The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving 80 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but felt rigid, causing the contact to almost stand up and forcefully depress the pedal. The contact stated that the brake pedal responded. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle at a slower speed. While pulling into a parking lot, the brake pedal failed to push down, making me to have to exert force on the brake pedal to stop the car. I had been hearing a "grinding" sound but thought it was from the brake pads needing to be replaced and this was incident was from the calipers being over extended. After replacing the brake pads with the new ones (the old ones were only half the size of the new ones and did not need replacing) the brake pedal still did not push easily. I took the vehicle to the repair shop I always use and they affirmed there was a problem and gave the price for the parts (908. 37 for the brake vacuum pump and 107. 98 for the brake fluid exchange with abs). There is visible damage to the end of the camshaft from the pump freezing and being torn apart by the camshaft as a result. The total cost of the repairs was $3409. 96, which was unexpected. I was quoted $1134 and change originally for parts and labor at the beginning of the problem being addressed.

While pulling out of my driveway in my 2017 chevy Malibu, my brake pedal pulsed a few times and the pedal would not fully compress. Granted, I was barely moving but the issue made be very nervous. By the time I reached my stop sign, approximately 100ft, the brakes worked normally. This same issue has happened at least a dozen times and, thank fully, never while I was driving at posted speed limits. My onstar has sent me email notifications acknowledging an abs issue was detected. After the 3rd time this incident occurred, I did some research and found quite a few owners experiencing this exact issue and some whose brakes failed while driving at speed causing accidents! I have complained to gm, but they are sticking to not knowing anything about this problem and not covering any portion of the repairs. I got the standard canned response that gm will notify owners if and/or when a recall is issued. I am hopeful additional owners will complain so gm has to do something about this.

Driving and my car wouldn't stop because my stablitrak and abs system malfunction and now the dealer is saying I need a vacuum pump and throttle change. This is a know issues in the gm cars just seen on google that a global letter was sent out Aug of 2019 about this issues but I never received it. These cars should be recalled and we should be given our money back. I have 2017 chevy Malibu and I feel this premeditated murder because they know it's a issue and I could have lost my life July 30 2020 at 959pm.
First incident, vehicle in motion moving about 45 mph approached red light vehicle started making loud tick noise when to start to slow down and break pedal was solid not able to slow the vehicle down. Panicked, 3 children in my car in fear for their safety. Was able to put both feet and press as hard as I could to attempt to stop the car. Car thankfully came to a stop and was able to pull over exit the car and have towed to dealership. Dealership inspected vehicle and decided that the vacuum pump had locked up and the case and gear had broken apart. Replaced part and everything was working. Second incident, noticed fluid on driveway, took car to dealership and they stated the vacuum pump was leaking, changed gasket. Third incident, driving car down the highway, vehicle lost speed (jumped) and check engine light came on. Exited highway and car shut off and breaks were again solid had to again use two feet to press as hard as I could in order to not blow through an intersection. Was able to get off road call tow truck and tow to closest shop. They inspected vehicle and found the vacuum pump locked up again and broken pieces where sent into the engine and destroyed the cam shaft.
Emgine reduced speed has been comin on for a while on most chevy models. The car immediately slows on the freeway during traffic and anywhere. The seatbelts do not always attach.
My brake boosters went out and I paid $700 now something odd is happening to my brakes with the air or pressure. Should this whole car be recalled? my electrics blinked out the day I got the car and the salesman said it happens sometimes now I have to replace a battery for$290 on a car I have less than 2 years?? it was mentioned the auto start affects my battery!! I need to speak to someone about reimbursement and covering my battery. Let's take auto start off totally it's a nuisance not a solution and the tow truck driver said he has taken in 4 GMC/Chevrolet this week and 2 were Malibus. My car is at the dealers right now!.
Was driving down road my 2017 malabu started slowing down on it's on I tried to stop at a stop sign and the breaks did not work car died and will not restart. Code indicates break booster car is in yard.
On Saturday, June 29th, 2019 approximately at 12:30 pm my family's 2017 Chevrolet Malibu was in motion in a major interstate (I-75) and the traffic started slowing down, I pressed the brake pedal to slow down and the pedal became very hard to brake and having to swerve to the side of the right side of the road to avoid a collision with the vehicle in front of me. The vehicle's message board read "engine power reduced". I also received an email message from on-star stating that an issue with the engine and transmission system was detected. The vehicle was taken to victory lane Chevrolet in fort myers, florida, and the service technician told us that the issue had nothing to do with the engine or transmission as the vehicle message stated, but a problem with the braking system's vacuum. This could have been a really bad accident and hope that this information can help avoid any problems to anybody. We are still worry about driving this vehicle, since we are becoming aware that this is an issue that seems to be repeating itself to many other owners of the same vehicle and model as our Malibu in the united states and canada.
My chevy Malibu has stopped several times on the highway more often durning traffic time it always stops when it enters auto stop then it cuts all the way off and I have to restart it I called in about this last year .
