The dash is cracked in several places including around the airbag compartment. The cracking happened spontaneously for no apparent reason and has steadily gotten worse.
Crack in dash from airbag to defrost vent.
Dash and airbag support system cracked in multiple areas. Posing a safety risk.
Two cracks appeared on dashboard near air bag.
Dash board cracked upper left corner over airbag.
Crack dashboard by the passenger airbag. I own this truck from day 1 and always had tinted window and use windshield sun shade.
Dealership does not have new air bags to replace due to takata has not come up with a resolution.
Got in my truck one morning and noticed two large cracks in my dashboard. Vehicle had been stationary and in the garage the night prior. One right above the instrument cluster on the driver side, running all the way to the windshield. The other is adjacent to the passenger airbag. I'm afraid that if the airbag deploys it could send plastic shards flying, which could potentially cause serious injury.
Upon wiping my dashboard with a dry cloth(never used any products to clean, or treat the dashboard area) and I do not park vechile in direct sunlight . . . . I noticed 4 to 5 cracks in the dashboard area of both drivers side and passengers side. . . Most concerning. . . That 2 of the cracks are around the passanger air bag located on the passenger side dashboard. . . This is unacceptable as a consumer of gm and a chevy silverado who purchased a vechile thats priced above $45,000. I believe this should be taken very seriously considering the location of these cracks and should be a recall by gm considering the fact that many people are experiencing the same issues. . . . .
2013 Chevrolet 1500 silverado dash cracked above passenger air bag could cause flying sharp plastic pieces if deployed.
While vehicle was in motion we heard a popping noise from front of cabin . Then saw two cracks in the dash. One at the passenger air bag and the other on driver side at the instrument cluster.
Takata recall. My problem is I get a warning on the dash. Says check airbag. Is that bad.
I was driving & heard a very loud noise but didn't know what it was till I was cleaning/vacuuming my vehicle the next day. I was cleaning the vehicle & the dashboard was very dirty so I was lightly cleaning it with a rag & the rag got stuck so when I checked what it was I noticed a very big crack. It also cracked by the airbag & I honestly feel like that is a hazard. It bothers me to think I'm paying over $40k for a vehicle that I chose to defend my family & might malfunction if I'm ever in an accident.
Huge crack on the dash possibly affecting the deployment of the air bag in the event of a crash. Crack was there when I got in the truck in the morning.
Dashboard is cracking leading to risk of flying plastic shards in the event of a crash where the airbags are deployed. This is a design defect on chevy trucks of this model year and similar design model years.
Passenger side dashboard is cracked between the airbag cover and the front of the dashboard top panel. It turns out this is a problem others have noticed on these models as well. My concern is the proximity to the airbag. Other owners have posted photos of larger cracks and holes in the dashboard in this location. I don't want it to cause an issue with airbag functionality were there to be an airbag deployment event. I don't know how long this had been cracked but it was first noticed by my wife on 5/13/2017.
The dashboard around the front passenger airbag is cracked. Unknown when it cracked.
Dashboard is cracking all arround airbag, if airbag were to deploy it would spray plastic parts all over vehicle, it is a part defect and Chevrolet knows this, they will do nothing to address this , there are many people on facebook showing 1000s of pictures , please help, this vehicle is not that old and the cracks started to appear at just 37,000 miles, also if you decide to fix the problem and pay for it yourself , they will not guarantee the new factory dash will not do it again, this just proves that they know it is made defective, hopefully something will be done about this before someone gets sprayed with flying defective parts arround the airbag.
The entire dashboard on the drivers side above gauge cluster is cracking.
Dash cracked from corner of passenger air bag to corner of defrost vent. Concerned if air bag deploys dash fragments may cause bodily harm. Not sure if cracked formed during motion or sitting stationary.
Dash board started cracking around front passenger airbag. 26,400 miles purchased August 2013.
My dash cracked straight line above and attached to airbag, wasn't there, next day it was,Nov 2016 38,000 mi. Called dealership(s) and I called gm/chev support and they said since it was no longer under warranty and there was no recall I would have to pay for it. . . I expressed my concerns as a huge safety issue and obvious defect.
Dash cracked above top left corner of passenger airbag.
The dash has cracked where the passenger air bag cover. It appears that if the air bag were to deploy the dash could fracture further and cause bodily harm.
Takata recall. Got recall notice in mail. Haven't been able to get it fixed yet.
Dash began to crack around the passenger airbag. I am afraid that the dash pieces can become flying projectiles in the event of an accident where the passenger or side impact airbag deploys.
Cracked dash, through and through, resulting in a sharp edge. This was a spontaneous crack. There was no force or trauma. It just randomly appeared.
Dashboard has started cracking around my passenger airbag, leaving sharp edges that I feel may damage the airbag upon deployment.
Dashboard is cracked near the passenger side front airbag. An online search has turned up hundreds of similar cracks, some much worse, on similar Chevrolet and GMC vehicles. Many owners are concerned about airbag safety with the cracked dashboard. In my case, I never leave or place anything on the dashboard, I. E. Feet, miscellaneous items of weight, etc. It was first noticed about Sep 26, 2015. There was no accident or anomaly that occurred to my knowledge that would cause this.
I noticed literally from one day to the next that the dash board in my 2013 Chevrolet silverado is cracking. The crack appeared on the left corner of the passenger side bag. I baby this truck in an attempt to keep it looking new. I don't even really drive it and it is garage kept. I feel this is a huge safety issue with the crack being right there on the air bag system. I have two kids and I don't even let then ride up front anymore in fear that the air bag might deploy and sharp pieces of the dash will fly in their faces.
"takata recall" the dash is cracked on the windshield side around the air bag and may cause the air bag to deploy. Also has two cracks on both side of the instrument panel on the drivers side wiitch leaving it more reason to deploy.
Takata recall this vehicle has repeatedly shown airbag requires servicing since I bought the vehicle brand new. The warning has been looked at repeatedly and I am told nothing is wrong. However the warning persists. I received a letter about a possible recall but that letter was misplaced while asking about the constant warning. The takata site says the 2007-2013 chevy silverado is being recalled for the explosive bag. I am very afraid of an airbag problem but this warning still persists. Do I have to have a deadly accident with the airbag to prove my point?.
