The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The contact owns a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle lost power. The contact had to roll the vehicle a mile down the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the distributor was full of water, which burned the coil and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred numerous times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,000.
