Carrier/rack problems of the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 1

Cracked dash while driving on hwy 85 rust is forming all under the truck as well as around the doors and bed.

The dash on my chevy silverado 2011 is cracking in different places.

Cracked dash around air bag while driving on interstate.

There's multiple cracks in the dashboard ,1 on the passenger side near the airbag and 2 additional cracks on the driver side .

My truck is in great condition and is parked in our garage or works covered garage 90% of the time. So way has the dash cracked everywhere? I see on line that this is a common problem and has been blamed on leaving in the sun but my truck isn't in that category. I would send pictures if I thought someone would care. Call me, I'd love to talk to someone.

My dash started cracking with big cracks it was parked in the driveway and when I went to get in I noticed my dashboard had started cracking in3 different places.

My dash is cracked in multiple places and completely broken apart in some spots. I have managed to install a dash cover but I feel with this being such a common issue and a potential safety issue gm should be held accountable.

Transmission dipstick broke at the bracket.

Dashboard has cracked and broken in 2 separate places. Top left of the passenger airbag and top left of the instrument cluster with a piece broken out. This is a safety hazard with plastic pieces that can become projectiles or cut the airbag in the event of a crash. This is a common problem on many models and will get worse as the plastic has become brittle. Vehicle is a 2011 year with 82000 miles.

My dash has cracked significantly in three different places at different times. It is unknown to me what caused the first two cracks, but the most recent occurred while I was driving down the road. This not only affects the value of the vehicle, but also worries me that in the event of an accident, it may affect the airbags or even project pieces of the dash towards anyone in the vehicle.

Within 2 day, 2 cracks appeared on my dash. They are in the same spots as others have complained on the net. Top left corner of passenger air bad to windshield and behind the instrument cluster to windshield.

The dash on my 2011 chevy silverado lt has numerous cracks both on the visible parts, but more importantly around the bolts and screws that fasten it in place. My concern is that it is no longer structurally sound and that it could fail causing injury. This dash houses the passenger side air back and it has two cracks that touch the air bag. It is my concern that this is a safety issue. The dash is virtually cracked from one in to the other and the vehicle only has 64,000 miles.

Crack in dash above passenger airbag which I believe could possess a serious safety hazard if the airbag were to deploy.

Dash cracking in several places. Had replaced w/in 12,000 miles and now needs replacing again. Also cigarette lighter covers and usb cover have broken at least 4 times. Handle latch on console broke off while not in use.

Crack on dash at the airbag , it just cracked for no reason . Its right at the airbag , afraid that if airbag goes off the broke piece will fly out and hit someone. Or the airbag will get a hole in it . It was stationary.

"takata recall" airbag light takes over instrument information cluster. Theres no information on when to be repaired or when the airbag will be replaced. 2) dashboard cracked and growing near passenger airbag . I never used armor all etc. . . Concerned about the wiring underneath. Truck currently has 80000 miles . Normal use.

I bought my 2011 silverado with only 36,000 miles on it, before it ever reached 40,000 the dash cracked in the corner of the passenger airbag, and now above the odometer. I'm concerned for the safety of myself and my family if the airbag was to go off and send shards of sharp plastic though the vehicle. I would appreciate gm recalling and fixing the issue that they are already aware of.

Takata recall the dash is cracked in two locations, at passenger airbag and above the instrument cluster for no apparent reason. Vehicle is in excellent condition otherwise. There may be a safety issue due to the proximity to the passenger airbag.

The dash in my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a crack in the dash at the top left hand corner of the passenger air bag. My opinion is that this could cause a safety issue. Either the air bag could fail to work properly or potentially be damaged. Chevrolet has known about this issue and has chosen not to voluntarily take care of it.

Dashboard cracking and breaking around airbag. Possible plastic shrapnel in event of airbag deployment. In my time of ownership exposure to elements has always been limited with use of covered parking or sunshade. Chemicals have never been introduced to the affected area.

My dashboard cracked while driving down the road this morning. On the highway.

A crack appeared in the dash causing a separation in the section behind the airbag I am concerned the pieces could cause injury if airbag is deployed.

The dash is cracking near the instrument cluster and near the air bag. I use a sunscreen, but this seems to be a common issue. This is too expensive and well taken care of a vehicle. I worries me that there may be some safety issues with a cracked plastic dash in case of accident.
