The service airbag light came on and stays on the milage was about 65000 miles its looks to me like this is a common problem with this truck it is a 2005 chevy Silverado 1500 LS, you would think Chevrolet would fix this problem.

My truck is well maintained , at approx 40,300 miles, my service air bag light came on for no apparent reason. I drove for a short time knowing that my air bags were disabled. A friend and I located an impact sensor that was bad. I believe that it was a safety problem and should have been corrected by gm.

Upon further diagnostic it has been determined that the driver side front airbag impact sensor is faulty disabling the airbag safety system. Air bag light just came on an had it see a dealer told me I had both sensors in the frount of the truck bad and wanted to charge me around $850. 00 to replace them I didnt have that kind on money to spend they told me it wouldnt effect the running of my truck but if I get in a wreck my air bags proably will not work is this not a saftey problem gm should take care of they thousands of trucks like mine with the air bag light on an not air bag want work if they wreck I can only hope that they are a eecall on this before anymore people get hurt or kill that could be pervented if gm would do whats right and fix the problem.

One day after sitting in a parking lot the "check air bag" message came on with air bag light. The past winter had been particularly wet and cold for ohio. After research online, I found that the front driver side air bag sensor was deformed and causing the problem. Apparently the design can allow water into the sensor, but not drain out. Hence, the water froze inside the sensor, expanded and damaged the sensor, rendering the air bag system inoperable. Part number 15103522. Further research revealed that the part has been replaced by another part number - 10370149. Unsure if this new part corrects the lack of drainage or not but according to the online research, it just might. Contacted chevy authorized service and they are not willing to replace the part at their cost since there has not been an official recall. I was put on hold for 5 minutes waiting to learn of the part price, at which point I hung up. There are numerous online reports of this problem and being that it is a life safety issue, one might think that chevy would be interested in not incurring more lawsuits than they already have against them.

Service airbag light comes on when vehicle is started and comes and goes throughout the drive. After discussing with friends found out there are approx. 5-10 other vehicles of the same model and around the same mileage in my area with the problem. If you search the web, there are a lot of trucks with the same problem. Not an isolated incident!!! the problem is expensive to fix and sounds like a money maker for the dealerships!!.

The service airbag light came on,and I had it checked,was told the front sensor was bad. Called the chevy dealer and was told they only have to be replaced if in a crash. I've had wiring problems and a recall on the blower wiring. I think Chevrolet should have to check into the problem,because on the internet there are a number of owners with the same airbag problem. Sounds like a safety issue to me. Chevrolet said for a price they will check it. They make it sound like it's the owner's fault, and the more money they can get the better. Sounds like their motto is (money before safety) something needs to be done to help the consumers.

My 2005 crew cab 4x4 chevy silverado air bag light has come on at 75000 miles. From my short one hour online research there are numerous gm suvs and trucks from 2003 - 2011 with this same issue. Most gm certified repair faculties are not able to correct this ***major safety issue*** without significant cost to their auto owners (average cost $400-$3000). Common malfunctioning part - impact sensor 15103522 (average cost of part $100; average analysis cost $200; average labor cost $87 a hour). I did call gm customer service department with no resolve. Case number 71-999598205. I should not have to pay additional cost for a common manufacture safety issue that will result in a cause of death or serious injury. Please use our tax dollars wisely in having gm repair this issue at no cost to the owners. (who we, including you, are the taxpayers that bailed out gm. . . Why??? thought that is what chapter 13 bankruptery is for?) sincerely.

Shift indicator , does not light up, various panel lights flash off/on when driving at night, transmission with only 97,000 miles. Google searched alot of same type vehicles have this problem. Do not know what gear its in. . . . . Transmission went out going down highway had to pull off. . . . . Also service airbag light came on. . . . . . Too many things going wrong for a newer vehicle, truck is taken care of very well. . .

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where he was informed that the air bag connection failed and it was repaired. The failure has since recurred twice. After the second occurrence the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer where it was repaired. It was not repaired after the third occurrence. The failure mileage was 12,000 and the current mileage was 65,000.
