general problems of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

While driving on the freeway accelerating the truck made a huge clunking noise and dropped speed instantly and I was unable to accelerate. The tow truck driver said it was a transmission problem. Truck had to be towed and is at the mechanic awaiting an official diagnosis.

This vehicle (2016 silverado) has all the characteristics associated with the "chevy shake", an unresolvable driveline under seat vibration that is very severe at times. Gm has issued service bulletin pi1354c which I followed at my expense to reduce / eliminate the severe shake that occurs at speeds of 69 � 79 mph with no improvement. I believe it is a safety matter when a vehicle shakes to the extent of driver distraction and there are dangers associated with the long term effect on safety components that are subject severe shaking that they wouldn't otherwise be subjected to under normal durability testing. I do not feel "in control" while driving the vehicle when the severe shaking occurs at 69mph. I believe that since this is an ongoing build issue with thousands of documented complaints gm should be held accountable to determine the cause and provide relief to gm truck owners.

The 2016 silverado has a programming issue for the transmission. When I drive under a load going up a hill it chugs like I have a miss fire issue. The programming is set so it stays in the highest gear for to long when driving in city conditions. It stays in 6th gear going 25-30mph and when you need the throttle. The transmission can't decide which gear to be in. On two different occasions I went to pull out of a side road onto a main road and the truck fell flat on its face like I hit a kill switch and it all most caused me to get t-boned. I hit the throttle multiple times before it decided it was going to 100% throttle and have me going out sideways onto the main road. I have taken it to the dealer and they have confirmed it to be a programming issue, but there is no fix from gm and the dealer can't do anything with it because of epa laws, but there are aftermarket tuners that address this very issue and fixes the problem and also voids warranty of the truck. It's had the issue since the 2nd week I've owned it from new. The dealer told me to keep calling gm to complain, but all gm does is send me to the dealer. Where I'm told there is nothing that can be done. It is an ongoing issue and is only a matter of time before it causes an accident or death if it hasn't all ready.
