Four problems related to front seat power adjust have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The drivers side power seat motor has play in it and allows the seat to move 1-2 inches back and forth as the truck brakes or accelerates. The passenger side seat is also jammed and no longer moves at all.

The dealer stated that he would be responsible for repairing the vehicle at the cost of $600. The vehicle has not been repaired. The VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 125,000.
I have 99 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS 2wd with 6-way power seats. Both the passenger and driver seats move front and back during braking or acceleration. The movement is as much as 1 inch. The movement has increasingly become more since I first noticed the problem in 2006. I am very concerned that this problem poses a safety risk in a panic stop or collision situation. The seat(s) may break loose and slide full forward and/or backward resulting in loss of control or braking resulting in injury or death, and property damage. Airbag safeguard would be rendered useless because the seat moves in a unpredictable way that was never analyzed by manufacturer's testing.
