Went to get vehicle inspected was informed that the frame is rusted out and is uninspectable and that I need to junk the truck the body is great has 150000 miles but the cross braces are rusted out and its cracked over the rear axel with all the problems oyhers are having and with Toyota having recall on frame rusting out gm should be doing the same they say that the NHTSA is the one to tell them to do a recall and untill they are told to there is nothing thay can do.
Extreme rust on under carrage of vehicle. Brake lines rusted out causing brake failure frame rusted out at rear leaf springs and frame rail cross members. Rear shock hangers rusted off vehicle. Frame rusted so bad that it prohibits toung of any type of trailer. Toyota had same problem and they had to do a recall so why has gm not had to do the same thing. It is a very large safety issue affecting many vehicles on the hwy today.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet silverado k1500. The contact stated that the frame was rusted. Neither the dealer or manufacturer had not been notified. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who informed the contact to replace the entire frame. No repairs were performed. The current and failure mileages were 117,000.
Extensive frame rust from middle of shackles in rear to the back bumber. Cross member failing and several brake lines rusting and need replaced. Vehicle has 64000 miles on it. Good maintenance kept. Corner panels rusting along with both rear brake assemblies and brake dust covers have rusted off. Spare tire cable and mechanical mechanism to lower and raise the tire are rusted. Shackle mounts on both the left and right rear are almost completely rusted through the frame and are in danger of coming off. Had to weld a brace on both left and right rear frame to prevent failure in that area so that vehicle is somewhat safe to drive. Damaged statred to occur around 2005 and has progressively gotten worse throughout the year. Vehicle does sit for long durations in my yard.
