Five problems related to fuel injection have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
This car also has brake and injector problems. I had to replace the rear struts in June too. This car has low mileage and I think it is highly unusal to have these problems.
Fuel injector failure.
Once vehicle warms up it stalls. There is a technical service bulletin out on these vehicles. Dealer replaced the fuel injectors and three gaskets and the spark plugs, and vehicle still stalls. Owner states the the vehicle shakes and idles roughly, and she has smelled gas on severaloccasions. Owner is still having problems with the vehicle.
Vehicle is hard to start due to fuel system problems.
The fuel injection system is programmed to let up progressively instead of instantaneously when letting up on the accelerator, this causes one to put added pressure on brakes to stop the vehicle and causes consumer to under estimate stopping distance.
