Check engine light came on. P0442 code. Brought for service. Needed to replace fuel components but frame too rusted to mount parts. Told to see body shop for repair if possible. No rust on bed or body . Body shop could not repair frame. Body shop said frame is no longer safe to drive. Unable to pass state inspection. 97000 mi , no commercial use. Well maintained.
My truck is a 2014 with only 53,000 miles on it. I bought it used in 2016. (it was still under factory warranty) when I tried to get my truck inspected last month the shop told me the frame had holes and cracks in it, was not safe to drive and needed repaired/replaced. I did some research and found sb 19-na-255 regarding my truck. This issue seems to be a wide spread issue with that truck. I took it to the Chevrolet dealer I bought the truck from (wood Chevrolet in carroltown, PA) to ask about the bulletin. They called their gm rep and he told them there was nothing they (gm or the dealer) could do about it. This is a known safety issue and I believe gm should take care of the repairs. Right now I had a vehicle that is not safe to drive, has very low miles and is not safe to drive.
I have a 2014 chevy silverado that I purchased brand new from the dealer. The truck just hit 100,000 miles and recently had a clunking noise from the rear undercarriage. After having it inspected, it has come to my attention that the frame is rusted and rear crossmembers are rusted out causing the rear shock mount to break, and I'm not sure if the frame is salvageable. After doing some research, I found a recall for my year silverado for the undercoating on the frame(not properly done from the factory) but my VIN is not in the recall. I'm at a loss being the year of the vehicle and mileage on the truck considering it might be undeliverable and unfixable.
I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, covered by multiple technical service bulletins regarding issues with premature frame rust due to a manufacturing issue. During the factory warranty period, Chevrolet did not acknowledge or repair the issues noted in the tsbs. A 10 year old truck, with 81k miles on it is no longer safe to operate due to extensive damage to the frame from Chevrolet failing to fulfill their own commitments in resolving this issue. There has been no abuse or failures by myself as the owner that would result in the current unsafe condition. Due to this being an extremely widespread and known issue, this must be further investigated and upgraded to a full recall. Without a full on recall, unsafe vehicles will continue to be utilized on roadways, causing safety concerns to owners, passengers, and others on the roadway. Chevrolet has just refused to repair the damage due to the expiration of the factory warranty period. The vehicle was in possession of Chevrolet several times during the warranty period, but the resolution and repair was not completed. Per the TSB, this was to be completed and Chevrolet acknowledged the issue. Since not all dealerships have the ability or willingness to address this concern, Chevrolet must be put as the responsible party through a recall to rectify this, allowing owners to drive safe vehicles.
This truck has rust and giant holes in the frame, I'm not even sure if its safe to drive. I see that chevy doesn't want to claim ownership of the manufacturing mistake. I can't even sell this truck because it would never pass a safety inspection. Chevy needs to be held accountable and do a recall to those of us who are stuck with the vehicles and fix their mistake. I don't even think a dealer would be able to accept as a trade in. I see other posts here that trade ins were refused due to the frame damage. Your agency needs to do another or first investigation regarding this safety problem!!!.
Steering assist disabled comes on while driving and steering locks up and shuts everything off,and then starts back. Very very dangerous on the road not knowing where or when you're not in control of the vehicle. When this occurs engine stops,no brakes.
After hearing loud noise from under the truck and a very rough ride coming from the rear of the truck, I found that the cross member which holds the shocks are completely rotted away and the shock is up into the bottom side of the truck bed.
During yearly inspection the mechanic noted excessive rust on frame components and warned that something should be done…. I am on my third silverado and frame coating, brake lines and transmission coolant lines have had issues with excessive rust. I bought this new in 2014 and hoped they had addressed these issues… over the previous silverados I have owned. What recourse do I have towards gm. The truck has 50k.
My vehicle has approx 50,000 miles and the right rear shock tower, mounted to frame, rusted and broke away from the frame.
2014 silverado frame has coating defect. Verified by a former chevy employee. Frame us completely rusted and splitting and cracked. Just found this out and was told it could suddenly fail. The mechanic said I need to either fix immediately or get another car. This truck was bought and serviced by best Chevrolet, and they never recalled anything or informed/warned me about it. There is a rich history of these 2014 frame rust defects across the web. I would have never known had the last mechanic not informed me. There are no warning on the vehicle for this. This truck has been well cared for. I have two kids with serious chronic diseases. I can’t afford to fix or replace.
Frame is rotting out.
Have had the vehicle at piles chevy and dan cummins chevy multiple times along with tire discounters everyone says vehicle is in spec and the shaking at 70 to 75 mph is normal however I've owned multiple vehicles non of them has ever had this issue I can't get the dealer to fix it they only say it's a known issue truck only has 57000 miles on it.
When I'm driving the truck the steering wheel turn to the right side very dangerous when you are driving 45 to 70 miles I'm call the dealer and no recall for this problem.

Takata recall- since we first purchased the unit, we have been having problems with it. It first started with with suspension and the wheels, it was doing an awful lot of shaking in the interior and also causing the tires to ware out quicker. Now the airbags are not functioning correctly, we keep getting messages on the dash to service the problems but we I take it to the dealership they keep saying nothing is wrong and to not worry about it, but I am a mother of 2 small children and I am worried.
Truck shakes/vibrates at highway speeds above 65 mph very badly slight vibration at lower speeds also know as the chevy shake.
"takata recall" driving on n loop 820. Vehicle driving ahead of me began to swerve, and I avoided the car. Roads were moderately wet--I was travelling around 40 mph due to possible ice on overpass. I was in extreme left lane, began to slide and turned into the direction I skidded and made contact with center median of highway. Next exit was campus drive. The airbag did not deploy and the sensor was illuminated. I called 911 and police vehicle arrived an hour later. The truck was in the most extreme left hand lane blocking drivers behind me. The sensor remained on, but the airbag did not deploy. Was towed to bruce lowrie Chevrolet.
"takata recall" getting a shimmy at highway speeds, recently aligned and all tires balanced. Still having issues that nobody knows why.
Vibration at 70 to 75 mph!.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving between 45 to 70 mph, the vehicle vibrated severely. The dealer diagnosed that the u joints needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,970.
2014 Chevrolet silverado. Consumer writes in regards to unsatisfactory repair work on recall 16v-208 created another hazardous situation- foreign objects can fall into the gap and jam the seat belt mechanism.
Dealer states that parts for two critical recalls on our 2014 Chevrolet silverado will takes months to receive before an appointment can be made repair. Our vehicle was purchased specifically for towing our travel trailer. The two recalls involve rear braking system and two hitch weld breakage causing the trailer to break away from the vehicle. What is the resolution to have dealers provided in a timely manner the parts necessary to complete repairs. We cannot use our vehicle for months now due to these issues?.
When backup it sound like something is loose in the rear end. The local mechanic shop corrected the problem by lubricating the spring leafs. Indicated there may be some sort of padding between leafs that may be missing. Lubrication solved problem for awhile. Noise is back again.
Vehicle vibrates at highway speeds, to the point that it does not feel safe. It is especially strong at approximately 74 mph. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealer four times and the problem is not resolved. The dealer replaced all four tires, match balanced the tires three times, and turned the brake rotors. The service manager informed me that the vibration is due to the new suspension design. I found a gm bulletin, #pi1354c, that outlines a specific procedure to diagnose the issue. However, the dealer did not follow it.
When turning my truck left or right, there is a clunking/popping noise coming from under the truck (maybe from the front end). Chevy dealership in portland,TX confirmed the noise but could not find the origin of the noise. So the service manager stopped work and said that they were chasing a "ghost". So I spoke with the owner and he did nothing to help me and advice me to take my truck to another dealer for repair. This problem and many others have been occurring so I am not buying another chevy in my life, thanks gm for producing another screwed up vehicle.
Since about 15000-18000 miles this truck vibrates at most speeds, most noticeable at 65 mph and over. It is at the dealer for the second time. The first time all they did was balance the tires, but the problem didn't go away. The dealer is still scratching their heads on this. The loaner 2015 I have is worse and vibrates at all speeds. . . . .
When truck reaches speed of 70 mph or higher there is a vibration in the steering. It feels like the left front wheel has problems. Dealer balanced the tires and said it fixed the problem. The problem has not gone away.
When driving truck on interstate I notice a vibration in the front steering and wheels once the truck goes over 65 miles per hour. This was doing it just after 1000 miles. . When the rotated tires when truck was serviced . The issue is still there.
Bought a new 2014 chevy pickup with four (4) miles on it and it has a vibration that the dealer can not repair (3) times it now has 736 miles mostly put on by the dealer. The more I drive it the worse it gets, gm & Chevrolet motor division have been no help!.
Truck has a vibration in the steering wheel and seats. The dealership has attempted fixes but the issue still persists to this day.
