A few months later while driving approximately 55 mph, the front driver side tires experienced tread separation. The rear driver side tire also experienced the same failure. I purchased two classic p225/60r16 tires design # 8938n about 2 or 3 years ago. They still are like new. They both are starting to have cracks in the rubber around the rim. Looks like they are dry rotting. They were placed on the rear of the vehicle.

We purchased a 2004 chevy Monte Carlo ss @ jim johnson Nissan here in bowling green,ky in December of 2006. Since then we have been feeling a "thumping" while driving-no matter what speed. We had taken the car to jim johnson a couple of times, which tires were taken off-balanced and re-balanced and still the same issue. Jim johnson had placed 2 new tires on the front but we are still having the same problem. The tires we have on there are goodyear eagles. We called goodyear consumer ctr. They in turn had us go to a goodyear tire dealer for a tire inspection, upon which they found a "thumping" in the tires. Goodyear consumer center had offered us $58. For each tire replacement towards the warranty. We feel for our safety and others around our car,we shouldn't have to spend any money for replacement of the two tires that are faulty and defective, we feel that they should replace them at no charge to us for safety reasons and the idea that they are faulty and defective no matter what the warranty claims are. We feel they are not standing behind their product.

Car shakes while driving since new. Now 1000 miles. Been to a chevy dealer(team chev in smyrna, TN) they have tried 3 sets of tires, all defective. They believe the rims also to be defective. Car still shakes, and feels loose over bumps. Dealer says hands are tied due to very poor chain of command to properly resolve this matter quickly, so my new car drives new. Computer will not allow me to choose tire size which is actually 225/60-16.

2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo has problems with one faulty good year tire.
The belts on the two front tires started coming apart to where I lost control on the highway. I had to buy two tires to rplace them in nashville tenn. These tires were noisy from the day I bought them . They were mounted on the rear wheels. I noticed the problem on a trip to canada and had them checked in detroit, mi. I also had the tires rotatd and the mechanic said they were badly cupped and I should check the rear struts. With the tires on the front wheels, they became worse by the time I got to nashville and I had very poor front end control. I had the tires repalced then. When I returned to TX, I had the rear struts replaced and the mechanic said they were not bad enough to change though they did show some slight wear. ( dot number: y7yt tire size: p205/70r15 ).
