Carrier/rack problems of the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 1

Dash cracked across top of instrument cluster and above the airbag. Took truck in for airbag recall. Went to pick up truck from recall and found a big hole about 3 inches in the top of my dash beside the passenger air bag. I was not warned by service desk of possible damage form air bag replacement nor was I informed by service desk when the damage was done. Nothing was said when I picked up my truck. I complained about the damage a was told it was due to uv rays. Truck has 60,000 miles and has been kept in garage. They did not even clean up the dash when they were done. I can;t drive the truck with family members in it because I feel it is unsafe. Will probably have to put in a new dash just to be able to trade it off. It is just not right. Another issue was with the engine and was turned into the dealership when it has 36,000 miles. The engine has a miss when in park or setting at a light. The rpm drops 150- 200 rpms continuously. After they had the truck for 3 days I was told it was normal. It was the computer adjusting for emissions. Maybe but why did they give me a gm store voucher for 500 dollars? to buy me off, shut me up. Who knows. It just ain't right.

Dash cracked-my dash was replaced under warranty once already. It was cracked near the passenger airbag. It is now cracked again across the front window defrost on the drivers side. My truck is 7 years old and now needs the dash replaced for a 2nd time. I think that is a bit ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is that after it was replaced the first time the service tech told me that they new it was a problem with all of the black interior vehicles that had the gray dash and that it will crack again. Well its 5-6 yrs from when I had it replaced and its cracked again.

Crack dash the truck is garage sense I brought it new it has only 21000 miles it never been outside as far just setting the crack seems to be getting bigger . The truck as never been any accidents .

The dash area around the passenger airbag cover is cracked and would be a flying debris hazard in an accident, especially if the airbag were to deploy. In addition cracks exist directly in front of the steering column that, when the sun hits it, creates a glare that affects visibility. Both of these are safety concerns and gm said that its normal. How is anything that can become flying shrapnel or blinding the driver not a concern or normal. This needs to be resolved before someone gets seriously hurt. These cracks appeared over a year ago but they've now gotten worse and the glare has become more of an issue.

The passenger side dashboard is cracking above the airbag.

The dash above the steering wheel cracked on 12/4/2019, now making a rattling noise. The crack now is going to expand due to vibration and it could effect the drivers side airbag down the line.

Vehicle dash cracked around passenger side airbag. Took vehicle into dealership advised not under any warranty or recalls. Worried in the event of a collision pieces may become flying objects in the event of air bag deployment.

Dash cracked approximately 3�. Very low miles, vehicle has always been garaged.

My dash has cracked on 2 corners near the air bag.

The dash surrounding the passenger airbag is cracking in the upper corners. Also it's cracking in front of the driver side. An accident could lead to pieces of the dash breaking and causing injury or death to passengers.

The dash in my 2013 silverado is cracking, I am concerned about safety if I was to be involved in an accident with deployed airbags.

My dashboard is severely cracked in 2 places. By the passenger airbag and the steering column.

I have 2 large cracks on my dash panel. One is near the dash mounted air bag, and the second is running above my instrument panel. These cracks developed over time. I have found out that this is a common issue with my vehicle. Chevrolet refused to cover the issue under warranty, even after I showed them how wide spread this issue is among Chevrolet vehicles.

The dash is cracked in several places including around the airbag compartment. The cracking happened spontaneously for no apparent reason and has steadily gotten worse.

The warning lights for stability and traction have come on. The dashboard is cracking badly and pieces are falling off.

The dashboard in my pickup has cracked from one side to the other and I am afraid that if I am in an accident that there will be airborne pieces of plastic that will become a hazard.

The dashboard has a crack on the passenger side where the airbag cutout is. I believe this is a major safety issue. Especially if you're in an accident and the airbag deployed there will be pictures of dash board shards fiying through the air and possibly into the occupants with force from the airbag.

Dashboard cracked above the steering wheel in the bend from flat to uprising. Vehicle was parked when this occurred.

Dash has cracked near passenger airbag, heard a loud pop while driving down interstate then noticed the crack, poor quality plastic or other issue is occurring to thousands of vehicles, how long before someone gets seriously injured before it gets investigated.

Dashboard spontaneously cracked near the top left corner of the airbag. The dashboard was intact when locked up overnight, and when I returned to drive the truck the next morning, the dashboard had spontaneously cracked overnight while sitting in my driveway.

Paint has peeled off above the windshield, paint looks very thin and brittle. Dashboard has two cracks near the passenger airbag. I am worried that if the airbag every went off the piece of plastic will be shot off and be a piece of shrapnel in an accident.

Crack dashboard by the passenger airbag. I own this truck from day 1 and always had tinted window and use windshield sun shade.

Upon wiping my dashboard with a dry cloth(never used any products to clean, or treat the dashboard area) and I do not park vechile in direct sunlight . . . . I noticed 4 to 5 cracks in the dashboard area of both drivers side and passengers side. . . Most concerning. . . That 2 of the cracks are around the passanger air bag located on the passenger side dashboard. . . This is unacceptable as a consumer of gm and a chevy silverado who purchased a vechile thats priced above $45,000. I believe this should be taken very seriously considering the location of these cracks and should be a recall by gm considering the fact that many people are experiencing the same issues. . . . .

While vehicle was in motion we heard a popping noise from front of cabin . Then saw two cracks in the dash. One at the passenger air bag and the other on driver side at the instrument cluster.

I was driving & heard a very loud noise but didn't know what it was till I was cleaning/vacuuming my vehicle the next day. I was cleaning the vehicle & the dashboard was very dirty so I was lightly cleaning it with a rag & the rag got stuck so when I checked what it was I noticed a very big crack. It also cracked by the airbag & I honestly feel like that is a hazard. It bothers me to think I'm paying over $40k for a vehicle that I chose to defend my family & might malfunction if I'm ever in an accident.

Right after purchasing my used truck that had around 68,000 miles on it the dash cracked in two different places. The dash cracked just above the instrument cluster and above the passenger airbag.

Huge crack on the dash possibly affecting the deployment of the air bag in the event of a crash. Crack was there when I got in the truck in the morning.
