Fuel tank rear mounting strap corroded thru strap on outer side of truck. Break occurred about 1" down of the top of the rubber chaff protective coating. Rubber coating provided a pocket to trap moisture and increase rate of failure. Forward strap has similar damage but has yet to fail. Failure of second strap could have lead to fuel tank falling onto the road during driving conditions. Please contact me to view components. Date of removal will be Feb 20th 2007.
Rear gas tank strap has carroded thru, this was noticed when iwas having new tires put on. The truck has 84000 miles on it. I have not yet fixed the problem cause it was found yesterday. I usually keep a vehical about 10 yrs. , and never ran into this problem . The straps should last longer than 6-7 yrs.
