The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While traveling at 75 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact applied the brakes but the vehicle did not slow down. The contact had to shut the vehicle off and coast to a stop. The vehicle was being inspected at the dealership at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 60,000.

2 Car Accelerates On Its Own problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle shifted gears as he drove up a hill and then began to suddenly accelerate. He stated that it took off "like a jet". He kicked the accelerator pedal a few times and the engine began to settle to normal speeds. The failure has not recurred. The dealers returned the vehicle to the contact without a diagnosis or an invoice. He called the manufacturer and was awaiting a response at the time of the complaint.
