Excessive fuel smell at vehicle. Fire hazard in enclosed garage area. Found top of fuel sending unit rusted out and leaking fuel.
2015 5. 3 with afm related failure / lifter collapse still within warranty by mileage (5 yrs, 100,000 miles I think), out by years in service, was diagnosed by a gm authorized dealership by a gm master certified technician and under the supervision of service manager. Issue description on 6/18/2025, the dealership diagnosed a failure in the #7 lifter due to afm / afm related failure / lifter collapse. The vehicle’s engine, diagnosed at approximately 58,000 miles and minimal idle hours. While the gm master technician is confident that only one side of lifters require immediate replacement, there is a possibility of damage to the camshaft lobe, which cannot be inspected without significant additional labor. There is also a concern about potential metal contamination in the oil, which could further impact the engine’s performance. I also have many documented repair orders indicating my concern with the transmissions performance.
I heard a sharp click like metal on metal, then I lost all power from the engine. I was on the highway close to rush hour and I was trying to move to the right side of the road and get off on the shoulder, the engine would start long enough to get off the road and then that was it. The engine was dead. I called for a flatbed tow truck through my insurance. I had no idea as to what had happened. However, I have read many reports of engine failure concerning the 5. 3 v8 engine which I have. The Chevrolet silverado 1/2 ton pickup was towed on a flatbed truck to Chevrolet, they found that the engine had dropped a valve in the #7 cylinder and some rocker arms, etc also had broken. The final billing was $7092. 89 I was in traffic going around 60mph when the engine died and put me in an emergency situation. This could have caused a wreck. Several warning lights came on because of a dead engine. I do not believe any rep. Has inspected the parts as this has become a common serious problem, it is all over the internet however I have not seen a recall at this time. I sincerely believe gm should be responsible for this as it has been happening for years and years. Thank you for listening.
Gas tank crack discovered at the top of the gas tank where the fuel system connects to the tank. No previous damage (such as a collision) or excessive (hard) driving has occurred to the vehicle. Vehicle has been maintained according to manufacturer's recommendations.
I began to smell gas near my gas tank. Upon further inspection, I noticed there was gas leaking down the side of the tank. I then tilted my truck bed to look at the leak from above the tank and I noticed that the plastic piece connector coming out of the fuel pump housing to the supply line was pumping a stream of gas all over the top of the tank. I went to disconnect the hose and the plastic piece broke instantly fully cracking apart. Thankfully this was in my driveway and not driving as this would have been very dangerous. There was no warning light and this would have sprayed fuel everywhere, especially at speed. There are hot parts all over there and would probably resulted in a fire, and at the very least the truck to shut off while driving. I did not take it to a dealer as the damage was extremely obvious. The truck has never been in a crash and I’ve never changed out any components involving the fueling system, meaning that it simply broke apart on its own. This appears to be a common problem and yet it is not a recall. I had to spend my own money replacing the fuel pump and housing in the tank, as well as the supply line connector as the plastic on that also failed. I started smelling gas and then a few days later is when I found the issue, but I had been driving the truck, including at highway speeds. The truck has 100,365 miles and I’m the original owner.
My 2015 chevy silverado, at 58,600 miles, started having problems with the fuel sensor. It wouldn't pick up speed. I had to get the fuel pump sensor changed twice already in January and July of 2024. I am experiencing the same issue again now, and it is now showing an emission code, too. I am only at 69,000 miles. This should be a recall. There should not be these kinds of issues on a vehicle when it's been fixed for the same issue over and over.
I bought this vehicle last November from shea. When we bought the truck we noticed the check engine light, but was told that we would have to bring it back in for inspection. The last vehicle we bought from shea it had a 30 day return and it would fix any problems. Not so with this time. So, we purchased a platinum warranty which was a little above $2k and we believed would cover these issues. That was not the case. We had a friend of ours who is a gm mechanic look it over and told us that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. So when I brought the vehicle in on January 22nd I told the service person at the desk that we had a platinum warranty and told him that I had a gm technician tell me that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. After sitting for six hours he comes out and tells me that I needed a high pressure fuel pump and tells me it will cost me $1400. 00+ to have it fixed and it would not be covered by my warranty. And then tells me that the work they did today would cost me $150. 00. I told him when I came in what the problem was. I understand that they need to do their own diagnostics, but why didn't they tell me that the part would not be covered by the platinum warranty. We paid $23k for the truck, plus an additional $2k+ for the warranty and now an additional $1,400. 00-$1,500. 00 for the fuel pump. So, yes we are not happy and will give a second thought to ever using shea again. I understand that this memo will not change things, but I want you to understand that prior to today's fiasco I have told friends that I would recommend shea when looking for a vehicle. Now I would not recommend shea to any of our friends. Sorely disappointed! to go along with the previous text, when I purchased the 2015 z71 silverado the key fob fell apart so I purchased two (2) new ones at a cost of $225 each so that I could start my vehicle on cold winter days. So far, that was a waste of money a money also because the check engine light and the high pressure fuel pump.
My flex fuel sensor went out at 58000 miles, transmission always giving problems on all chevy transmission & should be on recall.
There a recall (14858) for specific problem with the fuel pump. I have the exact problem as the recall but my VIN is not in the database.
Driving 25mph for 3 miles leaving my house speed limit increased to 55 and as I stepped on gas to speed up truck shuttered, shook, and ck engine light came on. #6 cylinder has no compression, found info about common chevy problem 122000 miles.
Randomly the brakes get stiff, even while on a hill or stop and go traffic. I noticed the first time after first buying it that while on an exit driveway at a decline, the brakes felt like they slipped or went away. I had to push them hard all the way down and thought I was going to roll into oncoming traffic. The truck soon after was making a noise and felt like it was losing power and revving after the keg was taken out and loss of gas mileage. The dealership confirmed the brakes vacuum pump and the high pressure fuel pump were both bad and the gas was leaking into the oil causing problems and possibly ruining the engine, they stated both would need to be replaced. Check engine light comes on soon after fresh oil changes everytime and codes were shown on computer for running rich. No codes after the initial oil changes due to the warning lights appearing after a good amount of gas has leaked into the oil.
Afm active fuel management caused engine failure.
While driving, the engine suddenly stalled forcing me to take evasive action to exit the roadway. After having the vehicle towed to the dealership, I was informed the cp4 fuel pump had failed. The cost of the repairs totaled $13,296. 39, plus towing. The repairs took seven weeks to complete.
Fuel tank leak. No warning lights. Strong smell. Fuel on outside of tank. 46,000 miles.
Fuel system is going bad have to replace fuel injectors at 90,000 miles. Keep a check engine light on and makeing cyl 6 misfire. Replace all of the spark plugs and wires and still not fix.
There has been loss of power braking at low speeds. The brake pedal has a vibrating feel as it is pressed. The pedal will go down all the way to the floor with very little braking power. I took my truck in for the recall work for the same issue which had no effect. I had a prior problem with a fuel injector going out with less than 50,000 miles on the truck. This caused loss of power in situations where power is needed such as merging on to a freeway. This is a very dangerous situation where someone could be killed. Chevrolet says the fuel injector is not part on the engine even through the maniford had to be removed to replace it. The part was not replace under under warranty. This part should not be failing under any circumstance.

Fuel injectors causing cylinder misfire - this issue can be very hazardous to the safety of driver and others. First noticed on highway going straight. Then again next morning, vehicle would not start. The date occurred is not exact, but close.
There is a rough idle. I have toke the truck to the dealership they have said there is nothing wrong. It has a hard start during cold weather.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at low speeds and making a left turn, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electrical harness was faulty and needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately one month later, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The diagnosis and repairs were unknown. The failure recurred the next month and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a fuel sensor failure. The vehicle was not repaired again. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
Quoted gas mileage for v6 model was 25/19, I am only getting 19 miles per gallon. I chose the v6 due to better gas milage but I'm getting less milage than the v8 model.
