Subject: NHTSA item number 10032206 brake lights comments: my 2005 Malibu maxx has intermittent problems with brake lights. They go on without putting on the brakes and go off when I put on the brakes. In addition, the cruise control works intermittently. I found a TSB dated 2009-06-01 that describes it perfectly. Chevy can't find the same TSB in their system and won't help me. The dealer replaced the brake lamp, but that is clearly not the problem (based on the TSB). The dealer can't see the problem because it's intermittent. I want this fixed (the car is dangerous to drive) but don't want to have to pay again, when I first paid for something that was clearly the wrong solution, and for which the dealer could have found the same TSB that I found (even if it's not in the gm system). The solution appears to be "high resistance to terminal fretting corrosion in the body control module (bcm) c2 connector (specifically pins c2-18, c2-31, and c2-59). The correction is to unlatch the c2 connector and disconnect from the bcm. Then repeat this and then apply dielectric lubricant on the bcm c2 pins. It is not a brake switch problem. Please contact me and let me know what options I have, and if NHTSA can deal with gm about this. Thank you.

Very delayed response to braking. I was about four cars away when I applied the brake. I was going about 40mph when I slammed on the brake. Vehicle kept rolling until eventually it hit another vehicle. It felt like I was just driving with the foot on the gas very slowly. Its in the shop now being repaired. Brakes are said to be "normal". Lol .

I had to replace the brakes on this car at 6,000 miles. Since then, I have had to replace them on a yearly occurrence, as well as rotors and wheel bearings. The breaks always sound like they are grinding and vibrating. I have had issues with the abs light coming on. It has been 7 months since I had the rotors replaced, and I need new breaks again.

When the brakes were applied there was a grinding noise and metal scraping against metal sound. Took vehicle to mechanic, and mechanic indicated that they were using genuine parts from dealer, and the parts only lasted 12000 miles, and in some cases 6000 miles.
Braking system fails. Have the car repaired 3 times for same problem. Just bought the car one week ago. Spoke to other Malibu owners and they have had the same problems.

The breaks on my 2003 Malibu sedan seem to not be as responsive as other vehicles I have owned. You have to press the breaks harder than normal to bring the car to a stop. This is a major issue with the Malibu's and as I do more research, I have found numerous people that have had to replace breaks many times with similar results.
No summary( dot number: tire size: 214/60r15 ).
