Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problems of the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The fuel gauge indicated that the vehicle was low on fuel when it was actually full. The failure occurs while driving 50 mph and also when the vehicle is stopped. The dealer stated that the failure was common among other vehicles of the same make and model. The failure and current mileages were 97,800.

Fuel gauge failure when vehicle is in "park". Low fuel signal goes on. Then when the vehicle is in drive, the gauge goes to full. Then eventually the gauge goes to the level of the fuel.

I own a 2000 chevy silverado (4. 3) with 92k miles. My problem is with the faulty fuel sending unit that left me stranded on the expressway and almost caused an accident. The gas gauge indicated 1/2 tank full. Now the gauge indicates empty when I fill the tank completely. This is a very expensive repair that I think chevy should replace I am not the only one with this unstable problem. The fuel gauge is erratic at all times and now I gauge my travels by using the odometer and allowing only 300 miles per full tank.

I own a 2000 chevy silverado z71. When I start my truck my gas gauge will stay on empty even with a full tank of gas. It will also show a half a tank of gas when I am actually empty. This caused me to run out of gas on a busy interstate nearly causing an accident with my two children in the truck with me. Once on i10 in the middle of the night about 30 to 20 miles from a town. It is obviously a know problem. Is gm waiting for someone to get killed on a highway before they decide to fix it?.
