows, it cut off on me a red light.
The car was in motion on a city street, my daughter was slowing down coming up to a red light. Before she stopped the air conditioner stopped blowing then the car turned off. She put it in park and was able to turn it back on. This is the second time it has turned off on its own, the first time it was when she put it in reverse to back out of a parking space.
When driving my Malibu it seems to have a short circuit when I turn the wheel even the slightest. I have changed the batteries checked all the wires and everything seems fine. I have figured out even when I'm driving 70mph on the highway with my family in the car the power steering will go out and make it hard for me to even turn. I have read online that this is happening to Malibu's everywhere and that gm is not willing to make it a national recall because it must be happening while they see the car. So I guess I have to wait for me to crash? to see that the power steering gave out on me along with the rest of the electrical work on the inside of the car.
While pulling into a parking space in our 2013 chevy Malibu with my foot on the brake, when about 1/2 way into the space I experienced an unintended acceleration by the vehicle. This caused me to crash into a bollard in front of the convenience store causing severe damage to the front end of the car. The air bags did not deploy, causing me to hit my head on the steering wheel.
If the key is removed without the transmission in park, the vehicle may rollaway as occupants are exiting , increasing the risk of injury.
Expressway. The radio blacked out, stopped playing and then the car started shutting down-everything!steering went out, radio, lights, blinkers, etc. I took it as slow as I could all the way home and got onto back roads. This proved to be even more hazardous-every time I turned the steering wheel it would start to shut down again & again, all the way home. I took the car to the dealer-fixed but now happening again. Sometimes it happens quickly and recovers quickly enough that the engine is not involved. My warning sign is that the radio cuts out and the screen goes blank. That's when I know to prepare myself. Sometimes that is all that happens. Other times it's major! I look for an escape route-can I get off the road quickly, are there other cars around me, brace both hands on the steering wheel, slow my speed and pray. 2/10/19, I was driving 55+ mph on a 2 lane road. It was a fast radio out, fast engine wind down and out of power and door locks went on and off. There was a driveway for me to pull in to and assess the situation. Engine then engaged and things seemed back to normal. I continued home, had 2 issues but I was going slower as I was aware this may happen again. I pulled over and continued each time. I had to stop at the store and was pulling into a parking spot and the car was trying to shut down and steering went out more than once until I finally got in the parking spot. Drove home, parked. I went into the house an read the manual. I decided to go out and check my fuses. Key fob did not work. Doors were unlocked, got in car, put key in the ignition and car was totally dead. Key would not come out of the ignition. My husband called tow truck in the am to jump. Car would not jump so he had it towed to dealer where it is at this moment. I am afraid I'm going to be killed or cause someone else harm if they end up crashing into me because of the quick shut down and loss of steering!!!.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 60 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle failed to restart and the key failed to release from the ignition. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
I have tried everything no one can find out why my ac does not work.
Car reporting error code "p0304 - cylinder 4 misfire". Car has 88000 miles on it, dealer says there's internal engine damage. This was verified by second auto repair shop. Was also notified that gm is aware of a problem with this 2. 0l turbo engine on several of their automobile models (pi1178b, pi1178d, pi1178e). Car has been properly maintained with all scheduled service being performed.
I was driving on the highway going 70mph and the car lost power and the service stabili track and reduce power messages came on and slowed down to 30mph. Thank god I got to pull over safely. My son and I had to be towed home.
I would be driving the car and all the lights on the dashboard would come on and then go off. The steering would pull to the left. A couple of times all the lights on the dashboard would come on and the car would cut off while I'm driving on the road.
