When driving all gauges go to zero, truck doesn’t illuminate which gear it’s in, warning lights come on (service 4wd, service stabilitrak, service traction control, reduced power steering, service traction control, service trailer brake system ). When not driving if these issues show on the dash when parked and the car doesn’t illuminate which gear it’s in, it does not crank over, does not start, there is no clicking noise either like if it was a bad starter. All the dash lights, gauges, radio goes black as if I turn the vehicle off instead of on. This has been happening since around 2020-2021 in colorado. It was in a shop for over a month with no resolution. In idaho in 2022-2024 in a shop for a month with no resolution, and now CA in 2025. No mechanic shop can figure out what is wrong, no “certified gm” shop or “certified gm engineer/technician can tell me what’s wrong. I have had the following replaced already and still having issues. Body control module (bcm), the transfer case control module (tccm), and the brake control module (bcm).
My vehicle radio goes crazy, but oddly the speedometer goes away as well. I was able to get it back by turning radio off completely, but this should be a recall issue. Please help.
Stalling with no power transmission is putting me at risk since I first purchased this vehicle. Transmission needs to be replaced because of the defective drive shaft on all 2017 models . Really serious problem with a hard shift and multiple misfire. Just not sure what to do at this point. I’m still paying for a truck that’s not working.
An electrical issue of uncertain origin involving the stabilitrack system that causes the truck to jerk a different direction or stop completely in unexpected fashion.
Vehicle has abrupt, unexpected power failures and/or issues with "stabilitrak" that causes immediate engine shut-off at highway speeds and/or causes the steering wheel to jerk unexpectedly potentially causing a run-in with traffic.
The transmission locked up while driving such that we came to a stop in traffic with our newborn and toddler in the back seat and were required to call 9-1-1 because the vehicle was stuck in a gear and would not move while we were in the middle of a road in traffic. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer that the transmission blew due to metal getting into the transmission from failure of transmission pan. There was minimal warning before it happened. Approx. 8 months prior we had taken it in to dealer because the rpms were running high and and we’re told it was the 4 wheel drive causing it and approx. 2 weeks prior to this incident we heard grinding.
My transmission had to be replaced. It has always lunged, jerked, shake and make several unnatural noises. It would clunk into gear or not go in the proper gear. Several times it would not down shift and pushed me into the intersection either at a stop sign or red light. It felt as if I was hit from behind. One day it wouldn't go forward or reverse. It started working later and I took it to a dealership. There were no warning lights on so no codes were displayed. Suggested driving it as maybe it was just a glitch. The next day it wouldn't go over 40 mph and check engine light came on. I took it back to dealership. After they saw the codes, a mechanic looked at it and said there was metal in the transmission fluid and it smelled burnt. They said it needed a new transmission. I took it to a transmission shop and they confirmed it needed replaced. I had this done and it was over $5000. Transmission shop said they do 2-3 transmissions for silverado a week, especially 2016 and 2017.
I was driving on along wt harris highway and I attempted a turn along jw clay blvd. When my I pressed the gas and my truck didn't respond. I lost acceleration and it took a dangerous amount of time for me to cross the highway. There aren't any warning lights or a check engine light on, but my transmission has begun to slip gears. This is after I had over 2k work done at the dealership for other problems I was having. Since no warning lights were visible it came as a complete shock in the middle of traffic when I could not accelerate. I have had my truck inspected by aamco total car care and they have confirmed the problems and also the lack of warning lights or codes. After some research online I have found this issue common with Chevrolet silverados manufactured between 2015-19.
Trailer brake system message comes on multiple time. Have never pulled a trailer. Also when going 75mph on cruise control the "stabilitrak" message comes up and kicks off my cruise and completely blanks out my screens. This is extremely bothersome and is definitely a safety issue with this wiring problem.
Torque converter failure, only 33k miles on vehicle. Had a load of dirt in bed of truck, while going home had too pull to side of road. Cause - truck shook violently almost lost control, thought someone hit me at first. While getting started again, noticed transmission was shifting funny but got home and symptoms went away for approx 2 months. April 16 while going for a drive on the highway, truck shifted down gears while cruise was set at 65mph the had trouble getting into gear so I pulled to the side and shut her down after I noticed a engine light come on. Luckily I had a scanner in my vehicle that I carry all the time and the code po741 came up. Torque converter and impellar, sensors, wiring issue. I called dealer immediately to set up apps and they came to same conclusion, torque converter, impellar, trans lines .
My engine went out while I was driving in the highway. The engine started ticking and I was instantly limited to 30mph with cars going highway speeds around me. No symptoms or warnings prior to that. Dealer said it was faulty lifters required for the afm module.
Lost all communication to transmission control module, electronic brake control module, trailer brake control module, broken can bus wiring, lost windows, can not drive!.
Our 2017 Silverado 1500 truck went into low power mode while driving on the interstate at 75 mph. It started to run really rough and all of a sudden all the lights were flashing on the dash and it lost power. The light on the dash was flashing low power mode. Couldn't get above 35 mph putting us in a very dangerous position with traffic flowing 70 mph + had to try to maneuver off the interstate. Turned it off to reset it and it drove normal but the check engine light was on. Took it to the dealer and they said they had to reprogram the ecm. I found several other instances of this problem being reported on gm and Chevrolet discussion forums.
I am requesting that dot NHTSA investigate the extreme wobble/vibration/shake on new 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The vehicle was purchased new and driven under 55 mph for the first 500 miles. After the first 500 miles and beginning to drive highway speeds, between 60 - 75+ miles per hour, a wobble/vibration/shake began to occur. When the wobble/vibration/shake begins the driver feels that control of the vehicle is being lost and the driver must decrease the speed, which is able to be accomplished with both releasing foot off of the accelerator or lightly breaking, in order to regain control. The vehicle has been to the dealer for front left wheel replacement due to the inability of original tire to be balanced, the vehicle has field force balancing 3 times, and the left front axle boot has been replaced. After several attempts to correct the wobble/vibration/shake, the vehicle now has ~10,000 miles, the wobble/vibration/shake continues to occur at highway speeds.
