Passenger side upper control arm broke in two about to re-enter i75. Had been on I 75 and was going back on it when handling went wonky on service road. You can see from the rust in the break this stamped part was cracked a while. Vehicle has not hit or run over anything since I have owned it. Had I been on i75 at highway speed it would have been deadly.
I purchased a used 2018 Chevrolet silverado high country (VIN: [xxx] ) on [xxx], with 24,375 miles. On the day of pickup, the truck felt like it was driving over rumble strips. Dimmitt Chevrolet flushed the transmission and used the updated mobil 1 hp lv fluid. This worked temporarily, but the shudder returned. Carmax then sent the truck to burke’s transmission in sarasota, where they replaced the torque converter. However, the shop declined to rebuild the transmission, citing its complexity. I later brought the truck to cox Chevrolet in bradenton. Despite clearly describing the shudder, harsh shifting, and driveline clunk, they told me the behavior was “normal” and refused to investigate further, stating, “we’ll look into it once the unit fails completely. ” the symptoms have worsened. Harsh 1–2, 2–3, and 3–4 shifts are back. Shifting into drive causes a loud clunk and forward lurch. Cold starts cause bucking and sudden stopping. I’ve replaced the tires, bilstein 5100 rear shocks, and front suspension parts, but the problem persists. I signed on to a class action lawsuit against gm over the 8l90 transmission, but my claim was denied. This issue is well-documented and matches reports from many other owners. It affects drivability, safety, and long-term reliability. Gm and its dealers have failed to properly address this known transmission defect. I urge NHTSA to investigate further. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Upper control arm weld broke around the top of the ball joint, a couple of months later other passenger side did the exact same thing.
Control arm failure with tire separation from vehicle.
I have an odd bounce/vibration front suspension both tires intermitting bounce on flat roads. It feels similar to drive on washboards raises on the highway. Suspension bouncing extremely fast. Transmission issues: some owners have experienced jerky shifts, delayed gear engagement. On and off noise click in dashboard.
Back in December of 2018 when I got my truck it only had a1000 miles on it and it has been down shifting hard it jerks hard I have reported it to the mechanic at the dealership at mitch smith in cullman alabama and that said OH it’s supposed to do that well now it’s out of warranty and they said it needs this that and the other.
I purchased this vehicle from galles Chevrolet in albuquerque new mexico as a certified pre owned vehicle. Couple of days after I noticed a vibration coming from the front steering and drivetrain I immediately took it back to galles and they told me nothing was wrong with it and that the aggressive tires was what I was feeling. So I took it back and drove it for a couple of weeks and the vibration started getting worse so took it back again they rotated and balanced the tires and said it was fine. A few weeks passed and it started again took it back and told me tires were out of round and that was what I was feeling 21/2 months it sat in the back lot until they figured out who was gonna replace the tires. Finally got the truck back and it was ok until the new tires started cupping again and the vibration was back in total I took it in about 8 times in past 18 months for the same issue and to this day has not been resolved. According to galles Chevrolet the technician stated that that was normal for a 2500 4 wheel drive truck with aggressive tires drives and assured me that there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle. Now look at the video and tell me if that’s normal for this truck for some reason it’s not letting me load a video of me moving the wheel up and down side to side where it moves about 3” with the steering wheel locked wheel is very very loose.
Leaf springs malfunctioned & yes its available for inspection. Safety issues of cracking noise sounds like cracking in the suspension or axle. On 7/7/22 lorenzo at richland Chevrolet in shafter, California confirmed & had it all day for inspection. No warning lamps or messages were provided. First appeared on 6/30/22. Continental crosscontact lx20 p275/55 r20 111 t eco plus+ tires are chopping & shredding safety & hazard issues are the tires can shred apart & cause an accident or death. On 7/7/22 lorenzo at richland Chevrolet in shafter, California confirmed tires were having that problem & if there was a recall on them then general motors would reach out to us. Then prior, on 4/28/22 during oil change & tire rotation service lorenzo confirmed tires were chopping also. No warning lamps or messages.
A loud thumping noise comes from the rear axle area. The chevy dealer claimed that the u-bolts that hold the axle to the leaf spring becomes loose and need retightening. I had the dealer re-torque the u-bolts but the noise still is there. The dealer claimed it was “normal” and offered no solution other than claiming a tech bulletin was issued instructing dealers to check u-bolts at service appointments. I brought my truck to a private repair shop and the mechanic noted that both rear leaf springs moved under the ubolts when the truck was rocked side to side. This is not safe as the axle can become out of alignment causing steering issues and excessive tire wear. The private shop quoted $1,100(est) to replace both leaf springs with aftermarket springs and u-bolts. The mechanic claimed that they have seen many chevy pickups with this issue. I am asking you to please investigate this issue and instruct gm to repair this manufacturer defect.
Both upper control arms have broken off at the ball joints. Also the cam and lifters are failing and this vehicle has been maintained in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines.
I have filed a complaint already about my 2018 silverado1500 l, never received a response about the complaint filed. My truck road very rough, it had a bad vibration and shimmy in the front end. The front end would nose dive when braking. The truck would pull to the right when going around a right curve. The left front tire was riding on the outside edge. Taking to long to get the truck to stop when braking. These complaints were ignored by the gm service centers, I was pretty much called a liar. The left side front tire edge was very visible to the eye on the tire riding on the edge. Called a liar again. At 16000 miles I took matters into my own hands. I bought new shocks and struts and had a certified service center put them on. The truck rides well, no more shimmy in the front end, the steering is fine going around a right-hand curve does not pull to the right anymore. The truck is now braking like it is supposed to. I have a warranty on this truck the dealerships denied that anything was wrong with the truck. Why when I had the shocks and struts changed the problems went away. I keep the gm shocks and struts. I took a strut and placed the rod end on a board and pushed down on the tube the rod went into the tube with hardly any resistance they were junk. I am going to make a video demonstrating the gm strut and send it to the news media along with the paperwork showing where I had taken my truck to the dealership service centers. If gm is not going to honor their warranty and tell their service center techs to lie about the problem the public has the right to know. I am going to put the date that I had the shocks and struts changed on the next step.

Squeaking noise under box. Dealer took 2 months to get a replacement leaf shackle for left side. It did stop the noise. My transmission has a hard shift in gears when taking off and coming to a stop. Transmission seems to hang up shifting from low gear t a higher gear and does the same when coming to a stop. Seems to be getting worse. New truck, now has 21,000 miles but worst investment I have made switching from a foreign truck back to made in America. This hard shifting takes place when starting off or coming to a stop on any highway or street.
Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at speeds above 60 mph the lower section of the steering wheel and the driver side seat would constantly shake and vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer south charlotte Chevrolet(9325 south blvd, charlotte nc) who replaced and balanced the tires but the failure continued to occur. The vehicle was taken to a 2nd dealer burns Chevrolet(2515 cherry rd, rock hill SC) who confirmed the problem but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50. Jft.
A clunking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when in motion. More noticeable when backing and turning at low speeds.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to hood automotive amite Chevrolet located at 11239 la-16, amite city, la 70422, to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 20,010.
The rack and pinion is not working on the power steering - chevy wont cover because the truck has been lifted. The truck was lifted the day truck was purchased and it only has 5196 miles on it. Took it to 3 lift shops and all said nothing is wrong with the lift and their own lift person said the lift was done perfect.
Vehicle developed a vibration at 80mph which fades in and out. Tires were road forced balanced, and alignment was done. Transmission fluid was changed. The shacking at 80mph continued. On a 30 mile commute at 80mph the vibration is extreme 25% of the time (like driving over a rumble strip), moderate another 25% of the time, and the other 50% the vibration is not noticeable.
Constant vibration/shake coming from the vehicle at any speed above 65 mph. The truck has been like this since the day it left the dealership. When on highway and vibration is felt, putting the truck in neutral does not change the vibration, slowing down makes it slightly worse, speeding it makes it slightly better. Feels like there is something seriously wrong with the geometry of the truck making it unsafe to drive at highway speeds. Road force balance was already done and the problem persists on a brand new truck.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel, accelerator pedal, and center console experienced excessive vibration. The vehicle was taken to country Chevrolet (11 e. Lee hwy, warrenton, va), but the cause of the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 200.
Driving at highway speed holding the steering wheel straight the truck will move quickly to the left lane some time and then other times to the far outside of the right lane. Also I have had it move all the way to left lane and the all the way back across the right lane to off the road. Have notice as well that you can be turning the steering wheel to the right and the truck is still going to the left. When driving in a curve and coming back to center from the right it will snap back really fast not nice and easy like from the left. The truck has done this from day one I have tried to get gm to fix it but the say there nothing wrong I have drove 7 other truck like mine and they all had like there should the drive straight down the road.
