Faulty injector connectors get a loose connection and make truck shutter and check engine light come on . This has happened 3 times already and had to replace one faulty plug . This is all over the internet from other l5p owners. Yet GMC want do anything.
Radio changing channels by itself, menus changing by itself, instrument screen changing from info to audio by itself, calls being made to last number by itself, navigation image jumping to different areas by itself not showing the vehicles location, causing confusion when trying to get directions. All this is very distracting for driver and could possibly cause distraction enough to cause an accident.
While driving down the road, I received several non stop alert messages stating "service trailer brake system". The messages were non stop and while I did attempt to acknowledge them and dismiss the alert, I was distracted from driving and had to pull over to attempt to acknowledge or dismiss the alert. After several minutes, I was able to dismiss the alert and continue on my way. This happened on Tuesday evening around 5:00 pm on August 30, 2022. I called mike anderson Chevrolet on Wednesday August 31, 2022 around 12:30 pm to advise them about the situation and was told it was water in the wiring.
Radio will not let you use part of the screen that controls the phone system. Can not use hands free calling. Cannot us any buttons on the bottom of the radio or the left side. Complaint #11479518 was also filed.
Service trailer brake system audible message appearing due to faulty wire harness between body control modules.
Sudden loss of vehicle electrical power as well as steering and break control due to faulty negative battery terminal. Engine will stall and steering wheel will kick back and issue a stabilitrak service message. Vehicle will become inoperable while still moving with no way to control.
At a low speeds while taking a turn, the electrical system clicks off and then clicks back on after about a second. Im able to see the voltage drop while taking the turn. When this happens, the power steering goes out while taking the turn. . Read more...
The electrical power steering failed on my way home as I turned in to my street my steering became very hard to control nearly causing me to crash into a neighbors vehicle. This is the second time my electrical power steering has failed. About a year ago the original electrical power steering went out and a new one was purchased from a dealer ship and installed by a automotive company. Here we are a year later and it has gone out again but this time almost causing me to crash during a turn into my street. No warning to me at all that my power steering was about to go out. Yes. My 2018 silverado truck is available if an inspection request is asked of me.
Radio is malfunctioning. Radio would randomly change channels. Than the radio would have a line in the bottom of the screen. Than the half the radio just quit. Now the radio or phone calls does not work at all. I do not have access to hands free calls. I believe there is a recall on the same stereo for the 2019 models. It has not been inspected but is available for inspection. No warnings lights prior to the radio not working. I have a video but I do not know how to attach.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 mph off the highway towards his home, the electronic gauge started fluctuating, indicating a low voltage failure. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he parked the vehicle in the driveway and turned off the vehicle. The contact then attempted to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to restart. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and recommended that the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealer for service. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not repaired. The failure mileage was 43,364.
Rear back up camera not working. Blue screen on dash. This is a very common issue with gm.
The rear driver side lamp started flickering and eventually was completely dead. On inspecting, it was found that the earthing brown wire pin in the connector was completely burnt and it also burnt the area right on the spot where it connects to the lamp panel.
I have a 2018 chevy silverado 4wd, crew cab truck purchased brand new in 2018. Over the last year, I have had intermittent, and relentless chiming of the "service trailer brake system". This occurs any time, completely randomly during normal, everyday driving and while not towing. It is horrendously distracting, and won't stop once it starts, even after clearing the message, it will continue to chime again every 1-2 minutes until I park the truck and turn off the engine. I have taken it to my local chevy dealer, they can't find anything wrong with my truck. I have checked fuses, switches and relays, to no avail. I see this is not a "once-off" problem, it would appear 10s of thousands of consumers have had the same issue posted about blogs, youtube and more around the internet since at least model year 2017. This is a complete safety hazard and unacceptable! the chime is a distraction and prevents other vehicle safety features from being usable when it is going off. In addition, I imagine if I were towing, that means my braking system would be rendered unusable. That doesn't seem acceptable and there should have been a recall on this already based on my vast research. I am angered that this keeps happening even under normal driving conditions, and it is a defect of the trailer wire harness system, not something any vehicle owner has done, not due to abuse, or even normal wear and tear. I am angered that even my dealer can't find and fix the problem. However, it should not be my responsibility since this is a clear and obvious defect amongst nearly 100,000 similar model vehicles. I do not feel this is safe in any way and there needs to be a remedy "recall" performed so that other owners and myself can get this taken care of once and for all. Thank you.
The power steering will randomly go out when turning at slow speeds, or when parking. The entire truck has lost power steering and then lost all power to the vehicle for a split second then return to normal power.
10 degrees outside starter motor will freeze up and not want to start the truck. Had 3 mechanics not a deal all look at it, tested the battery and came to the starter motor is defective. To have the starter replaced at the dealer for its under warranty.
While driving in the daytime voltage at the dash dropped almost 9 volts but when I turn the headlights on, it goes back up to 14 volts I’ve had this problem since I got the truck January 5, 2022.
Trailer brake service warning.
Bought the truck new. Never towed a trailer till well after warranty. Service trailer brake light keeps coming on continuously. Then no trailer lights or trailer brakes. Found 2 blown fuses but now the same thing is happening again. After my research I found tons of information that lots of other people are having the same issues. I have not pulled my RV since because I'm worried about it not having brakes. It's quite large and without them this truck would not be able to stop in case of a quick emergency.
Trailer brake system failure we noticed the sudden drainage of power resulting in death of battery multiple times alert was present after we notice the loss in voltage in battery to battery drainage after research I found that it is usually a short or a bad wiring harness which causes this and could pose a danger considering how I at one point in time have trilled things this could be an issue and a danger to others on the road.
Service trailer brake system warning has been activating, without a trailer attached, since October 2021 off-and-on. When this occurs it has created a very distracting situation while driving due to the relentless chiming of this warning notice.
Truck loses power driving down the road. The service trailer brake system warning comes on the dash. The battery dies because of this also.
Twice now gm has recalled the block heater for my truck. The first remedy did not fix the issue and had to be recalled again. This was back in July 2021. It is now the end of November 2021 and nothing more has been done. My truck requires a block heater in order to start in the upcoming cold months. This will make two years in a row I cannot use my truck when the temperatures fall below freezing. It directly affects my livelihood because I need a truck for work. What more can I do to speed this process up? how is it gm can still sell new diesel pickups with working block heaters, but are not required to fix the older diesel pickups?.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 mph and approaching a bend, the vehicle lost power and shuddered. The traction control and engine warning lights were illuminated. There was smoke emerging from the vehicle. The vehicle had previously lost power and stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and the battery was replaced. The mechanic informed her there was a possible electrical failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the lifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure. The failure was approximately 88,799.
For months now, my 2018 chevy Silverado 1500 has a “service trailer brake system”notification on the the dash that repeatedly pops up every 5-15 seconds while the vehicle is on, including while driving. This, along with the pinging sound that comes with the notification, makes the vehicle difficult to drive due to the constant distraction the notification makes. I have tried taking issue with the dealership but they are not helping whatsoever. From my own research online, I have seen hundreds of other people experiencing the same issue. Please help us eliminate this distraction by forcing a recall and thus making the roads safer for everyone. Thank you.
At slow speeds, such as when parking, the truck?s electrical system shuts down, I lose power steering, dash lights, radio, and then the truck restarts itself and continues. This has happened multiple times and Chevrolet dealers don?t w what the problem is. If nearly collided twice due to lack of power steering.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds during high weather temperatures, it was discovered that the air conditioning system failed to activate and cool the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the radiator valve was leaking and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,540.
The dic and infotainment both change settings on their own. It will change radio stations or call people on the infotainment and the dic will change information displayed. The safety issue is it will also flash that the trailer has been disconnected/connected and when it thinks the trailer has been disconnected the trailer brakes will fail to function. It is a known problem with the display issue but I am unaware of any reports on trailer brake function. I have had a few serious conditions on two trailers when the truck does not recognize the trailer being connected and fails to apply the brakes.
While waiting to order a morning coffee at a local coffee shop drive thru (stationary), the rear defrost/defogger caused one of the glass panels of the rear windshield/back glass to shatter/explode. There was also smoke & an unmistakable electrical burning smell present at that time. Please refer to gm canada recall n192220470, as I believe this should become a safety recall in the united states of America as well.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated he replaced the battery and was able to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while the vehicle was parked. The contact stated he was able to jumpstart and restart the vehicle however, as he was exiting the parking lot and making a right turn, the vehicle inadvertently stalled almost causing him to crash into a wall. Several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact jumpstarted the vehicle however, the failure reoccurred while driving and he veered to the side of the road. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The radio, the headlights were engaging and disengaging independently. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of repair as the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,500.
Truck stationary. Started engine. Immediately message showed up on dashboard indicating steering assist low, drive carefully. No power steering. Traction control warning lit. Shifted into reverse; truck would not move as if in neutral. Truck move move forward in drive but would not shift out of low gear. Also traction control symboil turned on. Took it to peters Chevrolet longview, TX. Dealership found no issues.
Hood latch sensor throws an engine fault code. The code says it cant determine if the hood is open or closed. After about 2 weeks the hood latch sensor keeps faulting every 1 second to 4 seconds for an extended period of time.
Been having voltage issues for a couple of days where my lights dim and volt gauge drops and raises while driving or stationary dealer said it's normal also hard down shifting while driving not letting off the gas assistant brakes have failed and clunk hard sometimes when stopping or press hard back at me through the pedal again dealer said it's normal I pulled my truck out from the back of the house to the front shut it off to go get ready for work a couple minutes later my daughter informed me my truck was over heating I went to door to find smoke pouring out of my truck from under the hood grab a fire extinguisher run out pop the hood and the whole passenger side of compartment is in flames how does a vehicle that's not running start on fire? awaiting my insurance company to get it out of here I imagine will be a total loss there isn't much left of the engine bay so not sure what started the fire.
Truck will lose all power, everything will shut off, and then come right back on. It has happened while accelerating into traffic, slowing down turning right and turning left, and while moving straight ahead. It has been in the shop once for this same issue and they tell me they cannot find anything wrong with it. The stabilitrac warning will come on and go off and have had stall warning flash in traffic at stop lights. This has been going on for the last 12,000 miles and I have 20,083 miles on truck now. The clock and radio reset. It shutdown pulling into traffic on a busy highway and was a very dangerous situation. Been trying to get it into dealership since 3 weeks ago and no luck. This is not the only issues with this truck.
The rear defroster light is flickering. This is a known recall in canada for this same year, make and model. This is a fire hazard.
When I opened doors the fuel pump turns on, while I'm driving it shifts and runs funny and you hear popping noises. The guages mess up and radio turns on and off. Like its being hacked.
