I recently had my truck serviced and the dealership found that one of my tires, a general ameritrac p245/70/r17 had belt separation. I insisted that this is a defect. They have yet to remedy the problem. I a concerned that the other tires, including my spare may incur this issue and lead to an accident.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 55 mph, the front driver's side tire detached from the vehicle. The vehicle slid to a stop. The contact sustained injuries to the back and neck. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and is currently being repaired. The contact no longer wants the vehicle and the dealer is not installing any different parts. The contact is afraid to drive the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 14,000.
After about 7,000 miles the treads start to come off in small pieces on the front tires, (1/8" ). The rear tires chunks are coming off in 1/4 ' to 1/2' in the center 3 rows of the treads. This is my 3rd set of tires. All resulting in lose of treads.
