I recently purchased a used 2002 chevy Monte Carlo. However I have been having intermittent problems with the vehicle not starting. It has had the recalled ignition switch replaced but every once in a while the vehicle still doesn't start. I have done some investigating on the web and discovered it is a very common problem of many general motors makes between the 1999-2004 modal years. The vehicles vats system (vehicle anti theft system)will not allow the vehicle to start. When the vehicle doesn't start I have to wait 10minutes and low and behold it will start. This is a very common problem that is not only aggravating but could be potentially dangerous if the vehicle needs to be moved in an emergency situation.
