Ignition Switch problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

1 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 08/29/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that the key was difficult to remove from the ignition on several occasions and the key became lodged in the ignition switch more than once. The contact received a notification for recall NHTSA campaign number: 14v355000 (electrical). However, the parts needed were not available. The dealer was unable to provide a specific date when the parts would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repairs. The failure mileage was 80,000. Pam.

2 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2013

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the key was stuck in the ignition switch and once the key was removed the igniton did not cut off. In addition, the front of the vehicle was leaking oil. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced and the oil leakage was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v355000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000. Ak.
