Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the service stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned. I've almost been involved in an accident this week because the truck turns off while making a turn. I was at a stop sign waiting to turn left having to cross 2 lanes of on coming traffic and when I accelerated the trucks electrical cut out and forced the steering wheel to go straight I gave it more gas and the truck turned back on. On another day I pulled up and put it in reverse turned right and the truck shut off I had to put it in park and restarted it to back in my driveway. Gm need to fix this.
Transmission shifts erratically, sometimes violently. It seems to shift through several gears within seconds. There is no warning lights or codes that appear. I was rolling in line to exit a parking lot, going less than a crawl, and transmission shifted. It sounded like I had been rear-ended and vehicle lunged forward. There was enough distance that I was able to avoid the vehicle that was in front of me.
Stability track came on left me stuck a on train tracks and middle of an entersection.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000. The VIN was not available.
This vehicle has been driven only on highway and local paved suburban roads. Fully maintained per manufacturer recommendations. This vehicle has never been used to tow. Transmission suddenly failed during driving creating an unsafe condition on a 55mph busy road.
Unknown.
Torque converter.
2016 silverado with 5. 3l and 8l90 transmission. Experienced a p0711-transmission fluid temperature sensor "a" circuit code and a p0700-transmission control system malfunction. The p0711 code has periodically come up multiple times in the past, but would clear itself before could make to a dealership to troubleshoot. The temp reading on the instrument cluster has always been erroneous though with inaccurate readings (e. G. Transmission temp reads 20 deg on an 80 deg day) or wild swings in temperature reading. There is a gm special coverage notice for this issue due to the amount of owners this has affected (n192291660), but this only applies to 6. 2l owners even though multiple 5. 3l owners that have the exact same 8l90 transmission are experiencing this same issue.
Transmission valve body failure, first failure around 28-30000 miles, second failure at 44,000 miles. Truck has been at chevy garage for two weeks, I still have no answer on part or remedy.
Transmission slips and stutters, till it completely stops. I have now had to replace my transmission twice.
5th and 6th gear in the transmission quiet working due to the torque converter being bad while I was driving down interstate which caused the valve body in the transmission to go bad.
Jerking of 1-2 gears. Also in 5-6. Has not been inspected thoroughly by dealer. Was told “it’s just the way these vehicles are. ” merging onto oncoming traffic, I fear for my safety. No warning lights and the jerking/rumble strip feeling is becoming more common than when purchased.
Transmission failure.
See attached document for complaint.
Common issue with these trucks shudders while driving on highway current lawsuit for same problem.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle made an abnormally loud grinding sound and was jerking significantly. The contact stated that the failure occurred while depressing the accelerator pedal, immediately after shifting into gear. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and surged upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
P0711 and p0700 code indicates a “transmission 8l90 temperature switch failure” requiring a transmission wiring harness replacement on my vehicle equipped with an 8 cylinder, 5. 3l gas engine. Reference n192291660 special coverage transmission wiring harness, which only applies to vehicles equipped with 8 cylinder, 6. 2l gas engine. Based on my research, this is a common problem on vehicles equipped with 8 cylinder, 5. 3l gas engines and the TSB should be modified to include them as well. Respectfully…gm needs to acknowledge this problem and be held responsible for repairs on transmission 8l90 temperature switch failures for 8 cylinder, 5. 3l gas engine.
Transmission problem. Harsh and clunk noise when shifting. Hesitation when accelerating and when shifting to reverse. It only has 70,000 miles the dealer wants 7 to 8 thousand to fix it.
Automatic transmission slips gear. When idling on hwy vehicle automatic transmission doesn't go into drive. Stalled on hwy at traffic light.

Transmission has the shudder caused by a faulty torque converter currently under a lawsuit for same problem.
Shudder torque converter problems.
While driving down the road my engine started revving and would not move and while driving on a highway 2 days ago the transmission starting studdering.

Transmission completely destroyed. Transmission known to have various problems had in shop twice and still not right! total cost so far is 4800 dollars.
At 89,000 miles my transmission started to make a clunking noise took it in to a shop and transmission needed to be replace.
I have had to replace the transmission in this vehicle 3 times within a year and half time frame. Initially experienced harsh shifting, significant hesitation in shifting and the transmission overheated whilst driving on the highway to the point where smoke was clearly visible. Each of the 3 failures stemmed from the torque converter. There were no warning lamps or messages present prior to the failures.
Powertrain failed and vehicle would no longer move. Engine would rev up, but truck would not move in any direction, almost like the transmission had gone into neutral. Powered the vehicle off, then back on, and it violently jerked, but was enough for me to get to the shoulder. Afterwards, got the vehicle checked out with a scanner, there were no check engine codes coming up, nor were there any lights on the dash. When they checked the transmission oil, there was a lot of metal flakes, which will require a transmission change. Eletric seats also do not allow any movement, making it very difficult when others try to drive the truck.
Due to multiple electrical issues causes my stabilitrac, lane assist and power steering assist to cut out. After reading multiple forums and speaking to other owners many of these trucks have the same issue and chevy isn’t addressing at all.
At 143,000 miles my transmission stopped transmitting engine power to the wheels.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while shifting from reverse to drive, there were four hard bumps. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the failure was due to the computer. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
While driving on the highway on ramp, the transmission came out of gear. The engine would accelerate but the transmission would not stay engaged. At this time the check engine light came on. Upon having it towed to a dealership and having the vehicle inspected. It was determined that "the torque converter came apart causing metal in the pan when hot vehicle would stop pulling". The transmission has been replaced at considerable expense. Dealer had stated to me that they have seen multiple vehicles with this same issue from 2015 to 2020 models. While we were at the dealership two vehicles were checked in with similar issues. This torque converter issue poses a risk while accelerating/passing other vehicles.
My truck started shuddering and having shifting issues. Took to Chevrolet dealership and was told that this has become a common issue with this type of transmission. We ended up having to replace the transmission.
