general problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The contact had to pump the brake couple of times, but the brake pedal kept on getting hard until it finally stopped. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed number: 9-5195285314. The vehicle was not repaired this last time. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000. Bp.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that part numbers: 20850923 and 20904439 needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 127,277.

While driving at speed door locks will actuate back and forth with all dash lights flashing. Eventually car loses all power, engine dies, and have to pulp to side of interstate without power brakes or propulsion. I was personally almost rear ended by a semi at approx 60 mph. Furthermore, it is know that all door panels in this vehicle retain moisture. This has killed all speakers and I guess it could be a potential cause of the afore mentioned problem.

I went to stop at a red light and the breaks wouldn't work. I had to pump them bout three times till it started to work. Has happen bout four times now and no break light or anything will come on.

I had the truck checked out, the first time gm had the rotars turned they said they were worped. This happened 2 more times and it happens when I travel to TN or va or west va. These last 2 times I had it fixed at my expense. I finally had new rotars replaced at my expense . I made a trip to FL . And had to go through TN , which is up and down mountains. ;and it is happening again with the brakes. T was 1 year old the first time this happened. It was taken to gm dealer the first 2 times. The truck only has 63000 miles on it. And the only thing in the truck is my wife and I and the dog and our clothes.

Was at a red light when vehicle came to no function. Stabilitrak / traction control light kept coming on and off for months. Truck lost driving ability and lights became coming on. Lost brakes, transmission light came on along with stabilitrak, and traction light. Vehicle lost acceleration and did not have ability of power. Sounded like spark plugs miss firing. Brakes became disabled and where grinding. (new brakes) had to push my truck off road as it had no pressure to drive. Mechanics think it is the throttle body sensor. Will see.

I have always complained to the dealership about my brakes not working properly and they always came up with some sort of explanation to justify the noise. This is my 4th chevy truck and the first one where all the brakes are being replaced at the same time before it has hit 40,000.

I have taken the truck to the dealership shop twice regarding the squealing brakes. The first time they said there was a recall on the front brakes and they replaced them at no cost. I had to pay for the rear brake replacement. I took the truck back two weeks later because of the same squealing. They said the only thing they could do was to spray on some kind of metal coating. They said I would have to come back because it would take several hours to dry. If they just replaced defective brakes, why would I have to accept them spraying something on them instead of fixing the problem. My husband has this same truck and his brakes squeal too.

The vehicle has been to the dealer three times for the brakes, but only one mechanic found heat cracks and heat spots. The current mileage was 29,090 and failure mileage was 15,000.

The brakes have given me a problem ever since I bought the truck and have been replaced once. After replacement the problem still occurs. The dealer says the problem is normal. A new vehicle should not have so many problems. I've been taking the truck to the dealer for all my concerns. Now they say its a maintenance issue. After I've taken it so many times, now they say that's what it is. I do not believe that is right. I have all paperwork of me taking the truck to the dealer for my concerns. I believe you will see that I have taken it so many times, that my case should be handled. I have called the bank that has the loan of the truck, and have called chevy and gm customer service. No follow up is attempted from the customer services. Now I do not have faith in the vehicle. It is not safe for me to have a defective truck.
