The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ss. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the engine stalled and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact was able to merge to side of road and restarted the vehicle. The problem occurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the ignition switch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle crashed into another and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained back, neck and pain to both arms no medical attention was required. A police report was not failed. The contact believed that the failure was directly related to recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
Engine stalled while going 65mph on freeway and would not restart, accelerator pedal was no longer responding to vehicles speed. There was no warning indicating on the dashboard. Diagnostic information reading was negative. Dealer was notified.
While driving about 65 mph engine will stall without any prior warning, just like somebody turned off engine. Had taken vehicle to dealer, and they could not find what was causing stalling.
While operating vehicle under normal conditions engine will stall while in traffic. Dealership has examined vehicle three times and failed to correct defect. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
