Collided with a bear at 55mph with significant front end damage. Air bags were commanded to deploy and never did. I have contacted gm about the problem and have been told to wait for a claim advisor as no recalls are active on my vehicle.
Working door frame-away from all cables and wires-truck was parked in driveway-off-drivers air bag went off-on accident-truck was parked--no luck with gm--an luck with dealer--gm said-truck out of warranty and to old--cost me over $2000. 00 to replace--I am 70 yrs old and retired--still like the truck--these $$$ hurt me!.
My husband had a horrific one vehicle accident. He was traveling at a high rate of speed, driving on an unfamiliar county highway when he approached a curve in the road, his vehicle left the road, rolled, became air born, hit a utility pole while air born hard enough to snap it in half and move the part of the pole that's in the ground about two feet, the vehicle rolled and landed up side down. Not one single air bag deployed. My husband wasn't wearing his seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. I'm not excusing his actions, but the other safety feature didn't perform as well. I've contacted general motors and they in return turned it over to esis they're address is esis/gm central claims unit. P. O box 300 mailcode 482-c19-b61 detroit, mi. 48265-3000. Phone number 800-888-0164 fax 248-778-1794. I sent esis multiple pictures of the totaled vehicle showing that not one air bag deployed. I've received a letter back from esis relating that they have completed their review of my claim, based on all documentation reviewed. Also telling me that if I have any further evidence to support my claim to please submit it to them. Are pictures of a totaled out vehicle that suffered severe damage but yet no signs of air bag deployment not proof enough? I've asked esis how many more vehicles like ours may be out there. No response. My husband suffered severe brain trauma, a broken neck, sternum, four broken ribs, broken right leg in multiple places and a broken left arm that was also broken in multiple places. He had his accident on March 12th 2018 and died as a result of it on August 7th 2018. Esis hasn't offered to provide me with a copy of their findings neither. I'm fully aware that he would have suffered injuries regardless of seat belt on or off. What I want to know is why didn't the air bags deploy. Thank your myrtle mason.
Cracked dash, just cracked, found by hearing a noise then noticed the crack, concern is air bag may make if deployed flying debres.
Service air bag, light came on, can not find anything wrong with wiring, disconnected fuse under hood, light still stays on, am afraid to use vehicle. Had mechanic check passenger seat, and he also couldn't find any thing wrong, sometimes when starting the vehicle the light goes out, but then comes back on again. I can not find solution.
"takata recall" I drove my truck to the shopping center about 2 miles from my home. Parked and went inside to make a purchase. When I returned to the my truck which was still parked, I turned the ignition key and both airbags exploded.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the steering wheel air bag deployed independently onto the contact¿s chest. The contact was concerned that the steering wheel air bag deployed without the vehicle being involved in a crash. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. Additionally, the manufacturer sent an engineer to inspect the vehicle but also was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000. Djr.
I was in an accident in my 2004 Silverado 1500. I lost control and hit a tree on the front driver side. The insurance company declared the truck a total loss. I kept the truck and repaired all damage. The service sir bag light was on. It was not on before the wreck. It was about the third time cranking the truck before the light came on in the dash. I thought everything was functioning correctly. We had an automotive mechanic check it out with an auto scanner. It showed the box that tells the air bags to deploy had to be replaced because it sent signal for air bags to deploy but they did not.
Cracked dashboard, exterior color faded,.
I have a 2004 chevy Silverado 1500 ss, the driver's power seats, driver and passenger heated seats, and mirror dimmer's lose all power. They were working 30% of the time. I took it into the the dealership, they said the wire harness melted and would cost $500. 00 to fix, they can't determine why it melted. They left the harness unplugged because it left in, it would cause further damage to the airbags. My drives side aribag will not inflate if needed until replaired. I called gm - Chevrolet to make a complaint saying this is a safet issue and nothing due to human error. They said it is out of warranty and is not a safety issue or a defect, they are also not sure of why it melted, it could be many reasons: something touched it, wear and tear, a gm part gone bad. They claim this is not a gm issue. They said because of all this and the age of the car, they will not compensate for any of it, but then said regardless of the age of the car, the wire is not supposed to melt.
On April 30 of 2008, I placed the key in the ignition and attempted to start my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Both airbags suddenly deployed hitting me in the face. There were no indications of an air bag fault prior to detonation. I called the dealer and they informed me that there were no warranties on the air bags, outside of the normal 36000 mile of 3 year warranty period. I contacted gm customer service and have had no resolution on the reason for the event or the cost to get this repaired. I am entering this information because, had the air bags deployed while driving it could have caused a serious accident. I have searched the internet and have found numerous incidences of air bag deployment on gm products including the sierra, silverado and tahoe series of vehicle. How can the airbag activate without the accelerometer generating a signal ? it appears that gm may have a design flaw with the electrical harness on these model vehicles. Is there any agency or legal entity of the u. S. Government that could force gm to disclose the cause of these events and help with the cost of repairs?.
