1 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2023

Fuel leak at the fuel tank. Pulled tank from the truck, found the fuel pump housing was completely rusted out. Upon inspection of the pump housing, the high pressure line was rusted out and almost off the pump, causing gasoline to pump out and all over. After replacing this fuel pump I inspected the frame and found the frame looks like a frame off a truck that is 40 years old, not a truck that is only 12 years old. The frame has heavy levels of rust down thru from the drivetrain back. There are spots that are rusted completely thru the frame where it looks like a crack down the frame. Most of the rust is on the bottom side or inside area of the frame. This area with the rust crack will have to be repaired very soon for safety of the vehicle, because if the frame would happen to fail where this crack is, the truck would fold in half, and if it is being driven on the interstate it would cause a major accident for sure. The rusting is so extensive that instead of repairing the spots, it would be more feasible to just go ahead and replace the whole back half of the truck frame. This is unacceptable for Chevrolet to use material that craps out so fast on trucks that are supposed to last many years, instead of falling apart long before they are even paid off. A 12 year old truck shouldn't have this extensive amount of rust damage to the frame. I would just fix the frame if this was commonplace for trucks, but my 2000 Dodge ram has a frame far better then what is under my 2011 chevy silverado as far as rust goes. 2000 Dodge surface rust in spots, 2011 chevy completely rusted thru in spots. My next inspection on this chevy will more then likely remove it off the road unless the frame is repaired. Unacceptable from Chevrolet and for only a 12 year old truck. I added pics of the frame right in front of the fuel tank, which the frame shows that long rusted crack down it. Can send more pictures of the frame in other places if needed.

2 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

Vehicle went into limp mode while cruising at 65 mph. Traction control disabled light and check engine light illuminated. Message center displayed "service stabilitrak" "service traction control" and "engine power reduced" messages. Vehicle slowed and transmission downshifted. Vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. With accelerator to the floor the vehicle would not exceed 35 mph in a flat grade. On a steep incline the vehicle would not exceed 15mph with the accelerator pedal to the floor. The issue has occured several times before. Parking the vehicle on the side of the road and several ignition cycles have in the past have resolved the issue. This is a known issue with gm vehicles using a drive by wire throttle body and it has been recalled on other model years.

3 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2017

Truck consumes much more than average engine oil.

4 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2017

Engine power reduced, service traction control, service stabilitrak, these warning lights came on and as my truck slowed down no matter how much gas I gave it. Also the check engine light came on. I shut truck off and waited a couple minutes then started truck up . It ran for a few minutes then the same 3 warning lights came on along with the check engine. Light. Is there a recall or a technical service bulletin (TSB) for this issue. I did read that there might be a TSB campaign # 11273b for this issue. Is there any paperwork that can be emailed to me to give to the gm dealer to help me with this issue. The vehicle was in motion the first time it happened. It also happens while parked in driveway and just warming up truck . Thank you, scott chipman scottchip@aol. Com.

5 Other Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

The software that makes the truck work as a 4 cylinder truck has caused the engine light to come on and causing a code p0300 various engine misfire. The misfire is caused by the lifter spring causing the lifter to remain in the down position. The down position is against the can rod and as the cam rod rotates, this causes the lifter to break at the bottom and causing the can rod to also break which will cause an engine failure while drinking and the motor will freeze . All GMC and Chevrolet vehicles with this installed should be recalled. Everyone has been fixing it themselves by replacing the part(s) once a pinging noise is heard at 50,000 miles. Basically every 50,000 this will need to be fixed. Some people are turning off the 4 cylinder software to avoid the problem which in both cases, uses more gas and also idles higher.
