Failure Date: 05/16/2019

The a/c in my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 stopped working on 5/15/2019 I took the vehicle to the dealer on 5/16/2019 to have looked at. I was told that there is a pinhole leak in the condenser. I was charged 120. 00 to have the problem diagnosed. The cost to repair was estimated at over 900. 00 what upsetting is that I'm now finding out that this is a known problem that gm is totally aware of.

Driving at 2 miles an hour or 65 miles an hour I have an issue with a bad vibration and a shaking coming unknown source. It feels like I'm hitting potholes that are a foot deep when traveling down the road it happens in various times I could be traveling on the highway and it scares me to the point where I have to pull over the vibration is in a floorboard the gas pedal the brake pedal it continues to get worse everyday I've had it to the shop one to two times a month for over a year. When traveling on a regular county road it happens it happens on the highway it happens in parking lots the vibration that I'm feeling from the floorboard into the gas pedal the brake pedal is a all-the-time thing at a idle it has a bad vibration coming from the motor the shop cannot find out none of my problems I've had it in the shop and spent thousands of dollars on in and no one source of vibration and unknown source of why it feels like I have a flat spot where I'm hitting potholes all the time from the front end I've had three sets of tires on it.

There was a hissing sound and smoke in the area of the rear power sliding window, I had read about this concern online and was able to shut my rear defroster off before it blew out the back window but not everyone is that lucky. Gm has a bulletin about a small water leak in the same area but does not acknowledge that it is related to the rear window shattering. The water leaks in directly onto the power components of the glass, creates a short that overheats the glass, and ultimately ends with the rear glass shattering. I was lucky enough to catch mine before it blew out but that could cause a hazard for anyone sitting in the back seat, I do not feel that there should be a recall but some sort of extended coverage on this component for those who express the same complaint. Even if you catch it before the window blows out, the damage from the short is only fixed by replacing the entire rear window assembly (that is what they did to mine). Concern could be moving or stationary as long as the rear defroster is in use. Link to water leak bulletin: https://gm. Oemdtc. Com/8793/water-leak-under-back-glass-from-power-sliding-window-2014-2016-Chevrolet-silverado-GMC-sierra where the leak is identified is exactly where I saw the smoke come from. . Read more...

1) cold starts, put truck in gear (forward/reverse) truck does not move and then all of a sudden truck lurches into direction selected. Velocity of truck acceleration is enough to spin tires on gravel, grass and pavement. 2) after extended highway driving and ci. Ing to a stop (exit ramp) and trans slips upon initial start and shifting. 3) stop and go driving on express (45 mins. ) when traffic started to move and removing foot from brake, truck rolls and when shifting into next gear, trans abruptly shifts and squawk tires. Had to allow truck to start rolling while keeping foot on brake and keeping truck from lurching forward and squealing tires and hitting vehicle in front of me. 4) when passing or accelerating onto expressway, can feel the propulsion fluttering. * problem is ongoing and experienced since new. Numerous trips to dealership and recalibrated shifting and problem continues. I have pics of tire spin upon initial engagement of trans and abrubtly accelerating vehicle .

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2018

Transmission is jerky, and dealership says it's not safe to drive. Faulty transmission wiring harness and heat sensor. Truck has been at dealership for 18 days and gm has no estimate as to when the wiring harness will be available. I'm paying for a 50k truck and paying for a rental with no end in sight. Should be a recall, service tech at dealership told me the part was being re-tooled.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2018

While backing up at low speeds to hook up to a trailer on an incline or even backing up with to no trailer. Multiple times you lose the power brakes which is a severe safety hazard especially when backing up to something. Multiple times I've had to stand on the pedal as hard as possible to stop the truck from hitting the trailer. The pedal has the feeling of no power brakes. This happens at low speed which would be typical backing up to hook onto a load.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

Oncore module.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2018

From speeds of 60 to 80 mile per hour there is an inconsistent vibration or shake felt in the whole truck.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

Purchased brand new chevy Silverado 1500 in 2016, noticed significant shaking of vehicle 11 months into owning. This vehicle is solely used for a daily to and from office job commute, consuming approximately 45 miles a day, mostly highway. The vehicle upon reaching 70 mph shakes terribly, enough to shake my coffe out of the cup. At the same time I also began to notice the quick wearing and feathering/warping of my tires on the inside tread area. Took the vehicle to the dealership and was told I needed new tires, mind you at under 19,000 miles and the shaking "should" stop. Had the tires replaced along with an alignment and the issue still remains. The dealership has been consistent with giving me the run around. Spoke with several silverado owners whom have the issues, some earlier in ownership while others sometime later. Apparently this issue has been given a name "chevy shakes". Searched on line for this issue and surprisingly the problem is well documented/discussed. I'm getting the perception that this is a huge problem and chevy is doing their best to cover it up. Filing this complaint to go along with the others. Hopefully this problem is addressed with a preventive mindset rather than waiting for someone to get seriously injured or killed. It's time for a recall!.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2017

While driving on the interstate there is a bad vibration above 70 mph.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2017

(ec dealer?) tl the contact owned a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While parked, the vehicle caught fire. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was currently at the contact's rental property. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/30/2017

I have a 2016 Chevrolet silverado. Once you get to 70-80 miles per hour it shakes pretty bad. I noticed others have experienced same things. They even named it the "chevy shake". I just wanted to file a complaint so it could be added to the list of others.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2017

Truck has an instant vibration at speeds 45 mph and above. Seems to be coming from the rear but the truck has had it since day one. We purchased the truck brand new with only 14 miles on it.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2017

Ongoing safety issue. . . Vehicle looses power, steering, braking, all other devices inactive, driving safety of occupants and others relevant when driver has no control due to defect. Chevy mechanics believe might be steering system such as ignition and locking elements, due to grinding noise before vehicle looses power and other parts lock up, chevy techs thought might be race and pinion, might be electrical, might be whatever, they are unable to conclusively determine this critical safety defect in truck. Chevy techs have commented they are skeptical about letting anyone drive until resolved. Investment hugh with loss of use and finding other transportation. Why own it. Gm needs to reimburse cost and replace. This is a significant liability. All aspects of non functioning parts don't generate error codes, and this incident has reoccurred over eight times in five days. This requires action by gm, where is it. Loaner vehicle not sufficient replacement for investment. Safety issue commenced on March 16, towed multiple times, been to two dealers, initial more than 200 miles from home, and current dealer where purchased with 25 miles of home.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2017

Purchased truck in February 2017 new had 100 miles on it now has 4435 miles on it now it's been in the dealer 3 times for vibration itso going back for a 4th time for theveryone same issue been to 2 different dealers has had 1 tire replaced on right front and 1 rim replaced on right rear still have vibration issue the the dealer is purchased it at said there's nothing wrong with it took to 2nd dealer they found the issues with it it still has vibration at 55 mph to 70 mph and developed a bad vibration at idle when in park and gm is involved.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/02/2017

I purchased a 2016 silverado lt leftover in Feb of 2017 with 44 miles on it. I noticed a vibration while accelerating and deceleration and at about 70-80 mph. I figured it was the gm factory 22 inch rally 2 edition wheels being in balanced and since I was changing the wheels and tires at 1000 miles anyway I figured it would go away. Since putting on the new tires and wheels the problem is still there and I have had it at a gm dealer twice and my third appointment in on 4-5-17 at a different dealer since the first one does not seem to believe me when I said it was happening with the stock wheels and tires. This makes driving a 50 plus thousand truck not enjoyable at all.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2016

Our silverado has a bad vibration, mostly noticable around 70mph . Gm dealership claimed it was tire balance issue, which has had 2 new sets of tires put on it,and the issue is still there. Gm now will no longer service the truck for this issue, claiming theres nothing wrong with it. Yet the problem is evident and remains unfixed. . . Same problem as on 2014 and up suvs and pickups.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2016

I am having an issue with my new 2016 siverado and a vibration at highway speeds. I took the truck back to the dealer where it was purchased with around 340 miles on it. I was told they could do nothingh until I had 1000 miles on the truck (they stated they could not get paid by chevy for warranty items). That ticket stated they rebalanced my tires. This had no change. I took the truck back after 1000 miles. The dealer did a road force balance. This helped very little. Now, at 1345 miles, it is back in the shop. They state they will do a picoscope on the truck and check the axle. I should mention the underlying issue is a vibration that can be felt at speeds in excess of 65-70mph. It is more prevalent from 70-75mph. I have filed a complaint with gm, reference case 82405350103. This appears to be the same issue for the 2014-2015 models referred to as the "chevy shake". One more attempt and I will likely start lemon law procedures in GA. I would like someone to seriously investigate gm on this complaint. There are plenty of forums with people complaining about the same issue. This could be an extremely dangerous issue if it is tire or wheel related, or even drive shaft related.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2016

2800 mileage since new because I have problems fueling the tank. I cannot get fuel to pump into the tank correctly. It's been a problem since I purchased the truck. I've taken it to many different gas stations thinking it was a gas pump issue. The pump handle clicks off when trying to fill the tank. It makes no difference how fast you try to fill the tank or how deep the nozzle is inserted into the tube. I had a Chevrolet service person at the local dealership try to fill the tank to verify my issue. He noticed there is a problem. They checked for a "TSB" and there is one detailing a replacement of the fuel tank. Service advisor stated they would call after getting in the part in 3 days. They never called back. I called back after a week because they never returned my complaint issue. She stated that they cannot get the parts to fix the problem from gm. I do not understand how this is not a recall. I must fill my tank with a gas can to get it to take any gas. A major inconvenience and fuel spillage. I like the truck. I just can't fuel it with a gas pump.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2016

There is a abnormal vibration felt from the rear end of the vehicle when driving at speeds above 70 mph.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2016

Vehicle shakes at speeds above 60 mph. The shake is in the vehicle and not in the steering wheel. Tires have all been replaced under warranty and problem still exists. Vehicle has approximately 1,200 miles on it and problem has been apparent from initial purchase. Vehicle has now been to dealership 3 times for approximately 10 days in total.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

This vehicle (2016 silverado) has all the characteristics associated with the "chevy shake", an unresolvable driveline under seat vibration that is very severe at times. Gm has issued service bulletin pi1354c which I followed at my expense to reduce / eliminate the severe shake that occurs at speeds of 69 79 mph with no improvement. I believe it is a safety matter when a vehicle shakes to the extent of driver distraction and there are dangers associated with the long term effect on safety components that are subject severe shaking that they wouldn't otherwise be subjected to under normal durability testing. I do not feel "in control" while driving the vehicle when the severe shaking occurs at 69mph. I believe that since this is an ongoing build issue with thousands of documented complaints gm should be held accountable to determine the cause and provide relief to gm truck owners.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2016

My truck shakes on the highway at 68-75 mph, the truck is one month old and has 800 miles on it. The vehicle has been back to the dealer every week for the month that I have owned it tires & wheels have been changed several times. The truck has been road force balanced the same & also by an independent tire shop at my own cost, as of this date my vehicle still shakes, gm has admitted the problem but they say it is not a safety issue at this time, so no recall is warranted, the dealer has been working with me & they are willing to buy my vehicle back at full value or trade, this vehicle was very expensive & gm knows there is a problem, but keeps selling them any way to unsuspecting consumers like myself in my opinion this is just greed & lack of caring for loyal customers that keep gm in business. "remember the bailout".

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2016

New truck purchased Aug 12, 2016 has a bad vibration and shaking at speeds of 60 mph and above. The dealer balanced the tires on Aug 20th but the vibration was still there on the way home. On Aug 21rst there was a loud popping in the rear end and a lot of vibration. I took it back to the dealer and they said a tire had to be replaced because of a broken belt. I received no service ticket or documentation for either of the repairs. When I called general motors customer service line, the rep said that the dealer had no repair ticket listed for my truck. My wife and I feel the truck will not be safe or reliable.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2016

Passenger right front vent doesn't blow very much air at all times. . . It has never blowed as much air as the other vents.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2016

From the day I took posession of the truck I have complained of a vibration in the chasis. I was first told I had flat spots on the tires and were replaced. Did not resolve the issue. Next told I had a nail in my tire, had it replaced, did not resolve the issue. Next they told me about a friction/road test that was needed on some 1500 pick ups. They "balanced my tires" and told me I was good to go. Did not resolve the issue and the vibration continues. This happens when driving at 65mph and above although it has happened at lower speeds.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/23/2016

The steel cables that hold the tail gate in the down position are different lengths. The left or driver side cable is the only cable that has tension on it in the down position. The full weight of the tail gate is only on one cable that could cause failure of the cable due to the weight and could cause the tail gate to torque and be damaged. The slack on the right or passenger side cable has about a 6 inch play in it. I contacted the dealer and gm. The dealership and gm stated that was the way the cables were engineered. I owned a 2002 GMC sierra previously and both cables on the tail gate were the same length, which distributed weight evenly. I looked at other 2016 silverado models and most had excessive slack on the right tail gate cable as mine, but some didn't. This problem could cause injury if weight is on the cable and could damage the tail gate itself.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2016

I bought a 2016 chevy Silverado 1500 ltz z71 and it vibrates at idle and the transmission is slipping. I had already took it to the dealership to get it fix, but no luck. Gm told me that is how the truck is designed to operate, which is hard to believe. There is absolutely zero help from gm to help me resolve the problem. I was given an option to trade it in for a new one at my own expenses or deal with the problem. Ford would not take my truck as a trade in nor will GMC. This vehicle can potentially by dangerous and a liability as the transmission seem to have a mind of its own and the constant vibration cannot possibly he good for anyone.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2016

I have what has been deemed "the chevy shake". Tires have been replaced and balanced. But at highway speeds 70 mph and above there is a very noticeable vibration in the truck. I just read a report describing this problem in the '14 & '15 models but gm hasn't fixed the problem yet in '16.
