The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal lost connection while driving 65 mph. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power while driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the accelerator pedal sensor was not connecting with the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.

2 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 01/23/2022

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to 35 mph. The contact was able to pull over safely. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the “reduced power” message was displayed. The contact called the local dealer but, vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 112,693.

3 Accelerator Pedal problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving approximately 50 mph, the speed suddenly reduced to 25 mph. The message �engine power is reduced� was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was towed to page Chevrolet (6500 little river turnpike, alexandria, va) where it was diagnosed that the internal parts of the accelerator pedal assembly were deformed and caused the failure. The accelerator pedal was replaced and the failure was remedied; however, the failure recurred approximately eight months later. The vehicle was towed to ourisman Chevrolet (18201 old richmond hwy, alexandria, va) where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal was faulty and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,000.
