1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2026

Oil cooler lines are leaking oil. A known gm issue with many owner complaints online. Transmission issues. Motor issues. Electrical issues. Brake issues. These particular trucks have many issues and nobody is taking responsibility for the issues.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2026

Engine oil cooler line leaks and crimping does not hold hose tight enough and slipped off crimp fitting. Line came completely off of crimp fitting and leaked all engine oil. Forced engine to be turned off and low engine oil marked on dash.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2026

My truck locks up the back tires at 7 mph. No warning lights come on and the only indication it is going to happen is when shifting from park to reverse it bangs extremely hard.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

I am reporting a catastrophic internal engine failure in a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at 87,600 miles. Prior to this event, there were no warning lights or symptoms. While traveling alone during the holiday on a remote, one-lane road with no shoulder, the vehicle suddenly suffered a loss of power. Every warning light on the dashboard illuminated at once, followed by shaking, misfiring, and loud knocking from the engine. Because I was on a one-lane road with no place to pull over, this created an immediate safety hazard for me and oncoming traffic. I had the car towed to the dealership ( where I bought the truck) confirmed the failure was a collapsed lifter and scored camshaft (which I found out to be a known design flaw in the 5. 3l dfm engine). The dealer said it was not under warranty. I felt held over a barrel by the dealership; they initially provided an inflated quote and told me it would cost approximately $1,200, not including tax and shop fees, just to put the engine back together if I wanted to tow it elsewhere for a second opinion. I was forced to pay over $8,395 under protest just to regain use of my primary vehicle after 42 days of downtime. Upon completion, the dealer provided a "lifetime warranty" on the replacement parts. This is a tacit admission that these components were never intended to fail during the life of the vehicle. Gm refuses to include this vehicle in its coverage list, treating a dangerous engine stall as a simple "out of warranty" repair. This is a systemic safety defect that requires a mandatory recall expansion before it results in a terrible accident. My understanding is that a class action lawsuit, harrison vs. General motors, for this same thing, but they say my car is not in it, I should have been put on notice for this so I could protect myself.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2025

The oil cooler line was un-lodged from the metal crimp that secures it while I was pulling away causing total loss of all engine oil in a matter of seconds. Not only does the car immediately tell you to turn your car off to avoid catastrophic engine failure, but this is also dangerous for other drivers as the oil may cause a hazard for controlling the vehicle going through the oil.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2025

Unknown.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2025

Unknown, esc , traction control, service brake. The truck stop and those 2 codes shows and is on but doesn’t it move.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2025

My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5. 3l engine developed a severe tick, misfire, and rough idle at only 93,000 miles. This was diagnosed as a collapsed afm lifter on cylinder 2. Gm 5. 3l afm lifter failure is extremely common in these trucks and causes sudden loss of power, misfires, and unsafe driving conditions. This is a known widespread defect, yet gm has not issued a recall. The failure happened without warning and required major engine disassembly. This should be investigated as a safety and reliability issue.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2025

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 lt and I am having issues with the transmission bucking, hesitating, slipping. I am also having issues with the variable timing system. The variable timing system started acting up last year and when I took it to the dealer they replaced it and I was charged over $400 for it to be repaired. It happened again the beginning of this year and I took it back to the dealer. They told me the oil was dirty and suggested an oil change to fix the issue. I had the oil change done and now I am having the same problem again and have already had the oil changed. I need help since I am paying for a vehicle that is sitting in my driveway not being able to be used. There are 6 codes that have popped up including the variable timing system, cylinder 4 misfire, brake system, and I'm not exactly sure what the other ones are.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2025

The transmission does not shift smoothly. It actually will lurch forward after a stop at a sign or traffic light. It hesitates upon acceleration. I find it unerving and possibly dangerous. It was fixed by the dealer on October 22, 2024 and was good for 6 months but has started to do the same thing again.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2025

On 6/4/2025 while driving my truck, I noticed smoke coming out of vents of the front passenger side of vehicle. I got out of truck and went to open passenger door to investigate and the engine ignited. A neighbor called 911 and the local fire department responded. I contacted my insurance company. They had the truck towed so their investigators could examine it. The cause was classified as indeterminate and the truck was declared a total loss. The truck had approximately 51,000 miles at the time of the incident and was well maintained, with new tires and no known mechanical issues or warning lights prior to the fire. The fire occurred while driving on a road seven miles from my home.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2025

Sliding rear window leaks in 3 spots. Leak poses the safety risk of mold growth inside the vehicle along with the potential of water getting inside of electrical components and air bag device compartments. The problem was reproduced and confirmed at the dealership, to which the plastic seal at the top of the rear window was confirmed to have failed in 3 locations. Dealership recommended replacing the entire back window and assembly with what they believe to be the same window assembly that failed. The only inspection completed on the vehicle to date has been the dealership gm certified technicians. Musty smell after rain and observed staining on the headliner is when the issue was first identified.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2025

I was driving down the road and my oil lines from my engine to my oil cooler exploded and oil went everywhere. I turned off the truck immediately. I started looking around and there is a bulletin (n192220080) addressing this issue with my make model and year vehicle but my VIN was not included. I called gm and they said since this was issued by NHTSA they have to be the ones to update the bulletin or issue a new one if this is happening on more vehicles.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

Truck rev high without much acceleration clunking noise when accelerating hard shifting shuttering.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2025

Hard shifting, mainly first to second gear. Shuddering at high speeds, and hard downshifting.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2025

Getting a shift to park message on dash screen also getting radio to be unresponsive (like the screen is frozen) also puts a message of no information detected.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2025

Was at a red light after a very short drive, as soon as the light turned green I let off break hit gas and felt a huge kick that felt as if I was rear ended. I let off the gas and another big kick happened. Check engine light came on and dashboard read “service ecs and service parking break”. Truck would not accelerate and I was stuck in the middle of a very busy intersection. Turned truck off turned back on and it allowed me to at least accelerate and get out of the intersection but the truck was revving at high rpms and not going faster than 20mph. I’m assuming truck went into limp mode. Got truck to mechanic where they said all the codes were transmission codes. Truck was then towed to monterey transmissions in stuart, FL where they stated it was confirmed a new transmission would be need. They explained that there is a recall for 462 thousand 2019 chevy Silverado 1500s. But my VIN is not associated with this claim. Why? when I have the same valve body that has been religiously failing on all other 2019 chevy silverado’s. All this occurred on [xxx]. Vehicle will be available for inspection as it is undriveable. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2024

Pulling an enclosed trailer with my 2019 chevy pu. Stopped at a gas station and discovered the tailgate had dropped down while driving. Making the turn into the gas station with the trailer in tow creased the tailgate considerably by the jack on the trailer. Thankfully nothing was noticed missing from the truck bed that was needed for our trip. Very unhappy for the faulty tailgate opening while traveling. Request contact for repair as I see there are recalls on this matter but not my truck when indeed it did happen.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2024

Gm refuses to cover catalytic converter recall 20v-005 despite matching VIN/build criteria. Failure occurred at 88k, but dealer refused service at the time. I'm now driving it at 108k. Private garage confirmed it's critically plugged.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2024

It's been 3 times I have had a recall on the brakes and they charged me for the diagnosis that returned p25a2 and they want to charge me for fixing something that went wrong since manufacturing my truck only has 6,000 miles it skids a loud sound is heard down and when I brake for a little more and I crash 3 times.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

The rear view camera mounted in the tailgate of my truck displays a distorted and fuzzy display on the video display, when in reverse gear. When I select reverse gear and it's at night, the light at the top center of the tailgate, intended to illuminate the tow hitch, is so bright that it bleaches any view from the screen. I'd suggest the light be on a separate switch to be used only for actually hitching to a trailer. The display shows the guiding marks where the truck will go and it is bleached from view also. This is a hazard because the view is so blurry, nothing of value is displayed. I mentioned this to the dealer's service manager, where I purchased this truck, used, and he said that the camera would have to be replace or at least removed from the tailgate and cleaned and resealed. I noticedd this imperfection upon delivery as a used truck and since it's out of the warranty period I will wait to have it repaired. Thank you. .

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2024

I have 2019 chevy Silverado 1500 that only has 38000 miles and bought it at 34000 miles. I drive it 20 miles if that to work and back only and use my wifes cars another chevy on weekends family car. One morning I turned it on and it stated no oil pressure to turn car off. I did as it stated lifted the hood and can tell the oil cooler line/hose came off due to the latch bracket not holding. Thank god I wasnt on the highway in dfw traffic could have caused an accident. Low and behold many hundreds of complaints with the same vehicle and issue has been filed with gm motors. While in alaska and canada the exact same issue is recalled but not the united states of America! please help as I cannot replace an engine in this time today with a family over an issue many hundreds of chevy owners are having. Its an obvious recall and part thats not up to the law or standards.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2024

Sliding back window of 2019 and newer GMC pickups are experiencing issues with defects on the plastic connecting to the back window. They are cracking and allowing water to enter vehicle and down to carpet possibly creating mold. They have fixed mine one time already and the fix lasted for a little over 2 years. And just my truck was in the shop again for over a week and it’s the same issue . Advising they will not cover it under extended warranty . The is a health concern and GMC knows about it and will not do anything to rectify the problem.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2024

Rear defrost is causing a loud hissing/arcing sound. After leaving the defrost on for a short period of time, I could see smoke forming near the bottom left corner of the window. This is concerning because defrost is turned on automatically when the truck is started and it is cold outside. I see that many other people have reported the same issue on their 2019 Silverado 1500 when reading in the gm forum. In many reported cases, it will either catch on fire or completely shatter the window. I was told by my dealer that since my truck is outside of warranty, they would not cover the repair. This should be a safety recall covered outside of warranty period. Gm has yet to announce a safety recall on this issue.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2024

This 2019 silverado pickup truck lurched forward on 2 different occasions. The first time it lurched forward, it was in a parking lot and no damage was done to the truck or any other vehicle. The second time our 2019 silverado pickup truck lurched forward I was turning around at a farm. The truck hit a wooden building on the farm and did damage to it and our truck did damage the front end of the truck to the tune of $3,474. 00. If someone was in front of the truck, they would have been killed or seriously injured. We have been very careful with the truck ever since. We could pull it into our garage and it could lurch forward and go through the garage wall.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2024

Truck developed leak in rear window area, which will create mold in the vehicle, making it unsafe to be in. Took it into Chevrolet dealer and told it was third brake light leak a known issue with a TSB. First told will need window replaced also, but then they changed to the reseal window (see quote attached). They "repaired" the leak, then same day it was still leaking. I returned to dealer (same day); now told I need to replace window as per a TSB! another $1k cost to me. Gm knows about this problem but is placing the cost on the customer. These trucks are not safe to be in, if mold develops.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2024

The rear sliding window structure is faulty and this is well documented through complaints. The structure surrounding the rear sliding window is not strong enough to stand normal wear and tear. This is documented in [xxx] . The supplier produced poor quality material. Was it the suppliers fault or gm's specifications? the water leakage can cause damage to the rear seat and floor board which can cause mold and mildew to form, causing a health issue. This happened to this vehicle. Because of this known problem which gm gets away with the consumer has to foot the bill. The dealership has to send this truck out to get fixed and the cost is around $900. Though the mold and mildew is not enough for a recall since it is not a safety issue. It does become a safety issue when the water interacts with the electrical system and causes it to short out and cause smoke. This happened to my son's 2019 silverado z71. The safety issue is when a child is strapped in their car seat in the back seat and this happens. Which happened in this instance. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2024

On Monday, [xxx] my husband was driving his 2019 chevy trail boss (VIN [xxx] ) home from work and a warning light came on the dash indicating “low oil pressure, turn engine off. ” he pulled off the road immediately to turn the truck off and then realized that there was oil pouring out from the truck and which had covered the entire underside and sides of the vehicle. After having the truck towed to the local dealership we were notified that the issue was related to the oil cooler lines detaching causing the oil leak. The recommended fix was replacement of the lines and fresh oil. We proceeded with the service and thankfully there was no apparent damage to the engine at this time. The dealership acknowledged that this was a common problem with this truck. We paid $1,307. 13 for the completion of this work, completed by urka auto center in ludington, mi. Unfortunately, after doing some research it has come to our attention that the detachment of the oil cooler lines is a very common problem amongst 2019 chevy and GMC trucks and have located service bulletin (GMC TSB [xxx]) that identifies this as an issue for a select group of vehicles. It is very concerning that this has never been identified as a recall and it’s obvious that this issue affects many more trucks than those identified in the service bulletin. Similar issues also noted in customer satisfaction program documents ([xxx] and [xxx]). We live in michigan and, as happens in michigan during winter, we’ve been experiencing snow and cold temps. It seems that in our research the colder temps put these oil cooler lines at an even greater risk of failure. The detachment of the oil coolant lines seems to be much more wide-spread than what has been acknowledged in the referenced documents. This parts failure has potential to severely damage the vehicle's engine. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2023

I was driving for an hour when the truck was dinging and it told me to turn off engine no pressure with oil coolant I pulled into a customer’s driveway and all the oil in the truck was all over the customer’s blacktop called chevy they knew nothing about problem and said no recall and was not covered with 42000 miles on truck had it towed and repaired by my local mechanic who also questioned chevy and got the same response.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2023

My rear window was leaking and repaired by the dealer in 2020 . Then in November of 2023 I noticed the water again in the cab I noticed stains and mold in the cab the vehicle now had 42,000 miles the dealer said the truck was out of warranty so I would have to pay out of pocket or make an insurance claim . This is a health and safety concern if the window sealant can crack it can potentially pop out if the windows are open at higher speeds due to the pressure in the cab. Also general motors does not want to acknowledge or accept full responsibility for the window or the mold and water damage!.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2023

My purge pump has gone out 3 times. I do not overfill my tank. They have also stated it is due to no lid on the gas tank but this truck is designed without a lid for the tank. The catalytic converter has now gone bad per the dealership. The truck only has 121000 miles on it. I should not be having these kinds of problems. I wanted to report these since the truck is not that old so this may be an issue with others. Since I purchased the truck it has jumped at take off and no one can explain this. The dealer ship also give different answers for things and does not seem to know what could be wrong.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2023

Truck does not recognize shifter position of park, will not turn off properly. No wat to tell if transmission is safely in park. Does this about 50 percent of the time. This has to be a safety issue. A dealer in arizona says that on model of the chevy silverado it is a regular issue. I would think this should be a safety recall item.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2023

Water leaking from the rear windshield into the vehicle. Large amounts of water into the housing for the rear seatbelts, which is concerning for damage to the seatbelts. There are concerns for mold and electrical issues as well. This is a known issue from Chevrolet and needs to be addressed.
