My husband just had a wreck last night. His gas pedals got stuck causing him to lose control of the truck and the truck to spend around in the middle of the street. It hit another car and a telephone pole before jumping the curb and landing in a field. The air bags did not deploy on any parts of the truck that was impacted by the wreck. Both sides of the truck are completely smashed in and both windshields have been busted out. My husband actually came of the windshield of the truck where the airbag should have deployed.
Took vehicle in for service and inspection and was told frame was rusted and no longer safe to drive. Frame failure is unacceptable and an extreme safety hazard. Brakes lines had also rusted off previous and replaced. Vehicle only has 130,000 miles.
When driving and coming to any stop abs on and you lose all brakes and you just roll. Pump the brakes nothing haves hit emergency brake shut truck of and restarted problem continues. So truck is park until problem resolved.
Had to disconnect the anti lock brake so I could stop. When driving slow and pressing on the brake pedal, the pedal is solid and does not move. Very dangerous. Cannot stop the vehicle at all. Brake lines rotted out. Has to replace. Transmission lines rotted out. Had to replace. Transmission oil cooler rotted out. Had to replace. Fuel lines are rotting out. Not replaced yet. Drive shaft is questionable. Severely rusted. Rear backing plates rotted off, no more parking - emergency brake. Check engine light will not go out. Replaced catalytic converter many times with no results. Engine leaks oil. Loosing coolant, possible burning it. Fuel mileage is terrible. Body rusted out. Rocker panels are gone. Cab corners are gone. Rear bumper is gone. Putting the spare tire underneath is a stupid idea. The cost to replace these parts is too expensive. For what these vehicles cost new all of these parts should be made out of stainless steel or use plastic for the fuel lines and brake lines. The check engine light being related to a pollution control device should be entire covered by the manufacturer. These parts and whatever is upstream that caused the pollution control part to fail should be covered by the manufacturer in perpetuity. Anti lock brakes should be removed from all cars. The parts are too expensive to replace. The cost should not be on the shoulders of the car owner.
Frame braking into over the back tires major rusting heath hazzard to my self plus other's same issue as Toyota recalled frame issue's.
I was headed to the store when my truck just shut off in the middle of the street I took to my mechanic and he said that the fuel pump and sending unit needed to be replaced as well as the fuel lines due to there being excessive corrosion. Also abs system activates when coming to a stop at low speeds. And I have also had to replace the brake lines due to excessive rust. At 118000 miles I had to have my heater core replaced due no heat and once again at 121000 miles I have lost heat again.
There were 2 incidents of the same problem on different portion of brake lines on my Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2000 extended cab. In both incidents the problem appeared while backing out from my drive way. Both times there were completely no brakes due to rusted out brake lines. I was very lucky that the problem did not show while I was on the road. There were no accidents involved. The first time it happened on Dec. 29 (or 28), 2011. I was taking my son for his dentist appointment and there were no brakes. I did not realize the problem at the beginning until I was out of my drive way and on the neighborhood road and trying to stop at the first stop sign. It was really really scary but I managed to stop my vehicle. It cost $364 to fix the problem. It was partial replacement of the brake line. The second time it happened on March 18, 2014, while I was going to another appointment. I did not go any further than out of my drive way. This time it cost $1235 to replace the entire brake line.
