Clunking noise from the steering column. Service writer took the info & an hour later informed me that problem was fixed and I owed $108. 00!!!! no communication, no estimate, no nothing but this charge, even though I have an extended warranty and gm knows about this problem. Said they lubed a neoprene seal on the intermediate shaft of the steering column.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Intermittently while turning the steering column when driving she hears a clinging noise. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two separate occasions for the identical failures, and the steering shaft was replaced. The repairs did not remedy the failure. The vehicle identification number was excluded from recall campaign id numbers 08e063000 and 09e005000 (steering). The failure mileage was 47,000. The current mileage was 67,000.
