The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the accelerator pedal sensor failed as several warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel, including the check engine light. As the vehicle entered low power mode, the vehicle independently slowed itself down as the contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and took the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer informed him that his accelerator pedal sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the parts to repair the vehicle were unavailable; he then had an independent mechanic replace both the accelerator pedal and the sensor. The contact also stated that while merging onto a highway at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled as the several warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle entered low power mode as the contact pulled off to the side of the highway. The contact was able to exit the highway and drove the vehicle slowly back to his home. The next day, the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where he was informed that his high pressure fuel pump had failed and that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v358000( fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer had yet to be notified of failure. The vehicle had been repaired but remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and while idling, the vehicle stalled and shutoff without warning. The contact stated that they would have to wait for approximately 15 minutes or more before the vehicle would restart. The contact took the vehicle to five star Chevrolet (2199 david h mcleod blvd, florence, SC 29501, (843) 605-0183) however, the mechanic was unable to identify the cause for the failure. The contact stated that onstar diagnostic tool showed a failure with the engine, transmission, and fuel system. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
