general problems of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - part 2

I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lt trail boss that exhibits strange and persistent issues. A recurring engine code appears p0499, clears itself, and then reappears without consistent resolution. This affects the remote starter as the engine light will be engaged. Additionally, several service warnings flash momentarily and disappear, including: •service trailer brake system •brake system failure – top speed limited to 62 or 43 mph •parking sensor unavailable these warnings occur without warning and vanish too quickly to document fully. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, technicians have been unable to replicate or resolve the problem. This unpredictable behavior creates safety concerns, particularly regarding brake system reliability and sensor functionality. I and many others experiencing these same issues are concerned about a potential electrical or sensor issue impacting vehicle performance and safety.

The electrical system: truck will make clicking noises after I turn it off and the keys are out of ignition. Radio won’t go off when it’s supposed to. I have fan on in my truck for the heat/ac and it blows out of the wrong vent or if I have dial on high there is nothing coming out. When I’m walking away from the truck it will start making noises. Head lights are dim inside lights are dim. I can smell gas in my truck. Transmission jerks no power at all driving up a hill. I had a 2006 chevy silverado. I fell in love with it the first time I seen it. She had a v8 vortex motor in it. I don’t know why a person would put come up with a v6 to pull an 8000 lb truck!!! it takes forever to speed up! I was told to save gas, I seriously don’t think so!!! I put transmissions and engines together for 15 years at Toyota. I have a lot of respect for the japanese people because they care about what they build. Chevy needs to hire some people from Toyota to help straighten them out. Can’t really give dates to many!.

I was driving in highway 85 going south 65 mph I had my grandkids in the backseat and my truck automatically baked by itself and that electrical system control light came on break tire minor needs service and my engine started knocking. I almost had an accident in the highway I had to disconnect my battery for my brakes to release.

Because of faulty ground strap, lost power steering and several other fault codes. Authorized gm dealer reported ground strap completely broke. My vehicle has a little over 26000 miles on odometer.

Hello, I purchased a 2019 Chevrolet trailboss lt from a Chevrolet dealership on April 23 2024. I noticed a few days later and after the first rain, the back window was leaking water inside. There is a service bulletin regarding this issue, I called general motors and was told that they recommend me getting this repaired at my expense. Ironically my mother whom was with me at the time of purchase was coughing on our way home from the dealership and said she’s very sensitive to black mold and felt the truck had mold somewhere in it. I do have pictures of large water stains on the headliner along with water running down the back window onto the carpet. I do not feel comfortable putting my family in this vehicle with possible black mold. At time of purchase, I mentioned to the sales lady that my mother suffers from a chronic lung infection and the leaking back window service bulletin was never disclosed with me. I feel that general motors should be held accountable to make these repairs at their expense due to black mold, water around electrical and seatbelts. Thank you for any help.

When I put the vehicle in reverse the camera goes fuzzy then cuts out completely. Then goes on/off repeatedly. Also having transmission issues, I put the vehicle in drive and doesn’t move until about 7 seconds after I let off the brake. Does a bad jerk! shifting issue throughout the whole time I’m driving! I talked to a guy about his truck that has the same issues I’m having and he said the dealer needs to change the transmission soon. Really concerns me bc I feel like one day it will leave me stranded and the truck only has 48,000 miles.

The rear electric sliding window sealant fails in the there trucks allowing for water to get into the cab at times soaking the headliner. When this happens it can cause possible mold in the headliner leading to possible harm to any child seated in a car seat in the back seat. This should be a recall and fix by gm on these vehicles but they currently do not cover the fix.

This 2019 silverado pickup truck lurched forward on 2 different occasions. The first time it lurched forward, it was in a parking lot and no damage was done to the truck or any other vehicle. The second time our 2019 silverado pickup truck lurched forward I was turning around at a farm. The truck hit a wooden building on the farm and did damage to it and our truck did damage the front end of the truck to the tune of $3,474. 00. If someone was in front of the truck, they would have been killed or seriously injured. We have been very careful with the truck ever since. We could pull it into our garage and it could lurch forward and go through the garage wall.

I have several issues going on with my vehicle. The transmission keeps shuddering and the dealer says there is nothing wrong with it. I've documented over a dozen instances. It feels like you are going over rumble strips. Also the screen flickers bad making it difficult to see the backup camera. I have a dozen or more videos on this and the dealer says they can't reproduce the issue.

Truck stay without breaks in the freeway randomly and bunch of lights came on.

" after which, the vehicle indicated that the transmission was overheating. The check engine and abs warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the battery, requiring a replacement battery. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to technical service bulletin 20-na-149. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Service park brake and service esc lights are on, check engine on and motor making a knocking noise.

I started vehicle. Everything seemed fine. Drove 2 blocks and all eletricals started acting up. Lights flashing all warning lights went off. Service brakes, service parking brake, service ecm, etc. Motor started to bog down and major knocking from engine. Took to GMC dealership. They found issues with lifters and had to replace all lifters and camshaft. Also replaced faulty brake sensor. Get truck back and oil cooler hose or line came off and was leaking oil. 1 week after repairs. Take back to dealership for repairs. 2 weeks later went to start truck all electronics went haywire, lights flashing, all warning lights start going off again. Truck will not start. Let sit for 15 mins. Try starting and no electrical power at all. Truck will not shift out of park. Major issue. Sounds to be a common issue with 2019 trail boss. Only has 40,000 miles.

At a major intersection of several lanes north/south & east/west silverado stalled while waiting for the red light to change. Engine cutoff, would not restart, and situation was high traffic time at a high traffic intersection. Car was towed, problem diagnosed as the electronic sensor would not allow electricty to the starter motor. Required part is not available, it turns out that this is reportedly a common problem. The truck is a silverado 2019 with 36,811 miles. Reportedly out of warranty but this appears to be a common problem and certainly is the kind of problem that would be many years down the road.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the instrument panel became inoperable. Additionally, back-up camera was displaying a black screen. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

I first noticed jerking in my steering two days later the power assist failed. It was almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Luckily I was just leaving my drive. Next time I was in the vehicle the power assist for the steering worked fine, went online and found a video that makes the repair was a body to frame ground strap. This braided copper ground strap from frame to body is located right behind the passengers front wheel. It is subject to salt and corrosion. My vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it and I do have a picture of the failure cost me $10 to repair it shame on gm for putting this critical ground just behind the front tire exposed to salt and corrosion.

Loss of power/misfire on cylinder 6 diagnosis is cam/lifters. 8/4/2023 120k miles. Shift to park warning at 60,000 miles. Continues. Max speed held to 65mph due to abs system???? for 10 minutes at approximately 90k miles. Park assist failure (complete) at approximately 80k miles.

Service trailer brake warning flashed then suddenly lost power steering which nearly caused a crash. Vehicle was taken to dealership and a corroded grounding strap caused the complete loss of the electrical power steering system.

The pickup shifts violently in and out of overdrive and than into second and than overdrive all while driving down the road at 55 mph and the rear end locks the tires up some times and the whole truck vibrates really and this power tran problem is getting worse everyone I drive it and it's not safe to have any passengers or my kids in it anymore and it feels like the transmission is going to disintegrate at any moment because and if it does the transmission is going to lock up and than its going to cause a car accident . . Please fix this problem before this truck causes a accident because of a manufacturing problem . . Im just thinking about my kids safety and other families safety on the road . . . From a concern parent . .

The wiring harness of the vehicle was placed too close to the frame and began wearing the wires down until they broke. Once this happened, the vehicle turned off while driving and would not restart for a few minutes. The vehicle would turn off repeatedly every few minutes leaving me stranded in the middle of the street until I could get the truck to turn off and restart. There was no warning on when the engine would shut off, it just happened randomly while driving and while in park.

There is a vibration that is randomly felt. Over the last year I have replaced struts shocks control arm control arm bushings sway bar link sway bar link bushings tires twice and the vibration just keeps increasing to the point it's doing it now when I turn or take bends in the highway. There is now a flat spot in a tire feel when going it slower speeds to be added to the vibration that happens later on obviously related. This is either from my understanding going to be axle or driveshaft it's going to get looked at today since there's nothing left underneath to repair. This has ruined a pair tires I bought last year for $1,500 in September and probably well on its way to ruining the tires that I've just put on last week for $2,400. There is a hesitation a lack of response and a vibration. As far as the electrical goes it makes this very weird buzzing sound very randomly it's only happened about four times it's loud and it can't be explained. Also sometimes the radio and the ac just turns on and there's no key in the car and I've had the door open for a few minutes. Sometimes after turning it off he'll turn everything off but turn it all back on again no key in. Sometimes I can turn the stereo off and it makes a whistling buzzing sound and it's not even on. As far as any light indicators on the dash for any of this no never had a one. I have completely taken care of this vehicle with the transmission flush and will changes and everything that it's supposed to have and I put a lot of money in it since I've had it in a year but I shouldn't have to on 2019 and it's still experiencing the same problems and I have plenty of documentation. As far as date of occurrence it's been continual and random since I bought the truck in June of 2023 from a local dealership called lokey.

I've had continued issues with components that are electrical . The interior electrical items go wonky, radio touch screen will blink back and forth between two screens for several minutes. Sometimes the sir and radio will just turn on with no key, this is random. It will also turn on off then on again after removing key. The ac has begun to randomly stop working(, blowing cold or at sufficient correct speed) all these occurrences are random, have been checked, unable to duplicate or correct. Bigger more serious issues . The steering and loss of power and hesitation in transmission. My steering went horribly bad. It was replaced and it's still bad and the power module in new unit is bad. . Again waiting for s new tech and pinion. (it's been ridiculous with the strike) the steering for several months has been extremely sloppy causing the truck to wander and it's very unsafe. Over the last couple months there's a hesitation when stepping on the gas. As well as a loss in power while driving and far too much gas is required to get it going. The truck purrs when idling but it's losing power. I've stayed on top of the maintenance. . I've had everything checked. These electrical issues have become more than annoying. They are now unsafe, becoming very expensive and have resulted in my having to rent a vehicle. I see there have been many complaints over steering, transmission and electrical. It's time to do something about these unsafe issues.

Trailer brake service indication comes on constantly and cannot see speed use the radio or make a call. Already have changed the switch that they say is the problem, did not fix issues. Other mechanics on the internet are saying it's a wire harness between the switch and the module this needs to be replaced due to poor quality. We'll have a professional mechanic assess this but it looks like it's a common problem across the board. Please get gm to issue a recall on this because it becomes a safety issue, distraction and not able to read speed. Thanks.

After restarting the vehicle the check engine light had illuminated and the vehicle would not operate in first gear. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and no service was performed. The vehicle was retrieved and the failures reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer who diagnosed that the engine wire harness was damaged while robbing against the engine components and the harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Rear window defroster thermal events. Using the rear windows defroster you can hear arching and smell electrical parting making bad or lose contact. I have found other truck from the same year, doing the same thing. Nhtsa has a letter from the other truck and suvs in that range. But some how this truck is not on the list for recall.

While I’m driving the truck will start jolting and driving rough. When I looked at the dashboard it said that the parking break is on. This has occurred on several occasions now. I have never used my parking break in this truck because I live in an area that is pretty flat.

Driving and the steering will jerk and comes up svc esc and service back up camera. Back up camera flashing on display but will not stay on . Dealership said it was a battery issue so they changed battery and with in 7 miles from dealership almost hit oncoming car due to steering going out. Happen out of no where so it really hard to drive.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continue driving to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing an unstated wiring harness to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

Vehicle would stall unexpectedly while driving. Had to pull over (coast to stop) and disconnect battery in order to get pickup running again. Dealership eventually found broken/corroded wires in main power harness to ecm. Appears to be related to gm service bulletin 21-na-149.

The touch screen controller is constantly going haywire. It’s very distracting while operating the vehicle. The screen will switch from maps that you are following by itself to the radio, home page or just freeze. The radio can’t be controlled, the WI-fi and satellite systems switch on and off at random. There’s many complaints listed on the internet about the issue. Gm wants $675 to replace the system on a 4 year old vehicle.

Lifters need replaced and screen comes in and out.

So far it hasn't happened with auto-stop off, so it's an assumption that this is part of the issue. We come to a stop, the engine powers down (auto-stop) but all battery-powered features remain on. When we go to accelerate, everything completely loses power. It has taken up to 5 minutes to power back up. When this occurs, all we can do is open the door if it's unlocked - there is zero power to any part of the vehicle and there are no noises coming from anywhere. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. > how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - the vehicle loses all power. We cannot turn on hazard lights, brake lights to alert others in traffic that we're unable to move or start the vehicle. If there was a need to move the vehicle quickly, we would not be able to do so. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - no, they're never able to reproduce the issue despite reporting it at least twice on service visits. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - it has been inspected by the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - not before it happens, but after the vehicle finally starts up, the dashboard message indicates we should roll the driver's window down and back up again. The date of the incident is the last reported instance.

When turning off the vehicle, the dic gives an indication of shift to park warning. After a few minutes the beeping and warning would turn off. Started happening at 62,000 miles. Dealer looked for it April 18, 2023, could not duplicate the problem.

The contact became aware of TSB 21-na-149 (engine wire harness chafing). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,800.

Transmission slipping at 58k radiator leak at 52k fuel pump went out at 42k.
