Last year the air bag light went on my 2011 silverado with 80,000 miles. I had it in a gm body shop for unrelated repair and asked them to diagnose it. They connected their reader and could not find a the problem and directed me to the dealer. I investigated further last week and found both front disintegrated from corrosion. I contacted the dealership who could find no record of such a problem, they referred me to gm with the same result. This is an low mileage vehicle in very good condition and I find this type of early failure of 2 identical parts unreasonable.
Air bag light is on. This is prompting me to think that this is related to the takata recall. My 2011 silverado has less than 100,00 miles. The transmission started making noises, then it stopped. Prior to that nothing was indicated as going wrong. One month later, the transmission will not move into gears. I have spent thousands of dollars to purchase this vehicle brand new and I am so disappointed in the service that I am getting out of it. Also the interior is deteriorating. My radio dials and heat/air control buttons are faded. The steering wheel is peeling. I even bought extended warranty. My power window went out, fixed by warranty. This truck has too many defects and I am seeking some answers and assisting in correcting these problems.

"takata recall" airbag light takes over instrument information cluster. Theres no information on when to be repaired or when the airbag will be replaced. 2) dashboard cracked and growing near passenger airbag . I never used armor all etc. . . Concerned about the wiring underneath. Truck currently has 80000 miles . Normal use.
Airbag light is on though not in a accident seems like all gm vehicles that I have owned they tend to go off right around the hundred thousand mile mark.
Took it to walker jones in waycross GA cause the light to the airbags was staying on. They hooked it to computer and said it was thermostate was the problem. Replaced it and the air bag light is still coming on. Only thing they want to do it fix everything else but the airbag.

Passenger airbag light off and on at random times. Seat not used often at all. Passenger presence system shorted. Cost 775. 00 + 125. 00 paid for diagnostic test. Failed inspection. Shows recall online but in gm data base not on our VIN. Passenger seat and it is hardly to never even used.
My air bag light has continued to flash on and off "service air bag" since August 2015 @ 34,147 miles. Vehicle was purchased and serviced previously by kuni Chevrolet sacramento CA. They state there is no record of my vehicle, but they continue to send me mailer request service other than the outstanding recall# 2049151: also filed a complaint with general motors case #83119740858 where as tiffany has stated general motors has no known issues with air bags. I have contacted kuni Chevrolet several times requested a phone call from both service manger and general manage which continues to be ignored. I understand that this should have been resolved in a reasonable link of time. It has been going on for years and they are not taking responsibility . My question to you is what are my options? thank you richard johnson 12/04/2017.
Takata recall g. M. #2049151 NHTSA #16v381 air bag light coming on and off at will. Passenger side of dash lifting reported to kuni Chevrolet in March 2015 in March of 2015, was told they would have to schedule appointment and would be in touch they never called. Then in August 2015 I came in they provided a tag for the mirror with the miles written on it. Then I was told that it wouild not be covered under warranty and was asked to leave. Since then I have returned to dealership was told it was the issue of the manufacture not g. M. Then again I made an appointment they told me I was not on file and they did not sell the vehicle to me, so then I brought proof that in fact I had purchased vehicle and had previously had be in for service. They then told me in order to resolve the air bag issue they would be happy to sell me a new vehicle. { if the manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner } please contact the NHTSA safety hot line \,I believe that from March of 2015 until September 2019 is more than enough time. I cannot even sell this vehicle in this condition the current milage 56,589.
