The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated the information panel would show a power steering warning message. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was scanned that there was no code associated with the power steering. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to costs. The contact stated the issues are associated with NHTSA campaign number: 14v153000 (steering). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.
